Chapter 45: Chapter 45
Arius
Gwenn is always giving big blows to my confidence without even knowing it, All I did was to tell her I love her and the next thing she does is to run away from the room as fast and far as she could like my words were contagious and me saying it to her was going to make her feel that way about me.
Not like it was a bad thing. Heavens know that at least that girl deserves to be happy but she isn’t and it was all my fault.
Maybe I was being too forward, I never told anybody other than my mother those words before and she didn’t run way, I can’t help but think it wasn’t the way I went about saying it but she just wasn’t happy with the words.
Why will she happy? When I say that I love her and yet another woman has my baby. I was not sure I was ever going to live that down but I need her to see that she is the one whom I want, not Faye. I have been saying it for a long time now but she still refused to believe.
This time, she ran out with a fake excuse too.
Someone knocked on my door and I answered absently, thinking it would be Kastav or one of my brother but to my surprise, it was the woman herself with white hair and her babe with tick black hair, like that of his father.
“Are you busy?” She asked standing by the door as I smiled.
“Never for you. Have a seat.” I replied her with a smile. Maybe Gwenn did not give a fake reason for leaving the meeting, maybe she sensed that they were back. After all with the way her powers were going now, there was something unnatural about them. More unnatural than the usual way in which we Northerners are. Well it could be because she is a foreigner. That was the only reason why the power is different when it comes to her.
“If you can talk like this, why don’t you talk this way to Gwenn?” Themis asked as she tilted her head and stared at me in confusion.
“Maybe because I am scared that she should not hit me or do something equal to that. Have you seen this girl in an angry rage? I have and let me tell you, it is not funny.” I replied Themis who smiled at my words.
“I thought you would have ended up being with her by now. You took your sweet time and because I told you how she was the one for you, you started to act like a bastard and you slept around.” Themis started as I winced, Of course I was expecting this conversation.
I was also dreading it. When me and Themis stated the terms for marriage, she put that once I included another woman into Gwenn’s home, a concubine like kings were fond of doing, that Gwenn actually has the power to leave me and the marriage alone.
I am guessing that Gwenn didn’t know of this term because, if she did. She would have left.
“I am sorry about that. When you told me that I would not find a woman more perfect for me. I was actually looking forward to her being just that. Perfect.” I replied as Themis shook her head.
“Gwenn is certainly not what comes to mind at that word, which makes me say, Why are you not happy? Faye is that, perfect for you.”
I started shaking my head the minute she said the name. “Faye is anything but perfect and I don’t want Faye, I want Gwenn.” I looked at her pleading, hoping that she came here not to tell me to stop dreaming but because she actually have some advice for me to follow.
“Gwenn heart is made and set up against you. There is literally nothing you can do to change her mind now. She has been hurt before, By a man who took another and you did the same.” Themis said as I closed my eyes.
I was angry and I was sad. I was sad that I kept reminding her that I may be just like the man who hurt her and I was angry that some man hurt her that way. I looked at Themis, wanting to demand she tell me what happened but she shook her head.
“Even Orel refused to tell me what happened and all I know is that you hurt her almost in the same manner. Gwenn is someone who is very tough, especially when she has her defenses up but I want her to be happy in the long run and the only way I see that happening is if she is with you so I am going to give you some time.” Themis announced and I was confused.
“Some time for what?” I asked.
“For you to win Gwenn heart, my husband will not leave her here if she is still sad by the time we plan on leaving and future happiness of not, I don’t also plan on leaving her here. You have until we decided to leave to get Gwenn to love you because as we are leaving, I will tell her that she can either chose to stay or leave.”
“How am I supposed to do this?” I groaned as I covered my head with my hands.
“You will figure it out but I can provide you some pointers.” Themis said as my head went up very fast, so fast that her baby gave a giggle of excitement at my movement.
Themis smiled at her baby as she continued to talk. “Gwenn likes physical activates, train with her, take her hunting. Always be with her, Sorens loves her. You cannot command him to leave her alone, if you pull ranks over her, she will fight back. She has always been that way. Just send Sorens on different duties while you get to spend time with her. Include her in every part of your day and tell her the little things you noticed about her and in case I am confusing you with my words, I am telling you to romance her, not seduce her.” Themis concluded as I smiled at her.
“Thank you Themis.” I said to her and she smiled her response to me. When I stood up Elison made another excited noise again and I couldn’t help but look at him, He had the same hair color as Gwenn and even though she and Orel were not related, the hair made them look like blood siblings.
I stretched my hand out for him and Themis placed him gently on my hand.
I stared into his small chubby face and fell in love, he was staring at me with wide eyes, like I was the strange person here meanwhile he was the strange one because of his size.
“He likes you.” Themis said softly as I stared at him, not responding. “Don’t worry Arius, you will make a great father. In two years, you will have your own miniature copy.”
My cheeks started pulling at a smile but it changed to a frown when I realized the time frame she gave. “Two years? Faye is pregnant.”
Themis looked shocked like she revealed something which she wasn’t supposed to. “Tell me Themis. Please.” I begged.
Themis shook her head and actually looked relieved when her son started crying in my hands as if he felt his mother mounting tension.
“Looks like I spoke too soon, He doesn’t like you.” She said as she took her baby back from me and I couldn’t help my thoughts moving to different directions.
What exactly did she mean by her words?
