Chapter 21: Chapter 21
Gwenn
After crying my eyes out, I laid my head on Sorens legs and slept while he kept watch. I was exhausted both physically and mentally.
I wish that my dreams would take note of that fact but they didn’t, instead, all they did was to come up with a weird plain.
The scene which took place in my dreams was modelled after the one that I saw when I was in my weird trance state, the ceremony and ritual for my ascension as a commander of the Northshore legion.
The grassy plains, bathed with a golden light with no sun present, the grasses and scanty trees this time around were green and not the dried up, barely surviving plants I saw last time.
“Hello?” I asked softly.
“Who am I seeing this time?”
“Hello?”
I thought this time around I was truly alone until I heard a haunting melody, the woman in Gold came out from inside me and with a gasp, I was struggling to breathe when she held me in her arm and then started singing to the melody. The song was one which sounded like a farewell song to those departed and it was in another language. There was an urgency in the song which could not be described but was enough to cause goosebumps to rise on my skin.
“I don’t understand.” I tell the woman as gently as I could.
“The forgotten world rises, People are not aware. The forgotten world rises, People will be slain. The forgotten world rises, people will die. The forgotten world rises, only you can protect the people.” And with those words, she rushed back into my body, with a speed that had me breathing hard in shock and when I opened my eyes, I was in my body.
“Are you okay?” Sorens asked me as I jumped up.
“Yes, of course. I am fine.” I smiled shakily. “Let’s start going.”
“Are you sure you want to return to that place now?” Sorens frowned at me.
“Yes, I do.” I said sharply.
“We need to hurry.” I answered.
“What is going on?” Sorens asked but he started to move anyway.
“Something is coming, we have to go back to the palace now.” I stated. Soren nodded and within minutes we were on our horses and riding back to the palace at neck breaking speed. As soon as we left the meadow, I felt relatively better but all was not clear yet.
In fact, something was singing in me that this was just the beginning.
***********
By the time we got to the Palace, I was smiling and joking around, all things about the pregnancy and the meadow and the weird vision I had were forgotten until I reached my former hallways with Sorens beside me only to see my things being packed out of my room by the princesses their selves while Nisses were around, swinging their hands together as they were unsure of what to do.
“Oh, look ladies, she is back.” Catia called as Vastae and Vala dropped my new set of throwing knives on the floor like it didn’t matter and approached me, they all stood in front of me with their hands folded across their chests, wearing grins on their faces like a king just propose to them.
“We are just helping you start with the moving process, we need to make space for our little nephew.” Vala said.
“Yes, we want him to be comfortable so we are throwing the junk out of his room.”
Before I could reply them, Silana came out of my room, carrying a few shoes and humming under her breathe.
“Silana?” I asked hurt, I never expected her to join in this.
“Hey Gwenn, I have seen the perfect room for you, you will love it, it had a view worth gold and a garden close to it. The kitchen is also nearby.” She smiled happily at me while her sisters snickers and then went back to bring more of my things.
“Why are you doing this?” I thought that you wanted me to grow up… I thought you liked me.” I asked Silana while Sorens coughed behind me.
“Cub, I do like you, which is why I am doing this. I also like my brother. The best way for a man to appreciate what he has is if he lost it. I am just helping my brother lose you quicker and also the best way for a cub to grow up is away from the eyes of the enemy.”
“The kitchen?” I asked her.
“Best room so far, you will see that the room holds a lot of treasures and secrets, in fact. It is the best option for you.” She added.
I would have been offended if I had not seen the sparkle in her eyes. There was something that was going on or that will happen and this girl was aware of it but she wants me to find it on my own.
“Okay fine. Sorens. Please help me with my things.” I said.
Sorens looked like he wanted to complain but I shook my head so he swallowed all his protests and directed some Nisse to pick my stuff and as one, we all followed Silana who led us to the room and when we got there, the room was wider than usual and airy, much more better than the gloomy room which I was in.
“Perfect.” Silana clapped her hands delighted and then she looked at Sorens.
“You would need to do something soon, don’t hesitate or it will cost you your life in the long run.” I looked at Silana who seemed to do what Themis always does but Silana has already moved to the open windows where she was gushing about how bright the day looked and all that and then when the Nisses have dropped my things and gone back for more, Silana froze.
“Silana?” I asked her.
“It is time. It is starting.” She said stiffly.
“What is?” Sorens asked with a roll of his eyes, him just like most people including her sisters, thought Silana was crazy but I know better than to think even the crazy ones are just crazy.
“We need to go, now.” She said as she ushered us to the front of the palace, just as Arius and the council members and a few other people rushed outside.
“The air has changed.” Sorian said with a serious expression.
And before our very eyes, a blast of light started from the direction of the meadows and shot straight to the sky.
“What was that?” A council member asked.
Silana giggled excitedly. “War, chaos and disaster of the likes we have never seen.”
Everybody turned to look at her but Silana stared directly at me. “Be prepared.” She said seriously then she turned and skipped away mumbling how she was done with her work for the day and how it was time to go play with her plants before her news friends would come.
I shivered as I realized that her words and the golden woman words were almost the same.
Something was coming.
