Chapter 875: Chapter 875
"Interesting little girl, let’s see where your confidence comes from."
The man in the orange jacket hurled the off-road vehicle in his hand.
The wide vehicle cut through the air, whipping up the howling wind, slapping the scattered raindrops, and smashing head-on towards the young girl.
Black brilliance flickered at the girl’s forehead, feeling the strength continuously pouring into her body, she stepped forward and leapt into the air, vaulting over the oncoming off-road vehicle and landing on the roof of an empty car behind the off-road vehicle.
The speeding off-road vehicle crashed into a row of parked cars, flattening a sedan and then rolling over several times before coming to a stop on the ground.
Lin Chichi looked back at the rolling off-road vehicle in the rainstorm.
She had used too much strength.
She had initially planned to perform a double jump in mid-air using the off-road vehicle, but she had leaped over it completely.
She looked down at the Dagger in her hand.
This sudden ’Enchantment’ of power, she was still not quite used to it.
The man in the orange jacket looked down at the girl before him, a smile curling up at the corner of his mouth, "You’re so lucky, have you suddenly awakened?"
He took a step forward and leaped out, his body crashing onto a van not far in front of Lin Chichi, directly denting the rooftop of the van.
He raised his head, looking at the girl before him, "Killing a Transcendent, is much more interesting than killing an ordinary little girl."
Lin Chichi also looked at the man in the orange jacket, flipped the blade in her hand, changing from a tip-up to tip-down grip. This way of holding the knife made it less likely to be disarmed during a fierce fight, although it meant that she had to be closer in combat.
Some flickering images began to echo in her mind, those seemed to be her memories, but they were exceedingly vague and unclear.
She seemed to have undergone professional combat training at some organization, but she couldn’t remember the name of that organization, nor why she had joined it.
However, as the invisible ’Grace’ continued to pour into her body, her memories became much clearer than before, allowing her to recall some basic fighting techniques.
It seemed that she hadn’t been trained for very long, and her combat skills were not so excellent, merely staying at the level of simple Kung Fu.
Apart from these memories, another emotion was also filling her mind.
It was an anger that seemed to come from nowhere, an anger that seemed to have been suppressed for an unknown number of years.
She didn’t know where this anger came from.
All she knew was that she wanted the guys in front of her dead.
The sharp Dagger was held tightly in her grasp.
Glancing at the girl’s hand clutching the blade, the man in the orange jacket leaped out, raising his fist, "Let’s see what you’ve got, ’newbie’."
The man in the orange jacket did not seem to be very strong among the Transcendents, just much stronger than ordinary people, probably someone who had just entered the Transcendent Domain.
A thought flashed through Lin Chichi’s mind.
She didn’t know why she made such a judgment, as if she had once seen Transcendents far more powerful than the man in the orange jacket.
But while she was puzzled, her hands did not stop moving. With the knife tip down, she sidestepped and raised her arm, using the sharp blade of the knife to meet the man in the orange jacket’s fist.
The man immediately changed his attack, circling around the blade and smashing towards the girl’s chest.
The girl quickly brought the knife back to block.
The sharp flying knife collided with the incoming fist, the powerful force causing the girl’s arm to tremble, she retreated several steps and fell from the roof of the car, rolling on the ground.
The man in the orange jacket stood on the roof, glanced at the fresh blood on the back of his hand—Lin Chichi’s blade had still managed to cut him during the final clash.
He looked down at the girl below him from his higher position, a smirk appearing on his lips, "People differ from one another. After entering the Transcendent Domain, we are no longer the same species as ordinary people,"
He tilted his head slightly and pulled out a metal rod from behind his back, "But you seem to be weaker than I had imagined?"
As he spoke, his figure leaped out again, holding the rod with one hand and smashing it down towards the girl’s forehead from high above.
Lin Chichi rolled away to dodge this ferocious attack and looked at the man in the orange jacket before her.
Her combat skills were inadequate, likely lacking professional training, but his strength was greater than hers.
