Chapter 20: Chapter 20
After having so much fun with Kelsey, they sat down in a restaurant having dinner. “So how was your honeymoon trip?” Kelsey asked.
“Terrible,” Carlos said in one word.
Kelsey smiled, she sipped her wine. “Why did you say that?”
“You should know the reason. Forced on a trip I care less about,” Carlos said softly.
“That’s one thing with rich people.”
“You know, I would spend two months on a trip with you far away, If I was married to you.” Carlos fixed his eyes on her.
“I know but it’s not possible,” Kelsey mutters.
“It can be possible,” Carlos said seriously.
Kelsey looks up at his serious face. “I don’t understand.”
Carlos gave her a warm smile and held her hands from across the table. “Soon you will understand.”
Kelsey decided to drop the topic. “Tell me about your trip.” She was curious and wanted to know the details of what he did with Triffany.
‘There’s nothing to tell you, it was very boring.” Carlos lifts his wine to his lips and took a large gulp, he felt so tired from everything that had to happen lately.
“Did to make love to her?” Kelsey asked softly, this was what she have been curious to know.
“Jazz, that will be gross,” Carlos said irritated.
“Why? She is your wife Carlos.” Kelsey said, she just can’t believe him.
Carlos looked at her seriously. “Kelsey I can’t kiss any lady that’s not you.” Kelsey looked at his eyes, she notices he was not lying, she smiled. “Kelsey I missed you.” Carlos held her hands.
“But you couldn’t call me.” Kelsey pout.
“I was waiting for the right opportunity, Kelsey you are more important to me than anyone else.” Carlos looks into her eyes with love.
“Your family should come first,” Kelsey told him and they both smile. Kelsey lean closer and kissed his lips.
Carlos looks at her. “There’s a place I want to take you to, but you should eat first.” Carlos kissed her hand.
“Am curious, where?”
“It’s a secret.” He sips his wine.
“Let’s go already, am done with my meal.” Kelsey sips the remaining wine on her glass.
Carlos chuckled. “You’re so impatient.”
“You know already.” Kelsey picked her purse up.
“That’s why I love you. You know childhood times.” Carlos smiled.
Kelsey rolled her eyes. “Please don’t bring that up.” They both laugh. “Let’s go already, I love your surprises.”
“I am sure you do.” Carlos paid for the meal and they left the restaurant.
…
Carlos friends came over to his mansion and were warmly welcome by Gabby which was a surprise to them all. “Welcome handsomes, please come have a seat.” She peeked at them and they sat down.
“Are you on drug today?” Garratt asked her.
“No, why did you say that?” Gabby gave them a cute smile and sit in a chair next to them.
“Nothing,” Garrett said, he couldn’t bring himself to say what he wanted to.
Eric noticed it and decided to say it in his stead. “You are strange today.”
“And it’s scary,” Blake added.
“Cut the bullshit!” Gabby’s voice made them seal their lips. “What should I offer you?” She
“Nothing.” Garrett shakes his head.
“I don’t need anything either,” Blake said.
“Me too. We just came to see Carlos.” Eric stutter.
Gabby looked at them with a frown. “This is terrible.” She scoff.
“Sorry princess, we would take wine,” Garrett spoke for the rest of the team.
“Wine that sounds good.” Blake smiled.
“That is going to go well with my system.” Eric looks at her.
Gabby smile.”Okay>” She claps her hand and a maid comes out.
“Miss Gabby.” The maid said lowering her gaze.
“Bring me the finest wine for my guest,” Gabby said gently, she was always kind to her maids.
”Okay miss.” The maid left.
“Gabby,” Garrett called out.
“Yes, Garrett.” Gabby faced her.
“Do you have a hidden camera here?” Garrett asked.
“why?” She looks at him surprised by his question.
“You are acting too nice, what’s the occasion?” Garrett asked.
“I am frightened,” Eric added.
Gabby gave them a warm smile. “Don’t be, I am in a good mood today.” She winks them.
“What is the reason?” Blake asked.
“Someone was honestly happy to see my gold medal and heard my stories, unlike some people I do tell about it.” Gabby looked at them all.
“Who would be silly enough to be happy about your childish medal,” Eric mumbled. They have heard that story countless times already.
“What did you just say?” Gabby arched her brow.
“I was only talking to my mind.” Eric pointed at his head.
Gabby rolled her eyes. “You can’t spoil my good mood.”
“Don’t go about saying the same story repeatedly,” Garrett advised her. She was fond of doing it, that was why they were bored of it. The maid served the wine with four glasses.
Gabby arched her brow. “You’re all so annoying, you can drink your wine and wait peacefully for my brother.” She told them and turned to leave.
