Chapter 54

"First of all, happy happy birthday to the only Señorita," she began her greeting to which I immediately responded with smiles. "From childhood until you reached the right age, I witnessed you grow up," she continued and then looked at the audience while I looked at her. "She's a very smart kid," she said. I was just listening but I really wanted to speak but I just passed by with a wide smile. "She grew up in a with a good heart and a brave woman," she stopped and turned to look at me with a smile. That smile of her was so sweet and meaningful that it moved butterflies inside my stomach. "She knows how to handle herself," she said and then looked at the audience again. I also looked at the audience with Nanny Yuna's eyes focused on us. "Her parents are very lucky because they have a good child, they have her. They are so lucky to have a daughter like her, a kind and a good daughter." I noticed she thought Mommy and Daddy were there. Both have smiles on their lips that nourish especially my heart. The pleasure in my chest was almost overflowing. This is really the feeling. It was so much fun and so heart -warming that it almost felt like my chest was going to explode with the sheer pleasure I was feeling. "Sometimes, she's really rude but it's not immediately obvious in her reaction because she's still calm even though she's rude or getting sassy," she laughed and looked at me slightly. I laughed a little and even covered my mouth and bowed slightly. “Sometimes, she even asks questions when she is upset. She asks if what she's wearing suits her,” she laughed a little again. I laughed softly again. Memories come back to my mind.The memories when I asked her if what I was wearing was appropriate for me. I also asked if I was beautiful and I was so shaken when she said I was so beautiful. I wondered if she was just joking or just kidding me. Maybe she just said that because she didn't want to offend me when she said I wasn't pretty. I also think back to the time I once being sassy to Nanny Yuna but she was amazing because she was also calm every time she answered and talked to me. I didn’t even notice her getting mad at me. She's so kind to me and carrying. I could feel her love as my Nanny.

Even when I insulted her, she was still kind to me. I even remember the first time I ordered her to clean my room because I was really lazy that day to clean. She was obviously surprised because it was the first time I had ordered her to enter my room and clean up. Because I don't let anyone into my room. Let's say my room is too private. Let us say that I don't trust nobody, but she's different. I feel relieved when she is with me. It seems like she eases my heart even if I don't tell her my problems directly.

She's so different and kind.

"My only wish, of course, is for her to fulfill all her dreams in life," she continued and stopped for a moment and looked at me. Draw again the sweet and wide smile on her lips as her gentle face looked directly at me. "We're just always here for you," she smiled after she said that. I nodded at the same time as I smiled. “We have always supported you. We love you so much,” she said last and before she stood up, a smile spread on her lips that almost reached her ear.

I got up and approached her and then hugged her. I whispered, "Thankyou, Nanny, I love you."

We let go of the hug and she walked away. She returned the microphone to Driver Gong and then stood next to Driver Gong.

"I thought you were going to ramp up again," Driver Gong laughed a little who made us and Nanny Yuna laugh again.

The music stopped and was replaced by another song. I waited to see who would give the next message.

"I'm the last," he commented to himself. My gaze wandered to him. I remembered that he was the last one to give me a message. In total, there are 18 people who will give a message because it's my 18th birthday today. "Before I forget, happy happy birthday again, Señorita," he greeted me as I nodded and smiled in response. "For everyone to know, you are the most beautiful girl tonight apart from the beautiful young ladies, your Mommy, and apart from the woman standing next to me."

Nanny Yuna laughed because she knew and I also knew that Driver Gong was referring to her. It's true that Nanny is so beautiful.

“My wish for you is good health. We ask that you fulfill all your dreams and grow up fearing God. We are just here for you,” he gave a message and then smiled when he finished.

I really can't believe this. I never expect so much things just like this before. I never expect so much fun tonight. I thought that it would be boring but it wasn't. I am really enjoying tonight. I am so much blessed to experience this. I am so grateful that I experienced this kind of elegant debut party. I actually just want a simple celebration together with my family and friends. I only want simple celebrate with them.

I can't believe it. It is heart-warming.

Oh, God, thankyou for this.