Her gaze briefly landed on the quiet man in a gray jacket who had been silently watching the scene, seemingly ready to join the fight at any moment.
While observing the man in the orange jacket advancing step by step with the rod raised, she took a slight step back.
In terms of strength, she had no advantage.
The longer she dragged out the time, the faster she would die.
Her only advantage was...
A black glow passed over her forehead.
She stepped back a few paces again, reaching the front of the sedan parked behind her, and pinched a small object in her hand.
"What’s the matter? Getting scared?"
The man in the orange jacket smiled slightly and sped up his pursuit of the girl.
Lin Chichi circled around the front of the car to the other side near the door, while the man in the orange jacket was chasing to the front of the car, their diagonal distance was now closer.
The man in the orange jacket raised the metal rod directly, smashing it diagonally toward the girl’s back.
At that instant, the girl suddenly turned around, blocking the rod with one hand and picking up the spray with the other, aiming at the man’s cheek, and the pungent pepper spray burst out instantly.
The iron rod that was falling struck her arm, turning her already pale little face even paler, and then with grit, she endured the blow. With a swift motion, she grabbed the iron rod and yanked it forward with force.
The man, whose vision was blurred, hadn’t even reacted before he was pulled forward, and the distance between the two instantly closed.
However, unlike ordinary people, even though he was sprayed with pepper spray, he did not lose his vision and was forced to close his eyes due to the intense irritation. He could still vaguely see the shadow of the young girl before him.
But his more sensitive senses only intensified the painful stimulus, making him somewhat distracted.
However, he quickly regained his composure, his arm strenuously exerting force, breaking free of the girl’s grip on the iron rod.
By this time, the girl’s body had already pressed close to him. One hand wrapped around his back, while the other hand lifted a dagger and pierced his chest.
Accompanied by splattered blood, the man in the orange jacket grimaced in pain. He waved the iron rod in his hand, smashing it against the girl’s back, trying to break free from her control.
At the same time, his other hand, though injured, attempted to snatch the dagger from the girl’s hand.
Accompanied by a dull sound, at the moment when the rod hit her, the girl’s body noticeably jolted, blood spilling from the corners of her mouth.
But the actions of her hands did not pause at all; one hand tightly held onto the man in the orange coat, while the other continued to furiously thrust, repeatedly piercing the man’s chest.
The injured hand reached for the girl’s wrist but was deflected by the sharp blade she held, slicing the wrist open. In an instant, the pain made him let go.
The iron rod kept hitting her slender back in the air, while the dancing dagger repeatedly penetrated the man’s chest.
Blood mixed with the tattered coat splashed on the girl’s clothes across her chest, and the pouring rain seemed to wash away everything in the world.
Finally, the man’s hand hitting her back came to a stop—the thick iron rod slipped from his grip, and with a ’bang—’ fell helplessly to the ground.
Lin Chichi released her hand, looking at the man with widened eyes in the rain, and slowly pushed the man’s corpse forward.
The man in the orange jacket was actually much stronger than her overall; it was just that his combat skills were slightly lacking.
What he lacked was the courage to put himself in a do-or-die situation in a life or death fight.
Coughing up a mouthful of blood, the girl leaned against the car’s hood, her cold black eyes calmly gazing ahead.
The corpse that lay in the rain rapidly decayed and vanished, an invisible strength surging into her body.
This was her only advantage; the more she killed, the stronger she got. For her, a Rotational Battle was somewhat beneficial in a way.
She didn’t know who was helping her, nor did she understand the real origin of that pitch-black coffin. A name vaguely floated in her mind, but she could not recall exactly what it was.
But she knew that person wouldn’t harm her.
Even if that person wished to harm her, she was willing to bear it.
Even if it was glory from Hell, it was still her only light.
The girl staggered to her feet amidst the torrential rain, looking back behind her.
A vague memory flashed through her mind for an instant; it seemed like a little girl kneeling on the ground, crying loudly.