“Where is Carlos?” Garret asked her.
“You should always call him before coming over, don’t ask me!” She shouted and walked away.
Eric breathes a sigh of relief. “Gosh! She acts like a chameleon, always changing switching character.”
“You are lucky she didn’t pull your hair,” Blake told him.
“I wonder where Carlos went to, he is not picking his calls.” Garrett tried calling him again.
“it only happens whenever he is with Kelsey .” Eric sips his wine. “She’s very important to him.”
“She was always there for him when his parent died, they are inseparable,” Blake said softly. Triffany who was walked into the house heard their conversation. “That lady.” They all turned to see her.
“Is she not the one,” Eric said standing up. “Mrs Triffany, right?” He asked with his hands stretched out or a handshake.
“Triffany.” She shakes his hand.
“The pretty bride,” Blake said and she turned her eyes to look at him.
They all introduced themselves to her, this was the first day they had talked to her this way, last time she came here they were surprised and barely recognized her from the news, but now she looked transformed.
“Sorry about last time, I didn’t know your name then.” Garrett apologized.
“It’s okay.” Triffany smiled at him.
“We are good now right?” He asked.
Triffany nods. Eric touched his hair. “Wow! She’s so beautiful.” Eric mumbles.
“We are Carlos friends,” Blake told her, all these while he had been staring at her.
“I am aware, he’s not here now, I better head upstairs, take your time and enjoy your drinks while you wait for him.” She told them before leaving.
“Gosh! She looks pretty now.” Eric blurts out.
“Get a hold of yourself, Eric. I know you would have stolen her from Carlos on their wedding day.” Blake said, looking at Eric.
Eric sips his drink slowly. “Yes. Carlos doesn’t know he is blessed, Garrett am I wrong?”
“She’s gorgeous.” He licks his lower lips.
Blake looks at him and shakes his head. “Hey evil, you should also take your eyes off her.”
Garrett smiled. “I don’t have a girlfriend, you know.”
“Jezz! Not you too, Garrett.” Blake frowned.
Garrett rolled his eyes. “You should admire good things, Blake.”
Blake smiled. “I know she’s pretty.” He told them and they all chuckled and continue their conversation.
Triffany lay on the couch in the room she now shares with Carlos, such a husband, she was going through her phone to keep her mind from thinking of Carlos who was out there with his lover.
Why will a man act this way, even if he doesn't love her, he should try to control himself. She exhaled softly, she knows that this marriage was one without love.
Her phone rings and she smiled broadly, bringing the phone to her ear. "Hello, Allison."
"Triffany." Allison was overjoyed on the other side of the line, it has been few days since they last spoke, and she heard that Triffany was back, well it seems everyone knows.
"How are you?" Allison asked cheerfully.
"Am good Allison."
"How was your trip and your husband?"
Triffany scoffed at this question, her husband was busy with another woman and her trip was very boring, well this was the world she will live in now.
"Can I come over, or, are you having a lovey-dovey moment with the rich heir?" Allison giggle.
"Wake up Allison, that's the last thing I would do." Triffany arched her brow, lovey-dovey her ass.
"Hey don't say that." Allison scolds her.
Triffany rolled her eyes, this was what she had decided in her heart already. "Are you at home?" She asked.
"Yes."
"I'm coming over, this mansion is boring and I miss you." Triffany got up from her chair to get dressed, anything that can keep her thoughts away from Carlos.
"Nick is with me," Allison added.
Triffany rolled her eyes. Nick her annoying cousin. "Forget him. I'm coming over."
"Okay, I'm waiting." Allison ended the call and walked over to Nick. "Hey Nick, Triffany is back and she's coming over."
"Okay," Nick said nonchalantly with his eyes still on the game he was playing.
"Can't you act excited for once?" Allison frowned at his attitude.
Nick scoffed. "Triffany is not a star or celebrity, why should I be excited?" He asked.
"Jeez!" Allison folds her arm and stares at her brother. "You both act like you are twins born on the same day." She frowned at how Triffany and Nick care less about themselves.
Nick smiled and turned to the frowning Allison. "Allison, you should try to play some games, maybe it will lighten your mood."
Allison gave him a hard glare. "Carry on alone." She left the room in anger, her brother was a pain in the ass.
...
Triffany arrived at Nick's apartment, she entered the house since she knows the password, Allison saw her and gave her a tight hug.
"Wow, Triffany you're not looking bad." Allison looked at Triffany who was wearing a yellow off-shoulder dress that goes perfectly with her skin, her hair was neatly trimmed and was poured down around her shoulder and back.
"I have always been good looking." Triffany smiled, she was always proud of her facial beauty.
"Please come in." Allison ushered her in.
