Chapter 1064: Chapter 1064
The speeding train came to a halt amidst the snowfield, and He Ao, donned in a domed top hat, stepped down from the carriage.
He looked up at his surroundings.
The polar night remained unchanged, with the splendid aurora still cascading down from the stars like a curtain.
But the once pristine glaciers around him were now riddled with cracks, and massive blocks of ice, meters in height, lay scattered across the snow-covered icy surface like pebbles.
Web-like fissures, half a meter wide, spread across the entire snowy land, swallowing scattered glimmers of light into their depths.
These were the minor impacts caused by a bit of the power that had leaked from the Wheel of Stars when he summoned it previously.
He raised his hand, feeling the faint connection he had with the Wheel of Stars.
His line of thought was sound, but he had encountered some ’troubles’ while trying to solve the issue, causing the experiment to get stuck at that point.
It was also at this time that Hao Yi’s clone discovered that boy on the verge of ’Awakening’.
In fact, He Ao himself had always been quite intrigued by the process of Awakening.
It seems there was no ’Awakening’ in the Copy Worlds; becoming a Transcendent there required only the intake of Secret Medicine which neutralized the conflict between Talent Sequences to ’advance’.
Yet, ordinary people in the Main World could become Transcendents without any preparations even though there was a high risk of failure and turning into monsters; this phenomenon itself was rather ’miraculous’.
The Mysticism Knowledge possessed by He Ao could not explain this phenomenon, and the three major organizations of the Main World had also conducted research on Awakening, only to arrive at simple conclusions like ’Awakening seems more inclined towards those with a ’perception’ of the Transcendent’.
This was the limit of what the Main World was currently capable of researching.
However, after obtaining the Eye of Truth, He Ao felt that maybe he could find someone to try and ’peek’ into the deeper reasons behind Awakening.
But the Blood Sun event occupied much of his time, and his luck wasn’t great; he had not encountered anyone about to awaken.
Of course, meeting this ’boy’ might not necessarily be due to a sudden change in his luck.
The boy’s Soul was rather robust, with high spiritual nature, and the Talent Sequence he was awakening to glowed with a purple radiance. It was very likely that his Level F Talent Sequence was Talent Sequence 9: Audience.
Looking at his abilities, although not along He Ao’s path, should be adjacent to He Ao’s.
Therefore, it was very likely that he had been attracted by He Ao, or more precisely, by the ’Super Memory’ Qi exuded by Hao Yi’s clone.
Nevertheless, this also provided He Ao with an opportunity.
Thus, he went directly to Feklay in his original body, preparing to observe the entire process of the boy’s ’Awakening’, and to see if this ’Awakening’, which could cram immense power into a frail body, could aid him in controlling the Wheel of Stars.
Of course, during this process, he also involved his original self in the events of the Rong Guang Society, and at the same time conducted multi-link pressure tests on the newly acquired miracle, ’Light of the Firmament’.
The final test results were quite positive. Although in a multi-link state, the power of Light of the Firmament rapidly diminished with an increase in the number of consecutive firings, it was still suitable for large-scale clearance of lesser creatures when controlled well.
It could be used as a map cannon. With its ability to hit targets precisely and strong overall power, it proved to be much better in actual use than the previous Mountain Collapse Tsunami.
Just that when divided into many, it placed high demands on thought and Soul Power. However, He Ao happened to have some advantages in this area, so there was little concern in using it.
Moreover, He Ao speculated that since they all originated from a single source, it might be possible to imbue each branch with a higher essence by appending the source with additional positions.
Naturally, testing Light of the Firmament was just a side endeavor; the greatest gain from this trip was He Ao’s observation of the boy’s ’Awakening’ process.
Firstly, he ascertained that the Talent Sequences obtained after awakening in the Main World weren’t created from nothing but ’floated up’ from some deep space.
These emerging Talent Sequences were ’forced’ into the Awakener’s body through some special ’rules’, then guided to fuse with the Awakener.
In the field of view of the Eye of Truth, the ’rules’ crafting this all seemed to be some essential movement of a world, yet they seemed not to be in ’perfect harmony’ with the essence of the world.
He Ao did not know how these rules came into being, but they indeed replaced the effects of the ’Secret Medicine’ to some extent, allowing ordinary people to integrate basic Talent Sequences better, increasing their chances of becoming Transcendents.
