Chapter 107: Chapter 107

Chapter 107

Confusing dinner

"Where are you now, love?" Neil's question over the phone.

"We're on our way," I answered. I ended our call because we were already walking into the building. They are on the 3rd floor. Now, I will introduce my parents to Neil's family. I want them to get to know my family personally.

I was with three of them: Mommy Yuna, Mommy Sheraine and Daddy. Bria leaves the house.

We took the elevator.

"Neil's parents are definitely kind too," said Mommy Yuna.

"They are kind to you," I replied.

We have reached the third floor. We are here at the La Vida Hotel.

Neil greeted us and he greeted my parents. He's holding my hand as we walked towards his parents.

"Have a seat," said his father. They eat hopefully. They didn't even look away to pay attention to us. Their attention is focused on food.

We sat down again. I looked straight at Neil, trying to ask him mentally about this but he just smiled at me, so I just let him.

Uncle and Auntie looked up at me, so I smiled at them. Uncle turned his gaze to Daddy. Daddy wasn't looking because he was eating.

"So, you're the father of my only son's girlfriend," he uttered that made my Daddy to look at him.

I noticed my Daddy's reaction. He was shocked when he turned his gaze to Uncle.

My forehead furrowed because of his reaction while Uncle seemed to have a strange reaction. He wasn’t shocked or anything.

Even Mommy had the same reaction to Daddy when they raised their eyes to Neil’s parents.

My mind was suddenly confused.

Will they meet? Why are their reactions like that?

I thought they might meet because of business.

Daddy looked at Mommy Sheraine then looked back at Uncle.

“Mr. Avavier, good evening,” he greeted with a smile. There is something weird in his smile.

Uncle smiled at Daddy. I don't say a word even though I'm confused by them. I looked at Neil for a moment.

“Mrs. Adejar ... Sheraine,” Auntie called, so I turned my gaze to her. There is something wrong in her pronunciation to my Mommy's name. Something weird in her tone of voice when she called her.

“It was nice to see you again, Mrs. Selenaya Samson,” said Mommy.

I looked back at Neil when I noticed again their strange reactions. They were smiling but there seemed to be something strange in their smiles.

Neil just smiled at me and held my hand resting on the table.

Suddenly, everyone fell silent. We eat quietly but I can't be complacent. It seems like there is something wrong with our parents. I feel like they are not okay with each other. I feel like they are fake to each other. That's really what I am feeling.

The silence was broken when Auntie Selenaya spoke. “Oh, Mrs. Adejar Samantha Aviona. ”

I looked at Mommy Yuna when she mentioned her name. Mommy just smiled on her while looking at her.

"It's been a long time," she added.

Now I have an idea. They will get to know each other. They know each other. It's good then because they get along since they already know each other.

"You know each other?" I asked because I couldn't stand it anymore. Even before they could answer, I spoke again. "It's good then and at least you already know each other." I felt joy and excitement as I said those and looked at them.

My parents smiled on me and I smiled back on them. I looked back at Auntie and Uncle.

"Hija," Auntir called me.

"Yes, Auntie?"

She first chew the food and then drank the water. She looked back at me.

“Do you know that ...” she paused to look at my parents, then she looked back at me. “... your parents are our business partners before? Are you aware of that?”

I was no longer shocked by what Auntie said but there seemed to be something strange in what she said. It was as if she wanted to convey something else to what she said.

“But... not now because we compete in business."

I was shocked by what she said but they didn't notice it. I drank water.

I watched their reactions. Why is that? I don't understand them. I feel like they're not okay with each other ... Or maybe they're really not okay with each other? Why? Because they compete in business?

I’m trying to guess why they’re like that. I didn't seem to know what was going on. I feel like they have an argument with each other.

Is that why Uncle and Auntie reacted so strange when I said I came from Adejar's family?

Don't they like my family? What about me? Do they want me for their son?

“Do you know that your parents' business is—”

“Mrs. Selenaya, why don't we eat first? ” said Mommy Sheraine, so she couldn't continue what she was going to say.

