Chapter 46: Chapter 46
They got to the housewarming party and Triffany was not surprised to see it filled with classy and rich people.
Triffany became less embarrassed because her outfit blends with theirs and she look more like them so all eyes will not be on her.
Carlos offered his hand when they got to the entrance and she reluctantly took it, the thought of him being a gentleman few hours ago just because of his grandfather and people that will watch them, still piss her off.
“Carlos Zack.” Director Mark, their host shakes his hand. “Welcome.” He greeted him and his eyes fell on Triffany. “This must be your wife.”
“Yes she is.” Carlos smiled as he look at Triffany, she already know he was wearing this smile since he was in the public.
“Good evening sir.” She greeted Director Mark, with a warm smile spread across her lips.
“Good evening to you too. You’re one hell of a pretty lady.” He peek her cheek gently as a form of greeting.
“Thanks for the complement.”
“Thanks for honoring my invitation, I was just talking to your grandfather not quite long.” Mark told Carlos.
“He’s here already.”
“Yes.” Director Mark told them. Triffany and Carlos head inside while director kept welcoming his guest.
Carlos who still link arms with Triffany leans close to whisper in her ear. “Try to blend in.”
Triffany scoffed, was he taking her as a lowlife that have not attended a party before. “Sorry to break it down to him, she can also act rich if she wants to. “
Carlos smiled and they walked over to Ethan Zack. “Chairman.” Carlos called out and Ethan turned around.
“Carlos Zack.” He smiled. “You are free to call me Grandpa here.” His eyes fell on Triffany. “Look who we have here.”
“Sir.” Triffany said gently as she bow.
Ethan smiled warmly. “That sounds horrible.” Triffany looked up immediately, have she said something wrong. Oh no! She said in her head.
“I’m sorry. I don’t really know how to, or what to call you. That’s the best I could come up with.” Carlos watched how tense she is and sniggers. “I should’ve called you Chairman.” She lowered her gaze
Ethan Zack was amused as he looked at Carlos. “Carlos, she’s a cute wife.” Triffany looked up and saw them smiling.
Ethan held her two hands. “You should call me grandpa, just as Carlos and Gabby do call me. We’re family now.” He peeks her cheek to her surprise and she smiled.
She was so anxious just now, but Carlos grandfather wasn’t as bad as it looks, the fact was he was kind and friendly and this should be the third time she had ever spoken to him.
She wish Carlos took half of his kindness and Friendliness, but Carlos was the direct opposite. She was happy she was considered family by Carlos family, even if Carlos don’t like her as a wife or anything.
“Grandpa, have a way of making people nervous.” Carlos said with an amusing smile on his lips, he had really enjoyed her reaction just now.
“I should get use to it then.” Triffany smile, even if she want to step on Carlos for not helping her out, she had seen him sniggering when she was talking to Grandpa Ethan just now.
Ethan looked at Carlos and pretends to be angry. “Carlos you should speak good off your grandpa.” They all laughed. “Triffany you should come around one day, and bring this stubborn grandson of mine with you when you come, his grandma misses him.”
“Grandpa, I’m not stubborn for a start, and I’m surely going to come one day to see her.” Carlos lifts the corner of his lips.
“Okay then.” Ethan look at Triffany still with the warm smile plastered on his lips. “You look pretty in that dress.”
Triffany tuck the loose strand of her hair behind her ear. “Thank you sir…I mean Grandpa.” Damn she will have to get use to calling him grandpa. Luckily Ethan did not hold an offense and just smile.
“Triffany can I steal Carlos from you for a while? We have to discuss something with some directors.” Ethan asked her.
Damn yes! She screamed in her head, who wouldn’t want to be away from this arrogant man who will only nag her all night. She smile at Ethan. “You’re free. I will just blend in.”
“Okay.” Carlos looked at Triffany once more before following Ethan. Triffany took a glass of wine and head over to a table stand as a few people came over to greet her and they discuss with smiles on their lips.