But at this moment, Lin Chichi had no time to reflect on these memories—the man in the grey jacket who had been standing on the roof of the car had disappeared without a trace.
She paused in shock, then immediately turned her head to look around, only to find nothing.
Then she seemed to remember something, looked up towards the front side, a grey illusion was rapidly approaching a car that had crashed into the wall.
The passenger door of that car had been pushed open, and the driver’s door was ajar. That was her family’s car.
Without hesitation, in that instant, the girl vaulted onto the hood, then leapt with all her might towards the car.
Both figures raced toward the vehicle with their fastest speeds.
In the end, the figure in the grey jacket got there a step earlier. He reached the driver’s door, grabbed the handle, and yanked hard, pulling the deformed door open with a loud bang.
He looked at the unconscious man in the driver’s seat, reached out his hand to directly drag the man out.
It was at this instant that a figure rushed from behind with great force, slamming into him and knocking him against the door.
After a brief pause, a strong force tore the entire door apart, and both figures, along with the door, crashed into the wall behind.
With a resounding boom, the entire wall was indented and cracked, and the glass next to the wall shattered, scattering around the two.
"Bastard, since you’re so eager to die, I’ll oblige you."
The man in the grey jacket looked at Lin Chichi, who had struggled to stand, swung his fist, and punched towards the girl’s blood-stained cheek.
The girl lifted her head, her gaze cold, watching the man in the grey jacket.
The flowing rainwater traced down her cheeks.
She abruptly lifted her hand, catching the fist of the man in the grey jacket.
Though trembling slightly, she still firmly gripped the fist.
"How is this possible?"
The man in the grey jacket was stunned for a moment.
In that time, the girl had already grasped the sharp blade, slashing towards his neck.
He forcefully wriggled free from the girl’s grip and rolled away to distance himself.
At the same time, the unsupported girl also fell forward, her hands pressing among the scattered glass. She discreetly picked up a sharp, slender piece of glass and slipped it into her sleeve.
Then she staggered to her feet, turning to her side.
At that moment, the man in the grey jacket also turned around, his figure rising in the rain, looking at the girl holding the blade. "You’ve gotten stronger? What exactly is your ability?"
The girl did not respond to his words, her gaze icy as she unhesitatingly gripped the blade and rushed towards him.
The man in the grey jacket gritted his teeth, pulled out a black baton from his waist, dodged the incoming blade from the girl with a sidestep, and swung his stick, hitting the girl’s abdomen.
The girl’s body jerked, and fresh blood again overflowed from the corners of her mouth.
The strength that continually flowed into her body, although a portion was divided to stabilize her physical structure, did not heal her injuries.
She raised her head and looked at the grey-jacketed man who had once again distanced himself.
This man’s combat skills were not better than those of the man in the orange coat, but he seemed to have an exceptionally sensitive perception, and his body was extraordinarily agile.
A noun emerged from her mind, the memories originally sealed by some force were now becoming clearer.
’Athlete’, was this the grey-jacketed man’s ability?
Streams of information emerged in Lin Chichi’s mind.
This ability seemed to grant the possessor some type of sports prowess; the opponent’s strength was greater than hers, but not by much. From this perception and physical function, it appeared that he had acquired the flexibility of gymnastics.
The girl raised her hand and swung the dagger forward again.
This time, as the grey-jacketed man passed by the girl, a baton hit her in the back.
And this spot was exactly where the man in the orange coat had struck her fiercely just before.
In an instant, the girl spat out a large mouthful of blood, her body stiffening momentarily.
"Actually, I don’t really like to make people submit through brute force. I prefer to dig into the details of life, then find the enemy’s weakness, and subdue them without bloodshed."
Seeing this, the grey-jacketed man finally breathed a sigh of relief. He swung his baton and slowly turned to face the girl, "The one in that car is your relative, right? I originally wanted to use him to blackmail you, but it looks like that won’t be necessary now."
