Chapter 30: Chapter 30

Carlos woke up the next morning , he stretched his hands and turned around to look at the couch but there was no one there, he sat up immediately, he looked around the room but didn’t see her.

He got up and went to check the bathroom, but no sign of Triffany. He brushed his teeth and took his bath. He got dressed into a well-tailored navy blue suit and walked downstairs for breakfast, he looked around and still didn’t find her.

“Where the heck did she go, it would be nice if I could make her frown a bit.” He muttered to himself as he sat down to eat the breakfast passed by the maids.

"Morning brother.” Gabby came over to the dinning and pecked her brothers cheek before joining him for breakfast.

“Morning, sleepy head.”

Gabby looked up at him. “I was awake before you.” She said simply and continue eating.

Carlos looked at her, he was surprise that she haven’t asked about Triffany. He cleared his throat. “I don’t see your new friend around.” He tried to sound nonchalantly.

“New friend?” Gabby looked up at him. “Who?” She blinked. “You mean Triffany?” Carlos sipped his coffee slowly. “She must have head out for her lessons.” Gabby sipped her tea.

Carlos scoffed. “What lessons can that crazy lady do?”

Gabby knitted her brow as she glared at her brother. “The one you refused to help her with, she ran into her long time friend yesterday and he is willing to help her out. She is probably at his place right now.”

Carlos halt and put his spoon down. “I did not tell you to tell me the details about her, like who cares where she goes or who she meet.” Carlos looked at his wrist watch. “I better prepare for work.” He walked out of the restaurant to his room upstairs.

Gabby looked over to the empty stairs that Carlos had gone through. “Why is he so offended.” She sighed and continue her breakfast.

“Who cares?” Carlos muttered once he entered his room. He looked at the couch Triffany normally sleep on. “That must be why she was smiling in her sleep and say something about tomorrow.” He scoffed as he put his hand into his pocket. “She’s just doing things that won’t work out.” He exhaled softly.

Triffany arrived at Tommy’s apartment, he opened the door and let her in, with a lot of smiles on his lips. ‘”Welcome to my home.” He led her inside.

Triffany looked around, the apartment was a total match with Tommy’s personality. “It’s beautiful.” Tommy lead her to the sitting room and offered her a seat. “Am I too early?”

“No, it’s okay, who wouldn’t want to see this beautiful face each morning.” Triffany blushed and they both smile.

But soon she stopped smiling. “I know someone who won’t be happy to see this face.” She muttered, putting down her bag.

“Then that person must be crazy.”

“Yeah, totally.” They both chuckled.

“So, did you have breakfast before coming?” Tommy asked moving over to the kitchen.

“No, someone told me that publishers don’t eat breakfast.”

Tommy laughed at what she had just said and Triffany looked up at him. “Who said that? And you believed him?”

“I knew it.” Triffany frowned, she had always want to believe one of Carlos methods but it was all useless and to make a joke out of her and eat the food alone. “A total Jerk!” She grit her teeth.

Tommy had no idea what she was talking about. “Luckily, I prepared too much and can’t finish it alone, come and join me.”

He lead her to the dinning. “I shouldn’t eat your meal, you’re helping me and here I am without paying you any money, yet you want to feed me.”

Tommy looked down at her. “I’m your friend for crying out loud, sit please.” He pulled out a chair for her, she saw how serious he was and then sat down. “Help yourself.” He pointed at the breakfast on the table.

He sat across the table. “It’s been long I ate with someone, so I’m so glad you have to join me today.” He passed her some fried fish.

Triffany was surprise to hear him say that. “Where are your parents?”

Tommy smiled gently. “They are In the states, I had been transferred over to this place for business. I am so happy I ran into you.” He was staring at her again.

Triffany tucked a loose strain of her hair behind her ear and smile. “Me too.”

“But then, at the university, you were…you know?”

“Oh, my dress and messed up hair.” Triffany smiled as she already know what he was talking about, she laughed thinking about how less she gives about her dressing style. “it’s been four years now and you know…” She wanted to say something but stopped. Tommy looked at her. “I bet people find my outfits funny then.”

“Totally!” Tommy didn’t hesitate to say it as he chuckled just thinking back at that time. He lift his eyes to see Triffany wasn’t laughing. “I’m sorry, that came out wrong.”

Triffany smiled. “I know that already.’

Tommy exhaled softly, he thought he had annoyed her. “Okay, eat up let’s start.”

Carlos sat down at the office, Philip knocked and came in with some file. “Sir, here is the copy of the new sales cost.” He drop it on the desk

Carlos went through it. “Okay, have Maria’s team check this out, and also, send Eric to the set manager.” He hands him the file.

“Okay sir.” Philip left the office.

Carlos called Felicity in. “Sir, here is the minutes of today’s meeting.”

“Okay.” Carlos went through it. “You may leave now.”

“Sir.” Carlos looked at her. “Director Stephen want to see you tomorrow.” Carlos remembered Triffany say th3e same thing last time, he closed his eyes gently. “Sir should I set the appointment?”

“Yes.”

“Okay sir.” Felicity left the office.

