Chapter 70: Chapter 70

“What is going on?” Catia approached me the moment, I entered. I watched as our other siblings eyed us, my brothers especially. They must have guessed what was.

“What mother wanted for me.” I replied my sister. I watched as Catia eyes farrowed as she tried to reason what I said. I saw the exact moment she understood. The joy in her gaze and then she hugged me.

“I am happy brother. Congratulations.” She replied before she went back to our siblings.

I walked to the throne, the direction which everybody was facing and in front of everybody, I sat down in the seat meant for Yama. Utter silence filled the room, regardless of the people in it. All eyes on me as they realized that this was me over throwing my brother.

“Any questions?” I asked.

“What about the king…” A Mareikura asked, pushing forward. I was amazed by her effrontery, especially since she saw me on the throne.

“I am king.” I replied in a sublime tone as I stared her down.

“Kill her.” I said quietly and at once, Mazikeen lashed out at her and she dropped dead on the floor. The cries of surprise started as everybody shifted away from her. “Anybody want to ask that question in the right manner.” When nobody spoke up. I pointed out a Nisse who started crying as she stuttered the words.

“Where is your brother who is not present here?” She asked then used her hand to cover her head.

“Good.” I smiled at her. “I do not know where that spineless bastard went to hide but I assure you that his wife pet, Soren, second in command is dead. Someone should retrieve his body from my future room and burn it. See if you can send his ashes to his mother.” I ordered.

“Kastav, what the hell is wrong with you?” Sergius asked. He was the brother who came after me.

He could be a threat.

The voice said to me.

I did not think so but then again, Arius never thought I was a threat either.

“He is doing what needs to be done.” Catia cuts in before I could come to a decision about what to do with him. “Arius has been sleeping for days, he might not wake up and Northshore is in the hands of foreigners. Our father would be rolling in his grave, somebody needed to correct that wrong and Kastav stepped up.”

“Catia.” I called and when she turned to face me. I stretched my hand out to her. She approached me slowly and when she placed her hand in mine, I directed her to Gwenn throne. She sat on it gingerly, confusion on her face.

“You will help me keep others in line while I try to repair damages done to Northshore.” I ordered. She nodded and after she did, I smiled.

“If anybody disobey you, regardless of if he or she is our sibling, threaten that they will end up as Sergius ended up in my hands.”

“Brother, what do you mean?” She asked but I had already turned away from Catia and started approaching Sergius who now looks frightened but my mind was made up. He would be the example used to keep the rest of my siblings in line.

Within seconds, Sergius was dead, his life force drained from him to feed the entity in me.

“Any questions?” I asked as I look around, noting the disbelief in the rest of my brothers face and the tears of my sisters.

“None? Good. Meeting is over, get back to what you were doing before.” I ordered before I turned and walked away.

As I left, I heard Catia clear her throat. “That needed to be done, no king authority should be undermined. An official proclamation should be prepared. King Kastav should be announced to the world.”

Catia was the right choice and she used the right words too.

To the world. Very soon the whole world would know and fear the name Kastav.

Gwenn Pov

You know the way, you have a guardian of it by your side.

Those were one of the last foresights Silana imparted me with before she left. Adela was a guardian of the ultimate power. Having my thoughts racing as I wondered what had happened in my absence, I connected the dots.

Adela was a guardian of the ultimate power, she was a Mngwa, a pet of the gods, she was not meant to stay in the ordinary world. She had a mission to fulfil, a mission that has been delayed with over a thousand years. Was she the same Mngwa as the Queen Trisha’s own, I do not know but I do know that she knows the way. She was seen as a goddess. Bless by the gods but was she fully blessed. I didn’t think so.

Adela paused at the base of a small mountain, beside which a man with long white hair was sitting, some how he reminded me so much of Gogan.

I came down from my horse as I approached the man.

“You are not ready for what you seek, go back.” The man said.

“I might not be ready but I have no choice. Lives are at stake.”

“Yes, he awoken and bound with a vile human like himself before you could be ready but it does not change the fact that you are not ready. If you go ahead, you might die.” He warned.

“But if I do not go, everybody else might die along with me.” I responded.

“I cannot let you proceed.” The man said as she shifted to the side to let Adela continue on her way to the top.

I did not have any other option, I could not go back saying a failed. I might never see Arius eyes twinkle with mischief again. With that thought, I drew my sword out.

“I am ready to fight my way through.” I responded.

The man looked at me confused. “You are doing this because of love in your heart.” He responded. “For a king who abused you under a curse placed generations ago.”

I ignored the rest part of his statement choosing to focus only on the part I could understand. “Yes, I am doing this for love. To save the man I love. He is among your people, that should count for something.”

“It does not, However the love in your heart does.” The man stood up. “Love is all that counts.”

“Who are you?” I asked. This was not a northerner. This was something else.

“Me?” The man smiled. “I am Ra, the spirit that guides the passageway. You will be the first to get past me since this place was formed. Go ahead, for your intentions are pure even though you might not survive what lies ahead because you are not ready… then again, love is involved. Whenever it is involved, certainties becomes unknown.”

I thanked the spirit as I ran into the mountain but the moment I stepped on it, the scene disappeared from my eyes as a new vision filled my mind. Me coming down from the mountain with the power I seek but I was too late to help Arius, he was dead. The question remained. Would I still want the power and will I still deceive the evil.

My answer was yes and it was solely because I would be avenging Arius death and I refused to fail. I was that stubborn!

I passed that test and I opened my eyes to see I was on the top of a very high cliff. Not at the edge though but there was fog surrounding where I was coming from, wherever that was again. I knew that I could not trust my sense of sight.

At the edge of the cliff stood Adela.

“Step away from there Adela.” I tried to bring Adela back to me but she just yawned and walked right off the cliff, after looking at me deliberately like I was supposed to follow her.

Could it be?

I did not know what to do but if Adela was one of the guardians and she was leading me off the cliff, I was ready to believe that this was either a mirage or a leap of faith. Steeling myself, I reached the edge of the cliff and without overthinking about the results, I jumped off it.

When I opened my eyes, I saw the Golden Queen before me wearing a smile. A shinning tree behind her and Adela curling her body around the legs of the queen.

Congratulations Gwenn, it is now time to know the full story and save our people.