His other hand brushed the edge of the baton, looking at the girl’s tightly clenched lips and angry eyes,
"Do you seem angry? Do you hate me? Why? Because I hurt these ordinary people? Hurt your family?
"Young lady, you are also a Transcendent; you can feel the surging power within you. Wake up; we are no longer the same species as these ordinary people. Would you empathize with monkeys that you could easily kill?
"I know this is hard for you to accept, but this is the reality. All this will gradually become normal. We have become a different species from ordinary people. Realizing this sooner is a good thing for you."
Lin Chichi raised her head, calmly looking at the man in front of her. She did not reply to the man or pick up on his words. She just watched him serenely and raised the dagger in her hand.
The flame in her heart had never been extinguished by the torrential rain, nor shaken by the man’s words.
She was not the saint of the story; she was just a displaced ’participant’ in this unprovoked carnage.
Violently, she took a step forward, lifting the dagger in her hand, and in an instant, slashed again towards the man’s neck.
"Obsessive little girl."
The man again dodged to the side, swinging his baton and hitting the girl’s back.
The girl staggered, spitting out another mouthful of blood, almost falling to the ground.
But her actions did not stop; she turned and stabbed at the grey-jacketed man again.
But her speed was now much slower.
This time, the grey-jacketed man also dodged to the side, using his baton to strike her abdomen, sending a shock through her body as she attempted another attack.
But this time, the man in the grey jacket was faster and struck her back first.
The pouring rain splattered on the ground, and everything around seemed to quiet down.
The girl stared at the driver’s side door that opened in front of her, her vision gradually blurring as she leaned forward, kneeling on the ground, her knife-wielding right hand resting in the rainy soil.
"I told you, struggling is futile."
A figure blocked her view, the man in the grey jacket squatting in front of the girl with a mocking smile on his face. He slowly brought his head close to the girl and lifted his empty right hand, gripping the girl’s neck, "The gap between us is greater than that between humans and monkeys."
In that moment, a streak of light flashed through the rain, and the sharp blade aimed for the man’s neck.
The dagger in the girl’s hand, unknown when, had rotated from blade-down to blade-up, thrusting rapidly towards the man.
A raised baton struck the girl’s wrist, causing her grip to loosen, and the blade flew out, embedding itself into the car’s gas tank nearby,
Together with the gasoline flowing from the tank, the man in the grey jacket gave an ice-cold laugh as he watched the girl, "You see, I knew you were hiding—"
With the sound of a sharp object piercing flesh, the words of the man in the grey jacket stopped midway.
A sharp and lethal piece of glass had appeared in the girl’s left hand at some point, tightly gripped and stabbed into the man’s neck.
Blood flowed out both from the girl’s palm cut by the glass and from the man’s neck, mixing with the torrential rain.
The man in the grey jacket’s eyes widened.
The blade that had just stabbed towards him was merely a ’lure’ to distract his attention.
His eyes still filled with confusion while his breath slowly ceased.
The girl raised her hand and pulled away the man’s hand clutching her neck.
She was weak, but not that weak. If she couldn’t keep up with his agility, she had to lure him closer. The more she was injured, the less cautious he became.
Transcendents also died if killed.
She staggered to her feet, bypassing the man, and wobbled towards the parked car nearby.
The corpse of the man in the grey jacket rapidly decayed, vanishing in the rain.
The girl stopped in front of the driver’s door, reaching out and pulling her father from the driver’s seat.
Amongst the process, it seemed as though a slight tremble emanated from the silent curtain of rain, as if pairs upon pairs of eyes within the rain opened, watching her.
Ahead, within the silent vehicles, a twisted sound of friction seemed to come forth.
The girl, cradling her father in her arms, looked up, staring straight ahead.
One by one, twisted masses of flesh surged from the flattened vehicles, crawling along the ground, their bodies writhing as they formed ghastly, twisted monsters. They lifted their heads to stare at the lone figure standing on the sidewalk.