For the last, it is my turn to give a speech. I stood up and take the microphone that Driver Gong is giving me.

I looked at the audience and I smiled along with a deep sigh.

Inhale and exhale.

“Thank you all for attending. I am so grateful tonight because you are here to join me. Thank you,” I added before lowering the microphone. I looked at them one by one and smiled.

I never dreamed of being here tonight, seeing them here, hearing their messages for me, accepting their costly gifts, and many more. I'm so lucky and blessed. This is how a debutant feels especially when all your loved ones attend. My heart almost softened and almost swelled with the sheer joy I was feeling. That's how it is. This is the feeling that I can't hardly explain.

I returned the microphone and returned to my seat. I think Leighden behaved as if they were all talking. I would have approached in case Driver Gong approached me immediately. He gave me the gift he had for me.

"O-oh— thanks, Driver Gong." He handed a paper bag that is large and yet soft. Is it a teddy bear? "What is this?" I asked while looking at the paper bag. It is really soft as it it has a teddy bear inside of it.

He just smiled at me and then said, "Secret, Señorita." I just laughed before he left. I lowered the paper bag to the side along with the other gifts.

Fricks later approaches Driver Gong. I looked after him and guessed what he was saying and they were talking. I noticed that Driver Gong just nodded before Fricks left.

What were they talking about? Does Fricks have an intermission number for me? Is he going to sing?

Wait, Fricks? The first time I saw him was when Iries said that a man was looking for me. I thought what she said was true but they were just Fricks and the only thing to talk about was my debut. Funny isn't it?

I didn't even notice that the new song was playing. That song is ‘Count on me’

Wait! Count on me? Why count on me? That's a song for friends. Ahh! I get it! Is it Leighden! Will Leighden sing? Will she dance?

I almost frowned at the thought of why that was the song Driver Gong was playing. I was also confused when suddenly they all stood up; Leighden, Samuel, Draek, Iries, and Fricks ... but where is Neil?

I was even more confused when he handed them each a microphone. Will they sing?

What does it make me feel! It was as if butterflies were flying down my throat. My heart is bouncing like a ball. I feel like I'm going crazy.

Later another song played. (Instrumental music first)

That song probably .... ‘Statue?’ Wait! Is that Statue by Lil Eddie?

“When the day is said and done in the middle of the night ...” —Samuel. He's a good singer! They are not just basketball players, they are also singers and not just handsome but also talented.

Leighden also sings? Iries, is she good at singing? Wow! Exit all singers! It's been so amazing tonight.

They have lovely voices and I do really love it! I'm keen of it! I'm drowning in amazement because of their lovely voices, their talents.

As they sang, they walked to the side. Iries and Leighden are on the left side. They continued to sing while Draek and Samuel were in the middle as if they were both lined up. I was even more confused when 18 roses (men) stood holding a single rose.

What's happening? What are they planning? Will they dance for me again?

They walked until they formed one line. Samuel was in the front and Draek was behind him.

As the song ‘Statue’ continued, they slowly walked towards me.

I will hold another 18 roses. They have too many surprises for me.

Samuel first gave a rose and then left immediately. Next to give me a rose was Draek, then Fricks. I just smile as I accept every rose they give me.

How many more are left to give a rose? 15? 10? I couldn't see much because they had a long line and were covered with bodies and hands holding roses.

“Thanks,” I said each time the rose was handed to me. Maybe only 10. Actually, I'm a little hungry.

Maybe only 5 left. Did they plan this? Is this how they settle my debut so they really want me to have a party? Did they plan this?

Oh, my! I can't believe again. This is really surprising! They have so much surprises.

"I'm going under and this time I feel there's no one to save me," I heard a man's voice. I almost peeked at those still in line, wondering who he was. Is he Neil again? That was Neil's style before he left. He might come back for this.

I could no longer look at every man handing me a flower. I am trying to see him but I can't see him.

Who is he? He can't be Neil again, right? He left already and I am sure of it, so, who is the man behind that angelic voice?

Is this another surprise for me? I can't wait to see who he is. I can't wait to see him. Maybe, he's a new guess.