And this provided He Ao with new inspiration.
In his mind, he recalled the ’fluctuation’ of the lines that constituted the essence of the world when the rules were in effect. He Ao raised his head and looked to the sky.
The eyeball embedded in the inverted triangle slowly emerged behind him.
Invisible gusts brushed the ground, signaling that a blizzard might be imminent.
A colossal shadow surfaced from the firmament, obscuring the stars and their radiance.
With a crisp sound, the girl closed the door of the interrogation room.
"Miss Lin Chichi, are you finished?"
The black-haired young man waiting outside immediately approached with his phone, opening an electronic map in front of Lin Chichi, "The place you asked me to look for has some clues in Feklay; the only thing that might meet your requirements is this fortress,"
The black-haired young man looked at Lin Chichi in front of him and quickly explained, "This fortress was originally constructed by the Feklay World Tree to imprison major Transcendent offenders. Later, they built a new ’prison’ underneath the Dew Morning Building, so the fortress was left vacant."
He zoomed in on the map on his phone, clarifying a certain spot, and continued,
"It’s easy to defend and hard to attack, has many blockades set up, and theoretically, it could detain C-level Transcendents and withstand attacks from C-level Transcendents. It is one of the sturdiest fortresses in the entire Trok Republic, even stronger than the current Dew Morning Building."
"Is there anyone in the fortress now?"
Lin Chichi looked at the map and asked quickly.
"There are some ordinary employees and a few junior Transcendents inside maintaining the normal operation of the fortress,"
The black-haired young man replied, "These special facilities are regularly maintained in terms of equipment and buildings, but they are a bit far from the city, at the foot of the mountains outside the city."
Lin Chichi nodded her head. She started walking along the corridor towards the exit, and as she walked, she said, "Go tell Duke that I want this fortress, and I want all the people we caught today transferred to this fortress."
"We don’t have enough manpower. Although we can escort these people, it’s quite a stretch; do we need to ask the Feklay World Tree to send people to help us with the transfer?"
The black-haired young man followed the girl’s pace and asked in a low voice.
Lin Chichi said without hesitation, "Just us, just the people Senwen had brought over. We’ll escort them there."
Hearing this, the black-haired youth was taken aback and asked softly, "Would that be a bit risky? It’s so late today, and the rain hasn’t stopped outside. If it’s just us, there are too many variables."
"We need to leave here as soon as possible."
Lin Chichi shook her head and said calmly.
Hearing this, the black-haired youth’s eyes widened slightly, "Are you saying—you don’t trust the Feklay World Tree?"
"It’s not a question of trust or distrust. I just received some intelligence,"
Lin Chichi shook her head slightly, "You just arrange the transfer."
Hearing Lin Chichi’s words, the black-haired young man nodded, then looked up at Lin Chichi and pondered, "Then what should I tell the World Tree..."
Lin Chichi stopped in her steps, turned around, and glanced at the interrogation room at the end of the corridor, "That this is a necessary action in cooperation with the investigation of the case."
The black-haired young man hesitated for a moment before nodding firmly, "I’ll go take care of it right away."
"No later than one hour from now, I will set off to escort them out of the city."
Lin Chichi spoke calmly.
The black-haired young man nodded, then grabbed his mobile phone and quickly ran toward the end of the corridor.
Watching his figure disappear, Lin Chichi stepped into the elevator nearby, pressing the elevator button, while her hand gently touched the Bluetooth headset on her ear.
"Chichi, what you’re doing is too dangerous,"
Yan Yue’s somewhat angry voice came through the earpiece, "Are you planning to use those captives as bait to draw Daybreak’s attention, to make them come to ’rescue’ them? But have you considered what kind of situation that would put you in?"
Lin Chichi turned around, glancing at the neat elevator reflecting her obedient and cute face, seemingly with not an ounce of aggressiveness.
Then she hooked the corner of her mouth, revealing a row of white teeth with a standard cute smile, "Sister Yan Yue, I’m not weak either."
Yan Yue on the phone was taken aback by her words and laughed out of irritation, "You and that Angel girl together, you were able to jointly slay the Evil Spirit Angel, right?"
"That’s right, I’m super strong."
Lin Chichi nodded, speaking demurely.
"Lin Chichi! You’re not getting past me with your cuteness today!"