Triffany smile to herself. “See, I can actually act rich.” She said in her mind.
“Carlos this is the director on charge of the regional site. You should be familiar with him as you both would likely become partners in future.” Ethan introduced him to Director Vincent. “Meet my grandson.”
They both shook their hands. “He is just as good as you Ethan.” Vincent said honestly. “I’m Vincent by name.’
“Nice to meet you in person, Vincent.” Carlos said with his deep voice.
“My flight got postponed cause of a shareholder meeting at Canada, that was why I couldn’t make it to the board meeting.”
“I heard, I’m glad you finally made it. We can have a few one in one conversation before the next board meeting then.” Carlos said with a smile he always had when he was talking to an important businessman.
“Sure. I will want to know you more in person too.”
Ethan chuckled. ‘I’m glad you’re both getting along already.” They turned to him with smile.
“Chairman.” Director mark walked over to them. “We have called for It to begin already.”
“Okay.” They fill each other in on everything. Carlos glance at Triffany from time to time, he saw her laughing and chatting with different men and his eyes darkened with jealousy.
Ethan Zack saw Carlos was stealing glances at Tiffany with a frown of jealousy, he smiled when he knew it must be because she was smiling and talking to men at the party.
He leans close to his son. "You want to be with her now?" He asked as Carlos looked at him.
"Huh!" He shook his head. "We are talking business right now." He pretends to be so focused.
"Business?" Ethan asked and Carlos turned but saw he was only standing with his grandfather and that the rest of the directors are gone to continue socializing.
Ethan smiled. "Your mind haven't been here all these while. You should go save her. She's trying too hard to blend in." They both look at Danielle who was mostly sipping her wine.
"That's not it grandpa." He turned to Ethan. "She can take care of herself. I rather go greet the others."
Ethan studied his grandson for a while. "Suit yourself then. You're excused." Ethan was not always in control of Carlos life, the only time he poked his nose in his business was the marriage between him and Triffany.
Carlos left his grandfather and walked over to his friends, who were wearing a well tailored suit and dressed to slay. "Hey guys."
"Carlos." Garrett called out.as the rest turned to him. They exchanged pleasantries and handshakes.
"You're looking good." Eric complimented him, seeing how perfect what he wore was.
"Mourh teaser." Carlos smile, knowing that he had always look this nice.
"Did you come with Gabby or Kelsey?" Blake asked him, looking around, expecting to see one of them with him.
Carlos frowns at the mention of Kelsey, in the past he had alw6come with Kelsey and they were always admired as couples, but after all what he discovered, it still made him angry.
"I came with my wife." He sipped his wine as his three friends looked at him with a surprise expression.
He saw their facial expression and furrowed his brow. "What's wrong, why do you all have that expression on.your face?"
"If am not mistaken, I.heard wife." Garrett looked at him, with a big eye.
"And what's wrong with that?" Carlos raised the corner of his lips.
"You really said the word 'wife' just now." Eric looked at him more closely, to them.they had heard wrong.
"Yes I did." Carlos smile, when he understand why thay were all like this.
"Really? Thought you hate it when we call her that." Blake was also surprise. In the past, Carlos always hate it when they call Triffany his wife, he will always get angry and walk away, but today he had singlehandedly said it himself.
"Well I changed." Carlos sip his wine again.
"You now love her?" Eric asked curiously and Carlos looked away.
"What about Kelsey?" Garrett asked and saw Carlos frown.
"Why the frown?" Blake asked. "You're act8 weird Carlos, or am I the only one who noticed this? Whenever we mention Kelsey her frowns and look angry."
This was what happens anytime they mention Triffany, but now he was doing it when they mention Kelsey.
"I notice it too, but I saw him smile when he said his wife. Seems like he have been spelled." Eric laughs.
Garrett noticed this wasn't a joke, he was a curious person and want to know the truth. "Carlos what's wrong with you and Kelsey?"
