Chapter 30: Chapter 30
"Juliet! What are you doing after work?" Juliet had to blink a few times before Alice came into focus in front of her. Alice's fingers tapped against the wolf as she looked up at Juliet expectantly.
"Um...nothing, I think." Juliet thought for a moment. "Shouldn't you be able to see that?"
"Oh, now I can!" Alice smiled widely. "We are going shopping."
"We are?" Juliet raised her eyebrows.
"Mmhmm!" Alice leaned against the counter. "You're gonna need something to wear to the wedding, aren't you? Also, do you know Leah's sizes? You two need to match but I know better than to try and bring her along."
"Wait, wait, wait. Wedding?" Juliet leaned forward a bit. "I thought Bella was still totally against it."
"Nope, she finally agreed." Alice's smile only widened. "You should see the ring, it's beautiful. It was Edward's mother's so it's vintage. Not exactly my first choice, but I've been able to work around it. If you don't know Leah sizes you need to find out. I'm not opposed to making another trip to Seattle but it will really get in the way."
"Seattle? Alice I have stuff to do still." Juliet sighed. "Could we go tomorrow, maybe?"
"Oh, what do you really have to do?" Alice groaned. "Besides, we're taking my Porsche. It'll only be a few hours, unless you plan on being difficult about trying stuff on." Alice's eyes narrowed. Before Juliet could speak, Alice clapped her hands together. "Good! Now, I'm going to take your truck to Charlie's, tell him what we're doing, and I'll meet you outside after your shift." Alice held a hand out expectantly.
"Alice..." Juliet sighed. Alice's eyes narrowed again and Juliet groaned, sitting up and fishing her keys out of her sweatshirt pocket and dropping them into Alice's hand.
"Make sure you call Leah about her sizes!" Alice reminded, and then she was gone. Juliet shook her head, sighing as she picked up the phone. She quickly dialed Emily's number, and after a few rings it was answered.
"Hello?" Emily's voice came through, but Juliet could hear the boys doing something in the background.
"Hey Em." Juliet leaned back against the counter. "Is Leah around?"
"No, I think she's with Sue today." Emily sounded slightly distracted. "Oh, yeah, that's right! Leah and Seth were gonna make her dinner, since it's her birthday. Why, what's up?" Juliet sighed.
"Alice is dragging me along to do...something." Juliet waved her hand lightly. "You wouldn't happen to know Leah's dress size, would you?"
"Shopping, and you didn't invite me?" Emily joked. "As a matter of fact I do...it's somewhere around here, I had her figure it out so I could get bridesmaids dresses...hold on..."
————————
"I don't know Alice, isn't this...too much?" Juliet asked, glancing down at Alice who was busy adjusting the waistline.
"I could make it work." Alice stood back, sighing. "I can't believe you won't let me put you in this one." Alice fumed, glancing at the garment bag hanging next to her. "I know it the best one, and I already have one for Leah that works perfectly." Juliet groaned.
"I told you, that one is definitely too much." Alice whined, pulling on Juliet's arm.
"Juliet, we're going to be sisters very soon." Alice said. "And you love your sister, right?"
"Alice..." Juliet sighed.
"You love me, don't you Juliet?" Juliet groaned. "I knew you loved me!" Alice smiled, whipping around and pulling the garment bag open. "And I know you'll love this dress."
———————
"So, I have one more little idea." Alice said making Juliet groan lightly. "Nothing big, I promise, and I won't force you into it but if you do go along with it trust me, you'll look perfect."
"What is it this time?" Juliet sighed.
"You know I love you." Alice spoke. "But honestly, don't you want to do something with your hair for once?"
"What's wrong with my hair?" Juliet frowned, one of her hands moving up to touch her hair.
"Nothings wrong with it...per say..." Alice leaned over, taking a few strands of Juliet's hair between her fingers. "I just think maybe you'd want to, you know, liven it up a little." Juliet raised her eyebrows. "Again, you don't have to agree! But I've seen the future where you do choose to bleach your hair and you look great, Juliet."
"Blonde?" Juliet was taken aback. "Why would I go blonde?"
"Well why not?" Alice leaned back in her chair. "I mean, if you don't like it's not like it's hard to go back. And wouldn't you like to look good at the wedding?"
"I'll look fine at the wedding without completely changing how I look." Alice scoffed.
"Oh please, you wouldn't be completely changing." Alice shook her head lightly. "Well, I saw your future at 50/50 for changing your hair, but now it's 60/40 for bleaching it."
"What! You're lying." Juliet narrowed her eyes.
"65/35." Alice smiled. "Ah, I can't wait! You're gonna look so pretty blonde."
"Stop it, Alice." Juliet frowned, standing up. "It's getting late, I need to get home."
"Fine, fine." Alice stood from her seat. "70/30." She teased as they left the small coffee shop.
———————
"Yeah, Alice mentioned you were going shopping today." Seth nodded, setting one of the bags on the floor. "Where'd you go?"
"She dragged me to Seattle." Juliet rolled her eyes. "She also tried to convince me to bleach my hair, can you believe that?"
"Eh, I could see it." He shrugged, and she raised her eyebrows at him. "Okay, maybe she's mentioned it before. You know how her visions are." Juliet shook her head, chuckling lightly.
"I'm not surprised." She snorted. "Thanks for the help with all this. Alice refused to stop until she was satisfied."
"I can tell." Seth nodded. "Alright, I'm gonna head over to Sam and Emily's. I'll see you later, Jules."
———————
Juliet stood back, looking at her and Leah's dresses next to each other's for the hundredth time. It was still hard to wrap her mind around the idea of Bella getting married, of Bella turning. Much to her own relief, Sam had agreed to let the Cullen's turn Bella, since it was ultimately her choice. It still didn't completely ease Juliet's nerves, though. She had no idea how long it would be until she'd be able to see Bella again, to be near her. And she didn't know what the story would be for Charlie and Renee, she only knew she'd have to be the one to pick up the pieces. Lost in her thoughts, Juliet hadn't heard the front door close, or Leah coming upstairs. The bedroom door opened, and she didn't hear that either.
"Hey Jules." Juliet jumped slightly, spinning around. Leah didn't notice, though, as she was pulling her sweatshirt off. "How was work?"
"Good." Juliet said quickly, trying to cover the dresses from Leah's sight. It didn't work though, as Leah sniffed and then wrinkled her nose back.
"Ugh, you were with one of them afterwards." She tossed her sweatshirt onto her desk chair, then noticing the color fabric on their bed. "What are those?" Juliet sighed, turning around and lifting up the dress Alice had picked for her.
"Dresses, for the wedding. Alice picked them." Leah moved over, her nose still wrinkled back. "Mine, and yours." Leah's eyes left the blue floral fabric in Juliet's hands and landed on the similar looking yellow floral on the bed.
"The bloodsucker bought us clothes?" Leah raised an eyebrow.
"You know how Alice is, she's so obsessed with planning this whole stupid wedding." Juliet lightly tossed the dress back onto the bed. "You don't have to wear it if you don't want to. I know that Alice can really over do it."
"No, it's...I'm actually kinda surprised." Leah chuckled. "The bloodsucker didn't do too bad."
"What?" Juliet raised her eyebrows, a small smile coming onto her lips.
"Hey, hey, hey." Leah scolded playfully, wrapping her arms around Juliet's waist. "I never said that I liked them."
"Yeah, but I can tell you're starting to." Juliet smiled, and Leah rolled her eyes. "So, do you wanna try on your dress?"