Carlos scoffed. “What is wrong with me today.” He got up from his chair and stood by the window. “She’s probably at his place.” He frowned. “Is he a dangerous person?”

He runs his hand through his hair and exhaled sharply. “Why am I even concerned? she might get me into trouble if something happens to her and if something happen to her the media might find out it will affect me and if it does, it will affect the company and I can’t let happen.” He muttered to himself.

He exhaled softly. “Carlos it’s none of your business.” He strolled back to his chair, he sat down and just then he heard a knock on the door. “Come in.”

Felicity stepped in. “Sir, Mr Garrett is here to see you.”

“Let him in.” Carlos ordered.

Felicity left the office and few minutes later Garrett entered. They exchanged pleasantries and sat down. “Why the look on your face?” Garret asked, noticing Carlos brow was a little arched.

“Someone got me offended.” He said simply. Felicity came in with two cup of hot coffee and left the office.

“Who did?” Garret watched Carlos sip his tea softly. “I’m quite sure it’s not Kelsey or any of the workers.” He lifts his coffee to his lips.

“Just someone.”

“And you can’t tell me who that someone is?”

“That lady…” Carlos exhaled sharply as he stopped what he was about to say.

“Your wife?” Garret smiled as he looked at Carlos face.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” Carlos exhaled softly.

Garret relaxed on the chair. “Well, you have always been offended since you married her, I’m sure that’s why.”

Carlos runs his hand through his hair. “I’m scared that she might get me and my company into trouble, like that is what I’m trying to avoid.”

Garret have not heard Carlos say he was scared before, this was the first time. “So what is it this time?”

“She got herself a job.” He said softly.

“That’s a good thing.” Garret smiled.

Carlos looked at him and he stopped smiling. “Listen to the end please.” Garrett gave him his full focus. “Okay, she failed the interview since it’s not her thing but was given a second chance to re-do the interview and she want to learn more about it.”

“She was only given five day before the interview , how can she learn in those five days, I’m letting her know she should stop and give up on it.” He finished.

Garret looked at his friend. “You should encourage her and also teach her.”

“It’s a waste of time.” Garrett heaved a sigh. “Hear me out first. No need for her to do that, but…” he exhaled softly, he swallowed hard. “She found a friend, like she ran into a friend who want to teach her more about it and now she is at his place.’

Carlos rubs his face and sip his coffee slowly again, he lift his eyes and saw Garret still looking at him. “I woke up this morning and she was not at home, I’m not sure she even ate breakfast, or if she took her bath or brushed her hair and teeth.”

Carlos runs his hands through his hair, just the thought of her being messy annoys him. “But, she is at another man’s house, she was even smiling in her sleep lat night, I’m sure she was seeing him, like who the heck is he to make her leave home early.”

Garrett smiled. “Are you jealous now?”

Carlos gave him a cold glare and scoffed. “Jealous? No, Never! I don’t care, all I care about is me, she might embarrass me. If he finds out that messy girl is married to me, don’t you think news will spread everywhere huh! And she doesn’t have a high IQ to think of that.” He frowned.

Garrett shakes his head. “You are absolutely jealous.”

“I’m not.” Carlos got up from his chair. “I don’t care where she goes or how she live her life, I don’t want mine to be ruined by her.” He turned t see Garrett laughing. “It’s not funny.”

“If you’re so tensed, then call her.”

“Why should i? I don’t care, Garrett , I don’t. “ he sat down on the chair again.

Felicity knocked on the door and step in. “Sir.”

“Yes.”

“The representative of the research company is here.”

“Let her in.”

“Okay sir.” Felicity left the office.

Triffany finished for the day with Tommy, h drove her to the bus stop. “Why don’t I take you home at once, I’m not busy.” Tommy turned to her before she steps out.

“I have somewhere else to go before going home, thanks for the ride and tutoring.” Triffany lied, she ;was actually getting use to it now.

Tommy flashed her a smile. “It was like ABC, you are a fast learner.”

“Thanks, I will do better tomorrow.”

“Take your time, don’t stress yourself okay, and take a good night sleep.” They waved each other goodbye, he watched Triffany enter the bus as the bus drove off.

Tommy smiled. “she’s still the same as always.” He touched his hair softly. “I’m glad I met her again, this time I won’t let her out of my sight.” He smiled and drove off.

Carlos arrives home and went upstairs to his room, he looked at the couch and found Triffany asleep, he knitted his brow as he put down his bag, took off his suit and tie.

He sat down on the sofa and stare at her face. “She’s asleep again.” He looked at his wrist watch. “Just seven-thirty.” He scoffed as he looked at her. “Did she have a lot of fun today at his place?”

He frowned, running his hands through his hair. “How can she sleep so peacefully.” He muttered to himself.

He looked at the bedside light and smiled as an idea got into his head. He got up from the chair and pushed it down, it shattered and the loud sound made Triffany opened her eyes.

She sat up and turned to Carlos who had his hands in his pocket and the broken light bulb on the floor. “What is that noise for?”

“Can’t you see the light bulb fell down.” Carlos pointed at it on the floor.

Triffany bite her lower lips in anger. “Who pushed it down?”

“It fell.” Carlos looked at her with his lips curled up.

