Chapter 46: Chapter 46

I felt relieved when I saw Tyrelle standing before us, but it was soon dismissed when I saw the look on his face. It was a mixture torn between anger and regret.

“How long have you been hiding, pup?” Al broke the awkward silence by asking him a question.

“Enough to hear your sappy backstory.” I am guessing that it was supposed to sound insulting, but the right tone just wasn’t there. In fact, he sounds more sorry than insulting Al. He sighs. “I guess you were not behind her kidnapping, huh.”

“You got that right.”

Tyrelle must not have liked the arrogance in Al’s voice because this time he starts to frown. He marched over to us until he was just a few meters away from Al and I.

“That’s nice and all, but I’ll be taking Gabriella home now.” Tyrelle looks at me, and his expression softens when he smiles.

Home. The sound of it just reminded me of my parents.

“Tyrelle, how are my parents?”

“They’re doing fine. They’re worried. The whole pack is looking for you.” He starts to offer me his hand. “Come on. I’ll take you home.”

I was just about to accept his outstretched hand when Al grabbed my other hand and pulled me behind him. “Hold on.” His posture becomes tense when he moves in to block me from Tyrelle. “I found Gabriella when I ordered one of my pack to spy on Deindra. I made sure that the information was disclosed only to the two of us, so I could rescue her with ease. How about you? How did you know that Gabriella was here?”

I wanted to push and tell Aelfric off. By how he was phrasing his question, it was starting to sound like he was sort of blaming Tyrelle for my abduction. This is Tyrelle that we are talking about. There’s no way that he was involved in my kidnapping, right?

“Al, stop it. It’s Tyrelle.” I insisted. “Do you really think that he would be involved in this?”

Al’s hold on my arm never loosens when he pulls me back. “Let’s hear it from him first.” He says, never leaving his eyes on Tyrelle. “Well, pup? Let’s hear it. "

“I wasn’t involved.” He answers.

“See?” I turn to Al with a confident smile. “Tyrelle, isn’t-”

“I heard it from Julie. She told me that Doctor Kusher instigated the plan.”

Al scoffs. “Weren’t you the one who introduced Gabriella to that quack?” His eyes begin to turn red and yellow when he grabs Tyrelle by the collar. “I know that you wanted to kill me, but must you bring Gabriella into this? You were supposed to protect her! Hell, I left because I trusted that you would take care of her!”

“Al, stop!” I grabbed his arm, urging him to release Tyrelle. “Let go of him! Tyrelle, tell him that it’s not your fault!”

Tyrelle did not even make an attempt to fight off Al’s grasp. “I can’t. It’s true that I introduced you to Doctor Kusher. I chose to trust him and therefore entrusted you to him. It’s my fault. I never thought that he had such a view of wolves.” Then he raised his eyes to look at Al. “But at least I own my faults, unlike you. Isn’t the root of this problem caused by your beta? For an Alpha, you sure are sloppy with handling your men. If you ask me, you are equally at fault as I am.” He growled and pushed him back.

“Cut that out!” I yelled, watching futilely when Al snarled and pushed him back. Soon, there was a huge commotion between the two of them when Tyrelle tackled Al to the ground and the two of them wrestled with one another. I don’t know what they were doing at a time like this, but I know that I should do something about this.

“I said STOP!” I blasted them with a force of air that knocked them back. I might have miscalculated my strength because I did not expect that I would send them so far back that they landed several feet from me.

Well, at least I succeeded in making them stop fighting.

The two wolves stared at me in shock, like I had just slapped them across the face. With the magic I blasted them with, I might as well have. I felt sorry for them because they seemed baffled when they were looking at me.

“I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hit you guys that hard!” Who knew that I still held so much power despite using it to heal myself? I guess all that training made my magic endurance stronger.

“It’s alright, Gabbie poo. I don’t blame you. I blame him.” Al points at Tyrelle, making the other werewolf growl and glower at him.

“Do you hear yourself? You started it first!”

“Your witches started it first!” Al retorted back. “Some future alpha you are.”

By the looks of it, I think that another fight is about to start.

Their bickering made me close my eyes and shake my head. Using my magic no longer gives me a headache, but listening to these two definitely does. For what reason have they really come?

“Can you two just shut up? We have to-” I stopped whatever I was about to say next when I heard howls in the air. Al and Tyrelle paused as well, and swiftly got on their feet in full alert.

A pack of wolves appeared in the direction of woods right behind them, making the two take up tense positions as they readied themselves to fight.

“Am I safe to assume that your pack might arrive later for backup?” Al asks Tyrelle.

“That depends if my father got my text early enough to send a backup. Otherwise, it will just be the two of us.”

“Lame.” Al sighs with disappointment.

“What? It’s not like you brought backup, either.” Tyrelle says irritably at him.

Al shakes his head and clicks his tongue. “You’re such a little pup. Don’t you know that I am the back up?”

“Hearing your arrogance still makes me sick.” Al and Tyrelle turned back to look at someone behind me long before I heard a voice.