Carlos rubs his forehead gently, he saw his friends were curious and he had to tell them. "It's a long story, but to cut it short. Kelsey played with my feelings, she doesn't love me but loves someone else. She wants to ruin my marriage before telling me." He took a gulp of his wine and put down the glass.
"I don't understand." Eric was still puzzled.
"My grandfather must have known all these and made me get married to someone else. I was blinded by my love for Kelsey, but I have found out already." Carlos took another glass of wine from a staff that passed with a tray of wine.
"You must have felt sick." Garrett who understands him, said. Anytime bad things go wrong, Carlos always falls sick, but never shows it.
"Well, I passed through that." He sip his wine again. "I'm fine now, so please don't bring Kelsey's name up anymore. I can't stand it." He said seriously this time.
"Okay." They all agreed.
"Have you told your wife about this?" Blake asked, Triffany ought to know, she shouted be the first to know about it, it could give them a chance to have feelings for each other.
"Haven't got the chance to." He exhaled softly.
"You should tell her, so that she won't misunderstand you and Kelsey again. I'm sure you love your wife." Blake said seriously this time.
"What!" Carlos almost choke in.his drink.
"It is all in your smile." Blake pointed as they all chuckled.
"Where is she?" Garrett looked around, trying to spot her in the mist of the guest.
"Who?" Carlos followed his gaze.
"Your wife, you said you came here with her."
"She's over there." Carlos said softly as they traced his gaze and saw Triffany drinking and chatting with some men. It seems his friends stop breathing for a while.
"Wow! Take a look at that beauty." Garrett said softly, as he stare at her. Carlos turned to his friend with a frown on his face.
"I was wondering who that pretty lady was." Eric admitted they had seen her, but had not recognised her as Triffany, since she looked so different.
"She's so surrounded and her smile is dazzling." Blake smile, looking dreamy.
"I was about to approach her thinking I have found my other half, not knowing she was taking." Eric blinks.
Carlos scoffed as he look at the faces of his friends. "Yes she's taken, so snap out of your daydreams you all." He raidse6his voice and they all looked at him.
"She's my wife and I won't want you all looking at her with that catchy eyes of yours." He said seriously with a knitted brow.
"Heh...someone is getting jealous." Blake burt out as Carlos roiled his eyes.
Eric looked at Triffany who was still smiling over there. "You shouldn't worry about us. Take a look at those young men, they are the ones with the catchy eyes."
Carlos looked at Triffany and he furrowed his brow, can't they see she is wearing a ring, don't they know she's married. Maybe he should buy her a bigger ring that would be more visible.
"You better go save your wife." Garrett told him, smiling. It is obvious that Carlos was jealous right here and now.
"I think I better go." He put down his glass and walked over to Triffany's side. He put his hand around her waist and held her other hand up, showing them the ring she was wearing on her finger intentionally.
They understand the message he was passing and all left without another word. Triffany turned to him with a frown on her face. "What's wrong with you?"
Carlos leans close to her eyes, in other not to let the others hear what he was saying. "You were flirting with those men, weren't you?"
Triffany rolled her eyes. "I.was blending in. You just came by and spoil the fun." She sipped her wine. "When will you stop acting like a typical husband." She said softly.
"What do you think people will say about me if my wife is chatting and smiling with other men." He looked around. "You don't know who might be watching."
Triffany scoffed. "You care so much of your status. You always have ways of spoiling my fun." She turned around and placed her empty glass on the table.
The background music changed into a classic on, as different couples step to.the centre to waltz.
Carlos looked at Tri6with a smile on his lips. "Can I have this dance?" He stretched out his hands.
Triffany looked at him and reluctantly took his hands. They walked over to the centre. "I'm a terrible dancer." She said honestly.
Carlos grins. "I know." Triffany frown, but he doesn't mind, he held her waist, as they both waltz, almost he knew was he was dancing with his beautiful wife and wouldn't feel that feeling of Jealousy anymore.