Triffany looked at Nick who was still playing his video game, she frowned, can this man ever grow to pass this. "Nick when will you mature?" She asked with an arched brow.
Nick turned his attention to her, he smiled broadly as he scanned her from head to toe. "Look at you."
Nick hugged her with smiles. "How long have you been married and now you're acting like my elder sister. Just a reminder it's been a week okay." He pulled away.
Triffany frowned. "You're so annoying, as always." She sits on the sofa.
Nick raised his brow. "You're still Triffany, the lady I've known since childhood." He giggles.
Triffany knows he was always trying to annoy her. "I get your point, Nick, now continue your game, am not here to see you okay." She turned to face Allison who was just staring at them.
Nick saw the parked bag Triffany was holding. "You brought goodies." Nick moved closer to see.
Triffany smirked. "Don't act like a kid who comes to his elder sister for cookies."
"Okay, your highness." Nick looked at her, Triffany smiled victoriously. "What's inside the wrap?" He asked.
"Nick back off." Allison snatched the bag from her brother and glared at him. "You weren't excited when I told you she was coming over."
"I'm still not excited, am only glad because of these wraps," Nick said pointing at the bag.
Triffany frowned at his honesty. "Can't you tell a white lie at least?"
"No." Nick exhaled softly. "One thing with ladies, they talk too much." He was impatient to eat what she brought.
"Sorry to say this, but, I did not buy anything for you." Triffany narrowed her eyes and turned to Allison.
"You must be kidding me." Nick frowned.
Triffany smiled and open the wraps. "Tarda!"
Nick saw what was inside and exhaled sharply, he scoffed. "Only strawberry cakes?"
Triffany paused, she looked at the disappointed Nick. "What else were you expecting?" She asked.
"Gosh! Triffany you know what I like, you should have bought me an updated program PC." Nick said.
Triffany looked up at him in surprise, she leans back on the sofa. "Nick, I'm still jobless."
Nick raised his brow. "But, your husband is rich."
"Husband?" Triffany scoffed. "Don't let me think about that man." She had come here to clear her thoughts.
Allison brought cutleries and sauce, she shared the cakes as they dig in. "What about him?" Allison asked.
"He is not my husband." Triffany blurts out.
Nick scoffed. "You're both married and everyone witnessed the occasion."
Triffany looked at him, she had wanted to take these thoughts out of her head but it's now a topic here. Well, these were her cousin, she was opened to them. "Everyone thinks we're married but we both know we are not."
"Was there no cosy moment between you two on your trip in the hotel?" Allison asked curiously.
"No." We can't do that." Triffany said nonchalantly.
"But, you both kissed during the wedding."
Triffany raised the corner of her lips. "No, that was fake, did you not notice, we used our hands to cover the audience view."
The both of them looked at her with a surprised expression. "Then what did you both do on the trip?" Allison asked, still with her surprised looks.
Triffany filled them in on how boring her trip was, and everything Carlos said to her. "Are you for real?" Allison's eyes were wide with shock.
"I better find a job soon," Triffany muttered.
"He is horrible!" Allison frown. "Where is he now?" She asked.
"He went out to meet his lover," Triffany said softly.
Nick looked at her with pity. "I'm sorry Triffany, but you should hold him back."
She leans back on the sofa, eating her portion of the cake. "I've got better things to do with my time, I can't hold unto someone who doesn't love me. Just stop talking about that person."
She turned to Allison. "Allison, have you seen any available job a graduate could do?" She asked.
"There's one job opportunity opened," Allison told her without hesitation.
"Which company?" Triffany leans closer, curiously, this was something she has always wanted, a job.
"Glammaly estate."
"Glammaly estate?" Triffany stutter, where had she heard that name before, she paused and look at Allison. "Which Glammaly estate?"
"Your husband company."
Triffany bits her lower lips and furrowed her brow. "That's the last place I wouldmarriage of working."
"Hey Triffany asks him, you can get in without any interview," Nick told her in a haste.
It was the truth, but the Carlos she knows will never do that, they hate each other and she never wants to work for him, or in that company of his.
"Just eat. Allison am going to your room to sleep." Triffany said standing up from the sofa.
"Okay. But, have you visited your parents?" Allison asked.
"No." Visiting her parents was what she have to do with Carlos, but she was angry that they let her into a marriage without love, to her, she felt like she was sold into this marriage.
Triffany walked into Allison's room and lay on the bed, what a life she is living, her husband was with his lover and here she is, in her cousin's place.
All the things she would do, if she had married a man who loves her, she had made a plan when she was in school, but life never gives us what we plan.
Well, she have to rest and gain some energy, if she has to continue this married life, then she has to be strong. She closed her eyes and drift to sleep.