The sense of being watched did not dissipate with the appearance of these monsters but grew even more numerous, more intense—as if pairs of invisible eyes covered every inch of the void, every drop of rain, densely watching her.
The girl glanced down at the leaking gasoline on the ground and pulled a windproof lighter from her father’s pocket. She lit it, then flicked it with her finger, throwing it into the gasoline.
In an instant, fierce flames burned in the rain, engulfing the vehicles along their path.
The girl, holding her father, took steps along the sidewalk toward the end of the road.
The violent explosion of a car sounded from behind, and surging flames enveloped one twisted monster after another.
Invisible corpses dissipated in the void, a ceaseless flow of strength poured into the girl’s body.
That barrier which once obscured her memories was torn apart bit by bit; in the surrounding rain, whispers seemed to emerge.
She appeared not to hear any of this, still embracing her father’s body as she continued to move forward with the flowing rain.
Tears seemed to trail down her cheeks, or perhaps it was the rain streaking across her face.
As if the tears of the sky bore the same bitterness as those of humans.
Ahead, on the road, shadowy figures loomed densely. Those figures watched her, their originally human forms gradually distorting as they madly charged toward her.
She killed the first charging monster that waved a scythe, which had cut her shoulder. But she also took the scythe and killed one monster after another that continued to rush at her.
However, she could not fend off all the monsters. The continual surge of strength could not prevent the spread of her injuries.
Wound after wound marked her body, and one monster after another fell at her feet.
The veil of rain blinded her vision. Fire blazed behind her, blood flowed at her feet.
Under the rain, there were more and more monsters, dense and seemingly endless.
And that road stretching to the horizon appeared to have no end.
Ultimately, the towering buildings split from the middle, revealing flesh-bound bodies as one monster after another merged into the buildings.
At this moment, the entire world grew dim.
Blood-soaked and burnt out, the girl collapsed to the ground, still clutching her father firmly in her embrace.
Her body, still covered in wounds, was soaked through with blood, and her shattered memories had long since returned.
She already knew that the father in her arms would never awake again.
The relentless rain pummeled the girl’s body as the massive, monstrous figures finally completed their assembly into a bulky, four-limbed giant.
The firmament grew dim once more; thick darkness, carrying raindrops, enveloped every corner of the world.
Flashing lightning spread across the sky.
The rain grew heavier.
That massive, twisted monster stooped down, slowly stretching out its hand to grasp the girl on the ground, intending to crush her completely.
Gazing at the slowly approaching giant hand, the girl’s expression remained calm.
Her body had already reached its limit, not even mustering the strength to move.
The world seemed to quiet at this moment, as silent as the end of everything.
Death, it seemed, would ultimately arrive.
It was just that the opportunity she’d been given to possess these powers of resistance appeared never to be repaid.
But that gigantic hand ultimately failed to fall.
Roaring thunder once more filled the sky.
An invisible sword edge, like a sharp blade cleaving the heavens, sliced from top to bottom, cutting through the twisted giant as well as the dense clouds.
With the sound of the colossus’s body splitting in two and falling, brilliant lightning, like a bright sun, illuminated everything under the sky.
The figure in the girl’s arms completely faded into an illusion.
In this bright light, the young man holding the invisible sword edge walked out from between the bisected remains of the giant, arriving in front of the girl.
The girl looked up at the young man before her, her mouth opened involuntarily, wanting to wear her signature, sweet smile, but in the end, the smile utterly collapsed into uncontrollable, wailing tears, "Hao Yi... brother..."
In the flowing images of days gone by, the girl wailing as if bereft echoed with the image of a little girl crying on the ground over a decade ago.
Standing under that fierce radiance, the young man looked down at the crying girl and slowly extended his hand toward her.
The flowing rain poured down, falling upon the shoulders of both individuals.
The sobbing girl looked up at the hand in the rain, slowly lifting her bloodstained, mottled little hand, gradually passing through the rain curtain, touching the warmth of his palm.
Then she tightly grasped that hand.
At that moment, the whole world shattered.
