Chapter 68: Chapter 68

Gwenn pov

Something was wrong and I felt it, someone had just died and this person was closed to me, I jumped up from my bed just as Silana screamed and her eyes went open.

“Who?” I asked Silana who shook her head at me.

“I am sorry Gwenn. So sorry.” She added as Tears came down from her eyes. I would have demanded to know more if my attention was not taken from her. The air felt wrong.

“What’s going on?” I asked Silana.

“Death, the reign has come.” Silana replied, her words and the somber way she said it sent chills down my spine.

“All that is left is that you find what you seek and return before Northshore will be left with nothing.” Silana said.

Adela brushed her body against mine and when I looked at her, she moved towards the door. “I have to go?”

“You have to continue your journey from here by yourself and alone, you have to be quick about it.” Silana said as she started to pack my things.

“What about you?” I asked her, noticing she said only me, Silana doesn’t make mistakes like this.

“Here is where our journey divides, I have something which I need to do and you have a world to save.” Silana said as I looked at her confused.

I was so confused at everything, I didn’t understand what was going on and she were not making it easier on me to collect my thoughts.

“You have to tell me more than this, what will I do? I know I am looking for something…”

“You know the way and you have a guardian of it by your side.” Her eyes went to Adela on purpose. “Now all you have to do is be fast about it, we have ran out of time.” She added and with that she started packing her things, mine was already packed and I knew that she was right.

I hurried to my horse, in the dead of the night, acting like a thief who was escaping from the people who were all sleeping, grateful for the queen who graced them with her presence. I had a feeling, this will be the last time I had the luxury of sleeping in a town and in a bed. I steered my horse to follow Adela who was racing ahead of me.

I trusted my instincts and my instincts said to trust Adela and she sensed the urgency too. A lot has happened this night, something fundamental has shifted and I need to go back.

But before going back, I can only move forward.

Themis Pov

I woke up with a start, it has started and we shouldn’t be here. I had ignored my feeling of us leaving for too long that I miscalculated.

“Themis.” Orel called by my side as he slowly sat up.

“It is time that we move while we can Orel.” I whispered to him as I stood up and quickly went around putting my clothes on, Orel was doing the same thing but talking as he did.

“This does not make sense, what is going on Themis?”

“There is no time for explanations, we need to leave.” I whispered at him, something about my urgency must have connected to him because he nodded and while I grabbed Elison as softly as I could so that he would not wake up and cry, Orel started packing some things.

“Leave everything behind.” I tell him, “There is no time, we have to go now.”

I said as I opened the door only to see Kastav by the other side, or rather something that was wearing Kastav face and body but wasn’t him. I slowly shifted away from the door.

“What’s going on?” Orel asked behind.

“Good, I can see that you both are awake.” Kastav said as he advanced towards the room and shut the door behind him while I shifted away from him, retreating and placing a hand on Orel to do the same.

“You are not supposed to be here.” Orel said to Kastav and I squeezed Orel hand tightly in a bid to keep my husband mouth shut, he still hasn’t realized what was going on.

“And who is going to remove me, you?” Kastav snorted. Orel’s hand tightened on the sword that he was hold.

“Don’t please.” I begged Orel who looked like he was seconds away to cleave Kastav into two, Orel was fast, faster than anything I have ever seen, I would want him to do this if it was just Kastav, I would not be even worried but it wasn’t Kastav, I didn’t know what this thing in front of me was but it was not something to be trifled with.

“Please do.” Kastav stated with a grin as he advanced towards us. “I assure you that you will meet the same fate as Sorens did, he was cocky until the end but he didn’t stand a chance.”

Tears fell from my eyes as it became clear that he killed Sorens and possibly the king since Sorens was always with the king, a protection which Gwenn installed for her husband before leaving.

“He did nothing wrong, you should not have killed him.” I protested as Kastav tilted his head at me.

“I think you are worried about the wrong things War lady. You should be more worried about yourself.”

“I am more of a warrior than Sorens.” Orel stated.

“Yes you are but he is not natural, if he was a normal foe, you could defeat him but he is a demon.” I blurted out to Orel but I kept my eyes on the threat in the room.

Kastav eyes widened in shock. “Well done with your observation, You just spared your life for a while because I need to keep you alive to figure out what you are because you are not completely natural either.” Kastav chuckled. “Unfortunately, I cannot let others know that you are alive because you have control of Northshore. I will put you in a special brand of prison, one you cannot get out of and one which you might not survive. Good luck.” Kastav said.

“You cannot do that.” I protested even as I felt a portal open behind me.

“You will be surprised that I can do a lot of things.” He grinned and something grabbed at my legs and dragged me into the swirling black thing behind me and I saw as Orel tried to hold on to me only to be dragged along too, as soon as we entered and started falling, the portal started closing and I watched as Kastav turned his back away.

“Remaining only the council to deal with.” He stated as he turned and walked away just as the portal closed and everywhere was plunged into deep darkness. I didn’t know if I lost consciousness after that but as everywhere went blank, so did my mind.