Triffany exhaled softly. “Then clean it up, I’m sleepy.” She turned to continue her sleep.

“Hey!” Carlos called out and she sat up again.

“What!” She raised her face to stare at him in anger.

He put his hands back in his pocket. “Come and clean it up.” He smirked.

Triffany scoffed. “I did not push it down.”

“I didn’t push it down too.” Carlos lied.

Triffany was already tired of going back and forth with this man, she should be asleep now but this man was bothering her. “You’re the man, you should clean it out.”

Carlos was actually loving this back and forth talks, he enjoy seeing the angry reaction on her face. “It fell because you’re in this room.” Triffany glared at him. “So, you should clean it up.”

She knew arguing with this man was useless because she always lose at the end. She got up from the bed and bent down to clean it but the glass slice through her hand. “Ouch!” she cries out.

Her blood spills as Carlos bent down close to her. “Hey must you be clumsy?” He grabbed her hands to take the piece of glass out.

“Let go of my hand it’s your fault.” She struggled to free herself from his hold.

Carlo griped her hands and took off the glass even with her protest. He made her stand up, still holding her hand. “Let’s treat that first before it scars.”

He lead her out of the room, they went downstairs as her brought the first aid kit, he did treatment on it and band it. “You should be more careful.”

Triffany glared at him. “Don’t act as if you are not happy I got a cut.”

“I’m not.” Carlos said sincerely and Triffany looked up at hi serious face, it was his intention to wake her up but not his intention to make her injure herself.

Triffany removed her hands from his. “I’m okay now.” She said softly and look away from his face.

Carlos closed the first aid kit box. “I’m hungry.” He looked at Trifany.

“Make yourself a meal.” Triffany looked down at her injured hand.

“I’m tired.” He curled his lips up.

Triffany runs her hands through her hair. “I’m tired too and I got an injury. “ she lift up her hands for him to see.

Carlos scoffed at her excuse. “What did you do that made you tired?” He asked with a frowned, thinking back at what she must have done at that man’s place.

“I have been busy.” She furrowed her brow.

“Not as if you have a job.” Carlos sighed.

Triffany bite down her lips, sure enough he was looking down at her. “You’re so annoying.” She looked around the house. “I wonder where Gabby is?’ she was talking out loud to herself now.

Carlos made a signal with his hands as a maid came out with a tray of chicken and sauce, another maid follow behind with a bottle of fine wine and glass, they put it on the table and left as Triffany eyes widens to see the chicken.

“You should head upstairs and continue your sleep.” Carlos told her as he turned to start eat.

“I’m not feeling sleepy.” Triffany muttered, her eyes still on the large chicken on the tray.

Carlos looked at her. “You told me you are tired.” He raised his brow to look at her.

Triffany swallowed hard, her eyes still on the chicken. “Yes I know.”

Carlos traced her eyes and smiled to see her looking down at the chicken. “You want chicken?”

Triffany nods and looked up at him with a smile. “You can’t finish it.”

Carlos smiled and looked at her. “I can.”

Triffany frowned. “You can’t, you might have a running stomach tomorrow.” She turned back to look at the chicken.

“I won’t.”

Triffany looked at him and puts on her a puppy face as she blinks. “Please it’s too charming and delicious, can I have some?” She pleaded.

Carlos laughed as he look at her puppy face. “Sure you can, since you said please.”

Triffany immediately took a large lap of the fried chicken as she had a bite. “Yummy.”

Carlos chuckled. “Unbelievable, eat slowly.” He shake his head.

Triffany looked at him with food stuff in her mouth. “I’m fine.” She took a sip of wine.

“Take it easy.” He smiled to see her devouring the chicken. He saw her stuff more chicken in her mouth as he scoffed. “You could pull all that in your mouth.”

“Who cares.’ Triffany ignored him and continue eating, while Carlos ate his chicken slowly, watching her with smiles on his face.

They finished the chicken and beer and were filled up as they retired to their room exhausted. Triffany lay on her couch and Carlos on the bed, he sat up and looked at Triffany who was about to sleep.

“Hey, tomorrow by seven in the morning.” He called out.

“What’s going on at that time?” she asked, facing him to see his face.

“Your lessons, I will be tutoring you.” He told her pointing at himself with smiles on his face.

Triffany looked at his proud face and scoffed. “I’ve found someone who’d train me.’

Carlos tilt his head to the side and fold his arms. “No better teacher than me.”

Triffany scoffed. “He’s also a good publisher and you are a quack, he said editors and publishers do eat breakfast but you said otherwise.”

“I was joking then.” Carlos lifts his head up.

“Thanks, but I’m no longer going to let you teach me, like you said, I have found my way myself.” She lay down on her couch and pull the blanket over her shoulder. “Turn off the light if you want to sleep.” She closed her eyes.

Carlos runs his hands through his head. “Who cares who she let tutor her.” He lay on his bed and pulled the quilt over his shoulder with a frown, he looked at Triffany who laid on the couch with her bak turned at him.

“I don’t care, who even wants to teach her?” He turned off the light and closed his eyes, tossing around the bed. “I don’t care.”
