Chapter 29: Chapter 29

When the sun was high in the sky, we set out for the forest and while this was a new experience for me, I was the only one comfortable into going in the forest, although we were about ten who went and were armed up to our teeth. The rest wore a scared but brave look while Sorens body was filled with tension, than again he was not scared of the danger that lies ahead but rather, he was filled with tension because he wanted to protect me from it.

At intervals, I got them to stop and place traps covered with some fallen leaves, some sharp and meant to injure while others were meant to just imprison and do nothing more.

The forest was filled with tall trees that had broad leaves and had enough space between them that the forest didn’t look overcrowded or too scanty, I saw the charm in this place, a perfect place for playing with friends and a perfect place for children. I thought so until I reached the river.

“This river flows through Magelyn too it comes out of that rock and flow through Northshore, Some say it flows off into a huge Cliffside but it can’t be because it will just mean that Northshore is on a mountain and that is not possible.” Sorens explained as he stood beside me while taking in the beauty of this place.

“Me and my brother used to come here once in a week to have a picnic with my mother, she loved the quietness of this place.” He added.

“This was another Paradise with something strange going on, I cannot let this danger continue to exist to prevent future children from coming here. I want to take my children here for a swim when they grow old enough.”

“We might do that.” Soren replied as I faced him with my eyes widened in shock, there was no mistaking what he meant. He meant our children, the ones we will have and that was not possible. I was not expecting that at all.

“I am sorry, my queen.” He stammered out.

“Never repeating that and in fact, I didn’t hear anything.” I tell him as I went back to where others were and helped in creating a camp site.

The night was quiet until it wasn’t, others were sleeping and it was me and Sorens turn to play night guards. That was when the singing started.

Sorens stiffened as within a second, his sword was drawn but I was entranced by the song, I have never heard something so beautiful. I wanted to know the cause, I stood up.

“Take another step forward and I will knock you out.” Sorens said as I froze.

“Do you hear the singing?” I asked Sorens. “It is beautiful.”

“It is but it also seems like the woman was right, we do have a guest who is not supposed to exist. Wake the others.” Sorens ordered. I would have had a problem with his tone if I didn’t know that he must be going crazy with worry and trying his best not to show it.

“Sorens?” I called.

“Yes my queen?” He said, not taking his eyes from the direction which the singing was taking place.

“Do you know how to kill a Gurumapa?”

“No. I don’t think anybody alive knows how to kill one.” I nodded at his words, my head already clearing and not being affected from the song this demon sang.

“I think that we will have a wonderful time finding ways to prolong this demon death, we now have a legitimate reason to torture.” I grinned as Sorens looked at me in shock at my happiness.

“It might be more powerful than us.” Sorens pointed out.

“Imagine the thrill of bring it to its knees and cutting the head off.” I answered as I shook others away.

They all stiffen as the song and one took a step in that direction but I stood in front of him.

“You are not going anywhere, not without us.” I answered. The man shook his head to clear it and then nodded and when they were ready, we all moved to Sorens who was still glaring so hard in that direction like his gaze could bring down the demon through his gaze alone.

I laid a hand on his shoulder before, we all advanced like a group. What we didn’t expect to see was a woman who was sitting on a fallen tree wearing white and facing another direction with her white torn.

“They never said that a Gurumapa took the shape of a woman.” Anlow said as his weapon in his hand lowered a bit.

The rest looked confused too but an idea popped into my head like a sudden breeze. “No but it could be a master of illusion.” I suggested and just as soon as the words came out of my mouth, the song intensifies as it seems as if the lady fell and then Anlow screamed as something wrapped around his throat but I was ready.

I cracked my whip in a circle around him, it was hard to manage a tight turn like that without harming him but I could manage.

My whip connected hard with something from the other side of Anlow facing the trees.

Something roared in a distance as the woman seemed to melt and fade away. I took off after the creature who I was sure was already in flight.

“Gwenn.” Sorens roared after me as he curses and I felt his thundering steps behind me as he chased after me. Good, between the two of us. I was sure that we could kill this thing.

I got to an opening, one of those that were scattered around the forest and slipped on something, I felt something cold wrap around my leg and it looked like it has learnt its mistake, it didn’t wait before it started dragging me towards it’s direction.

Instead of fear, all I could feel was amusement. Sorens yelled after me and so as not to give him a heart attack, I swung my sword, severing the part that was tied to my leg and was connected to the being. I really hope that was not his tongue.

Ii gave a whimper this time and I stood up, as I approached the direction, it was dragging me to.

“You have been a naughty child.” I taunted just as something black flew to my face but I bent down just as Sorens sword swung at it. All Sorens could do was push it to the side, where it collapse on a tree and started to cry.

I turned to look at it to see a small round being that was a blob of darkness, I knew that if it was daytime, I would have seen more than I was now but what I was seeing was enough for me to realize that it was just a baby.

“You are really a naught child.” I said as I let my sword fall.

“My queen, what are you doing?” Sorens asked me, his eyes widening at my actions.

“Relax, he won’t hurt or attack any of us again. It has learnt his lesson.” I approached the tiny blob that wasting to make itself tinier.

“Hello little one, what are you doing here? Where is your family?” I asked and the blob shook hard as its wailing sound increased.

A phrase flashed through my head like it was speaking directly to me.

Home, I. lost. Even the voice used was that of a baby.

“All he wants is to go home.” I added thoughtfully.

“Are you out of your mind?” Sorens gripes, probably not understanding why I was sitting around and having a conversation with a Blob that was responsible for too many children death. “Just kill it and be done for.”

“And if we do that, what about his family, when they find a way into this world and see that he is dead. If a baby could wreck this much havoc just because he was starving, imagine what his father or angry mother will do in rage.” I asked Sorens.

“He?”

“Yes. He, he is just a little child who needs to go home.” I replied thoughtfully, my hand still stroking its cold head as he tried to shuffle closer to me as if he misses the touch of another.

A memory flashed into my mind, not one of me but one of the golden queen who did a symbol with her hand and round object was created and she could pass through with a large cat by her side and appear in the middle of a meadow.

“I know what to do.” I said as I stood up.

“You will send it home?” Soren rolled his eyes with his tone sarcastic.

“Yes, I will.” I replied just as I started the hand movement, when I was done drawing my hand around the last circle, nothing happened at fist until a shimmer started and then a portal of gold started to shine. Soren gasp but I was peering into the circle to see if it works. When I heard a whimper close to the being behind me own, I knew I did the right thing. Before I could say anything, the blob behind me ran and jumped into the portal screaming excitedly and that was when the bigger version of it turned. The mother, I guess used her head to rub her son’s body before she raised her head to look at the portal and me in return and to my greatest surprise. Her head bowed to me and I could hear her thoughts just like her son.

“Thank you, my golden queen and welcome back.” I looked at her in shock but the portal started closing.

“What was that?” Sorens asked me shakily when the portal disappeared, not like I could blame him, my legs could barely continue to carry my weight.

“I don’t know but…” I would have continued if not for the noise of people moving towards us and calling our names.

“My queen, Sorens.” Anlow called racing towards us as others followed behind him.

“What happened?” He asked. “Did you see the Gurumapa?”

“Yes.” I replied with a smile. “Don’t worry, it is taken care of, It won’t bother here again.”
