Pissed off was a word which didn’t describe the way I truly felt, it was not enough and I was basically fuming, when I saw Sorens while I was in my mist form again, I didn’t think of it and I continued to my room, as soon as I entered and shut the door, I threw my table at it in anger.
How dare he pull the Yama card on me? Father has been dead for less than a week and he was already wanting to punish Catia, Who gave him that right?
It didn’t matter that Catia was a little out of line but then again when is that girl not always out of line besides, it was the foreigner’s fault. They all were exactly the same, Gwenn, Themis all of them, none of them had a right to be here in Northshore and be talking about issues which doesn’t concern them. Catia life was not related to Themis concern at all. She should have kept her mouth shut.
I hate being powerless and not being able to do anything, not just that but having no choice to stomach Arius rule for now, I didn’t know how long I will have before I will rip my hair out and attack him in anger because he pushed me too far with his ways.
And there was little possibility of me winning because Arius powers now exceeded my own with great distinction since he is now the Yama.
“What if I give you powers which are way greater than that of every measly human that exists now, Equal to none except the golden queen?” The voice that spoke when I was in my father’s room spoke again and this time, I was less scared but I still thought about the strangeness of it all.
“Why would you want to do that?” I challenged. “You know nothing about me and what I am like, why would you want to make such a mistake.”
“It wouldn’t be one, you are perfect for this.” It answered as my eyebrows raised.
Perfect? This thing knows nothing about me.
“Wrong!” It voice resounded in my head as I clutch my head and groaned at the force behind the words. “I know everything about you that is need. You have the drive, the passion and the will to see this through, you remind me of myself when I was in your position and I succeeded too…until the golden queen decided to stop me.”
“Golden queen?” I asked.
“My mortal enemy, I will tell you more about it if you come to the Meadow, long distance communication weakens me, I am still not at full strength and I need to be soon.”
“You just admitted that you are weak.” I pointed out. “Why will I come to meet you still…?”
“Because even in my weakened state, I have enough power to provide you what you need to defeat your brother and take what is rightfully yours.” The voice added as I grew pensive.
“What would you want in return?” I asked and instead, it responded in a weakened tone.
“You want to know more, you come to the meadow this night and alone.” The voice said, the voice strong in the beginning but eventually faded as it spoke.
“And if I don’t?” I asked but the voice didn’t reply. “Hello?” I asked and then I noticed that I felt lighter, like there was a weight on up of me before and I was just relieved of it.
I was prepared to put this conversation out of my mind but what happened at Dinner continued to flash through my head. “It wouldn’t be long until Catia or any of our sisters annoyed Arius or his new family who are a brunch of foreigners. When he sides with them and wants to punish our sisters, I know that I was definitely going to stand and protest and then he will face me and I would not be able to protect myself.
“To hell with this.” I muttered as I stormed out of my room and went to the stables. Taking my horse, I started my night journey to the meadow and when I got there, I was cold and upset.
“You better show yourself.” I called out as I went to the middle of the Meadow, thinking that it was the prefect place for me to see this thing that requested for my presence.
“I am here now, don’t keep me waiting.” I added.
“You will not order me around.” A voice said behind me and when I quickly turned to face it, I saw a shadow sitting on the floor with bright shining eyes string right at me. The waves of evil I was feeling from it was shocking but I kept my mouth shut.
Never have I seen or heard of this. A shadow independent of anything and anybody, which can talk and…
“I transcend more than just tied to a being. I became a shadow and much more. You can have untold power through me…”
“What do you want?” I asked, cutting his speech short.
The shadow chuckle sounded in my head. “You have a lot of Nerve to cut me short while I am talking. Don’t try it next time.”
“You cannot tell me what to do?” I protested and all I felt was a rush of wind before something moved so fast and hit me on my cheek, my body sailed the air at the hit and I crashed against a tree. I wheezed, trying to get my breath back when the shadow bent down close to me.
“You still think I can’t?” It asked and when I didn’t reply, it nodded its head and started to talk.
“Once upon a time, I was like you and then I became more than you and every other woman. The gods didn’t like that a mortal could reach their level of power so they created a goddess so as to defeat me, her title was the golden queen and in the end, she could not defeat me so she decided to end magic knowing that I had fully become Mafic and that means that I will be ended too. She didn’t have the mind to wipe it all from existence so she left just enough to protect the heritage of her people, people she grew to love and wanted to protect. I hide myself and was protected even as magic suffered and it was only when her reincarnate activated her powers, that was when my consciousness started again.”
“What does this mean for me?” I asked the shadow who shook his head at me.
“Find your golden queen and kill her and I will grant you powers beyond your wildest dream, we can rule and conquer this world together. You just won’t be a Yama. You will be referred to as the almighty.”
“And what about you?” I asked the shadow. “If I am the almighty, what are you?”
“I will be you. We will be one, a team that surpasses all other teams. Power untold, all you have to do is kill the golden queen after finding her.”
I would never be king through right means but this felt like a different level of wrong. “Nobody will ever be above you ever again.” The shadow whispered in my ears and I nod.
That was my greatest wish.
“What do I do?” I asked.
“Open yourself up to me.” The shadow said and that was what I did, all my mind defenses dropped and spreading out my hands, I offered myself to the shadow who entered me and infuse with every part of me.
It wasn’t painful but it was not painless too. I felt powerless and at the same time filled with power. I was a contradiction on so many levels that I couldn’t fully differentiate it all.
It took less than a minute and yet it felt like forever and by the time we were done being one, I felt back to being myself but with an extra conscience. A weight settled on my chest.
“Time to return back to the palace, my king.” The shadow offered and without a word, I turned to return back to my room.
Tomorrow, I will sort everything out because right now, I felt like I was in control and at the same time, like I had none.
I hope I didn’t just make the greatest mistake of my life.