“Let’s eat first, Mom,” said Neil.

She gasped then smiled afterwards.

What does she mean by saying that my parents business is .... is what?

“Let’s eat, honey,” said his father to Auntie Selenaya. “Eat well. The food is delicious. Eat first,” Uncle added but he was already looking at us.

We resumed eating. We ate quietly but when I turned my gaze to Mommy and Daddy, they were just staring at the food. They don’t even move foods unlike before.

Mommy Sheraine stood up suddenly. “Thanks for the food, Mr. Mrs. Samson,” she said.

“Always welcome,” Auntie Selenaya replied.

Daddy and Mommy Yuna and I also got up.

"Thanks for letting us join with you, Uncle, Uncle."

I smiled at them and they smiled back, but when they turned their gaze to my parents, that smile disappeared.

"Let's go, Shey?" I smiled to Mommy Yuna as she grabbed my arm.

After I turned around, Neil stood up and held my hand, so I stopped.

"I'll take you to make sure—"

"Stay, Neil!" his mother commanded to our surprise. We stopped in shock.

We were about to leave when she suddenly said that, so we were very shocked.

What's going on? Why did Auntie Selenaya suddenly change?

I looked at Neil. He looked at his mother. "Mom?"

"Stay here!" She ordered emphatically. I didn't want them to argue anymore because of me, so I tightened my grip on Neil's hand and smiled at him.

“We can do it. Don't take us anymore. Uncle Gong is waiting for us, so don't be worry about us. ”

“You heard her, Neil. She can handle herself, so stay here. ”

“But, Mom—”

"Stay!"

“It’s okay, Neil. We have to go. Thanks for the dinner.” I said.

I kept on smiling at him though I didn't expect these things.

Why do I feel like Auntie is pushing Neil away from me? I can no longer understand them. They suddenly changed when they met my parents.

Why? Is it because they are no longer business partners? Is it because they are fighting now?

"Be careful, okay?"

I nodded. I slowly let go of his hand.

We have left.

I wanted to ask but I couldn't. They also didn't say a word until we got home.

We went straight to the living room. None of us spoke.

I kept my eyes on Mommy Yuna to ask her mentally. I know she understands me but she just smiles at me.

Daddy are not even smiling.

Daddy turned on the television but he's not watching.

I just feel for them whether they have something to say or not.

Up to his moment, I am still confused by what happened earlier.

I was about to speak when Daddy suddenly turned off the TV which caused me to look at him.

He didn’t look at me even when he called me ‘Shey’.

I didn't say anything because I was waiting for what he would say.

"Please do me a favor?" He looked up at me. I still haven't spoken. I have no idea what favor do he want. "Can you stay away from Neil?"

I almost widened my eyes because of what he said. I didn't expect him to say that.

"What?"

Was what I heard right or was I just thinking too much?

No! I heard what he said. I'm not deaf. That’s really exactly what Daddy said.

Why? What is the reason? Why does he want me to avoid Neil?

I looked at them one by one then looked back at Daddy.

"Why?" I asked and my voice almost crack. “Why do you want me to stay away from Neil? Neil is my boyfriend, Dad. ”

“You heard what his mother said, Shey. They are the reason why our company is already losing money in the States. Our company is falling apart and they want to buy our company. Just stay away as I tell you! ”

I just blushed at what he said. I have no knowledge of our company and whatever their problem is with each other. If they’re not okay, we’re out of there.

"I'm not going away, Dad," I said elegantly to hide my feelings.

"Do as I say!"

"Don't you want me to be happy?" I asked before I stood up.

“I want, Shey, but not through this way. Just stay away from him. ”

Tsk.

"I won't."

"You have to follow me!"

I turned my gaze to him and looked at them one by one again.

I didn't say a word and just smiled bitterly as I shook my head.

I just ran away. I could still hear them calling me but I didn't look at them.

I will never do what he wants.

Doesn’t he want me to be happy?