Yan Yue raised her tone slightly, "Do you realize how dangerous what you’re doing is?! You’re taking so few people with you, without the protection of the World Tree of Feklay, what if you’re attacked on the way? Who can save you then?"
The elevator reached its floor, and Lin Chichi stepped out.
She looked up at the damaged and dismantled camera overhead and spoke slowly, "Sister Yan Yue, the main bait isn’t just those captives, it’s also me."
Yan Yue was momentarily taken aback, "What do you mean?"
Lin Chichi stretched out her hand, pushing open the door of a small office beside her, speaking with a smile, "Think about it, right now in all of Feklay, I’m the only one leading the investigation into these affairs, and also because of me, those suspected members of Daybreak were captured.
"I’m thinking, Minister He assigned me this role, he probably wants me to clear up the situation here in advance, so as soon as you all arrive, you can dive straight into the investigation.
"If I die now, and those captives are rescued, what would happen?"
"The entire investigation would be back to square one,"
Yan Yue paused slightly, her voice softening, "Based on the information you’ve revealed now, from the perspective of those behind the scenes, they would only think that you’ve figured out the ’clue’ they left leading to the World Tree of Feklay.
"These captives being captured likely wasn’t part of their plan, and after you questioned the captives, you requested a transfer. They can’t be sure if these captives leaked any crucial information,"
At this, she paused, "The best method is to silence you and those captives once and for all before we arrive. When we get there, the focus will still largely be on your current display of ’hostility’ towards the World Tree of Feklay, directing the investigation’s target onto them."
Lin Chichi nodded, "This plan can only be carried out tonight because once you arrive tomorrow, Sister Yan Yue, they may no longer dare make a move on me. At that point, fishing will no longer be an option."
"But your plan is still too dangerous,"
Yan Yue was silent for a moment, speaking slowly, "When people go fishing, they’re supposed to be stronger than the fish, and you are just a little shrimp."
"But that’s exactly why I’m a little shrimp,"
Lin Chichi chuckled, "That’s why the fish will come."
She lifted her hand, touching the grass-woven amulet in her pocket, "And the little shrimp isn’t weak either."
Yan Yue started to speak, apparently wanting to say more.
"Sister Yan Yue, we might not have much time left,"
But at this moment, Lin Chichi cut her off,
"I have a feeling that they’re very ’anxious.’
"I’ve talked to the people who were saved by Brother Hao Yi, and those from the Rong Guang Society have been capturing people at a markedly higher frequency lately.
"The members of the Rong Guang Society who were captured in Mote City said it too, they were also emphasized that this is the final moment.
"I always feel like the Rong Guang Society is racing against time with us. On one hand, they’re trying to use various methods to obstruct our investigation, and on the other hand, they’re speeding up their pace of capturing people."
She sighed, "So I think we don’t have much time left. If we investigate everything by the book, we may get drawn into their rhythm, and then we’ll be continually one step behind.
"That’s why we need to use some ’cunning strategy,’ to proactively lure them into exposing their flaws, to break the game from a place they don’t expect, to take the initiative into our own hands."
Yan Yue on the phone silenced for a bit.
"Rest assured, Sister Yan Yue,"
The girl reached for the stainless steel dagger beside her, gazing at the pattern on it, "I’m confident."
The gradually dwindling raindrops slowly fell from outside the window, settling into the drenched city.
"That little girl wants to leave the city with her team alone?"
Seated behind the desk, Duke looked at his subordinate, "Has she lost her mind?"
"She seems to have gotten some sort of lead,"
The subordinate replied quickly, "Suspecting that it was us who kidnapped Senwen."
Duke leaned back in his chair, spinning it around to face the rain curtain outside the window, "A little girl with ambitions as high as the heavens. If she’s seeking death, then let her seek it."
Helicopter rotors roared in the rain curtain
The handsome young man sat within the helicopter, glancing at the rain outside the door.
"Vice President, where are we heading now?"
The man beside him asked respectfully.
"Go to the gathering point."
The young man’s voice sounded aged.
"The southern outposts are currently relocating Human Sacrifices to the gathering point,"
The man pondered and said, "I feel something is strange on their end. The events of tonight are full of suspicion. Could there be a tail following us?"
The young man shook his head, his gaze calmly fixed on the rain, softly speaking, "If there’s a tail, just snip it off."
