Chapter 49: Chapter 49
: Broken
Bree headed back to the pool after changing her ripped gown and getting some sun screen.
She rubbed it on onto Robins back.
"What took you so long?" Robin asked as Chris backed him up, "yeah and where is Justin?"
"Oh, he wasn't feeling well so I took him upstairs, he said he had a headache," Bree lied.
"A headache?" Chris repeated, "he's just scared of losing," he scoffed.
"What are you talking about? You're the one who was losing," Robin replied, with a chuckle.
Chris stood up, "I'll check up on him, see if he's doing alright, "
Bree stopped him, "I think it's better you leave him alone, if you haven't noticed he hasn't been himself lately."
Chris agreed, " yeah, I've seen that," he said shaking his head.
"Why would you say that?" Robin asked, " I mean I have noticed he has been a little depressed, but it's not that big of a deal, he said it was just stress."
Chris shrugged.
Bree begun to feel uncomfortable
"Maybe it's because he isn't happy, "Chris replied
"What do you mean he ain't happy? Doesn't he have everything he could ever wish for?" Robin asked, a look of concern and a fear of failure settling within him.
Chris sighed, "Dad, I don't mean material things I mean a special some one in his life, " he clarified.
"He has Lucy," Bree put in, in an obvious tone.
"Yeah Lucy.." Chris trailed off, rolling his eyes.
"I know what your thinking," Robin said sitting up after Bree had finished, "we all know what that girl is doing to him. Personally I don't understand why he doesn't just let her go, she's too possessive."
"Then let's help him break free from her," Chris suggested.
Robin shook his head, "There are things a man has to do alone. We can't keep interfering with Justin's life. He will have to take control sooner or later, he isn't a boy any longer."
Chris sighed, "I just feel so sorry for him. I mean I know he is happy for Britney and I but sometimes I can see the sadness behind his plastic smile he keeps showing. Ever since Britney and I got together he has kept up with this attitude."
"You can't be saying Justin's jealous of you," Bree spoke up in defensive way.
"No honey," Robin answered, "what Chris is saying is that he thinks ever since he got back together with Britney, Justin's been realizing what love truly is and that what he has with Lucy is a waste of time."
"Really?" Bree asked.
"It's guy talk," Chris replied giving his father a fist bump. Bree rolled her eyes.
But they did make a point Lucy might get in her way, she had to get rid of her.
************
A few hours later Chris headed up to Justin's room after everyone retired to do other things.
Justin was lying in bed. He wasn't thinking about anything in particular. He wasn't crying, he had just frozen in one direction and lay there staring into thin air.
He heard Chris footstep approaching. He really didn't want to talk to anyone or feel or hear anything for that matter. All he wanted was peace and tranquility.
He closed his eyes when Chris walked in.
"Justin, bro," Chris called out to him.
Justin didn't answer but lay still. Chris walked over to the bed where Justin lay.
"You're asleep," he muttered underneath his breath. He smiled a bit as he watched Justin then left.
Justin opened his eyes and kept on staring into space. Bree didn't even realise the amount of damage she had caused to Justin's once fragile heart.
He had gone through so much that what Bree had done to him was the final straw.
She had cut down the last piece of hope in him, uprooted it from his soul. Now all Justin was a soulless being.
He was so tired of life messing and screwing him over he had given up trying to be happy, he just didn't care anymore.
Justin didn't come down for dinner no matter how hard Chris tried to wake him up. They found it strange that he his headache was there for that long, but Bree backed it up so very well they brushed it off.
****
That night Bree snuck out of her bedroom again and went to Justin's room. She creeped into his bed and touched him. She expected a wince or a push or shouting.
But Justin didn't care. He told her to do what she came for and leave. He put all his anger and frustrations into her that night and Bree felt every ounce of pain through her. Even as she left, this triggered some doubts and regrets but she brushed it off as she snuck back into her own bed before her husband woke up.
This kept on for three more weeks, every night Bree would slip in Justin's room. Justin grew accustomed to the creek of bedroom door at 11pm everyday.
Every time he head that creek he would open his eyes, fully wide awake and a piece if him would breakaway till slowly sadly there was soon going to be nothing left of the Justin they once knew. And Bree didn't have a clue.
Slowly very slowly Robin and Chris started to notice some changes in Justin. He was easily angered and bad tempered.
He started acting like he didn't care anymore, sloppy and careless. Bree saw it too but didn't say a word. She was getting all she wanted from him, not knowing that she was slowing sucking the life out of him.
