Chapter 9: Chapter 9
VICTORIA'S POV...
"So that means you won't go on a date with him?" Nessa asked and I sighed.
"I don't know. If you think about everything, I'm actually in a relationship with Ola." I admitted
"You mean what?" Debby finally looked up from her phone.
"Have you guys forgotten. We kissed. I agreed to the kiss. He told me how he felt and I agreed with him. Ola's my boyfriend." I said
"Now this is why I hate long distance relationship." Nessa rolled her eyes.
"C'mon guys I need your help. It's been four months since I heard from Ola. Ayo and I have been friends for three weeks. Now I don't know if I should really go on that date with him." I pouted
"We don't know what to tell you. If you go on a date with Ayo, that doesn't harm anyone. But it also leads the trail to a relationship. Which also doesn't harm anyone. I mean you did say Ola said something about setting you free." Nessa said and I relaxed.
Phew. At first I thought I wanted to do a bad thing.
"But you didn't tell her one thing." Debby cut in.
"What?" Nessa And I chorused.
"When you two end up together. It's good. Yeah. But then again, not that I even care. But what if one of you start falling for the other. Or both of you start falling. What do you think happens to Ola?" She said matter-of-factly.
"She does have a point." Nessa agreed
"Wait why are you supporting Ola. Thought you didn't care about guys?" I asked already having a smirk on my face.
"I don't. But if I was to choose who would end up being with you. Trust me I won't go for a Horny. Bus. Brat." She said coldly. Then she shrugged and gave that innocent smile again.
Okay this girl is a lot creepy. If you were looking for a substitute for the movie Annabel. Then it's gonna be Debby. They have a cute innocent very innocent face but inside, they are as bad as anything unbelievable.
But I trust Debby, she can't kill anyone...I hope.
"Well I guess you're right. Ola might not like the idea Cos even he doesn't like bus guys too. But I have to give Ayo a chance. He's a really nice guy and also fun to be with. And honestly, I like him. And I'm gonna do what I want since I like him. I'll go on the date with." I said and Debby clicked her tongue and shook her head.
"Children. Children. You two have to think like matured adults and not some horny teenagers...this isn't gonna end up well. Will you two stop being so desperate. At the end of everything you might not marry anyone of them. With the way you're behaving sef I don't think you'll marry anyone at all." Debby sighed.
"What. Is that supposed to be an insult?" I frowned
"Nope its an advice to stop being stupid. And try and understand how life works. This isn't some kind of movie." She shrugged nonchalantly and walked away. Leaving me and Nessa in the room.
"What's her problem?" I asked
"Don't mind her. A girl just insulted her and got away with it." Nessa smiled
"I wonder how you cope with her." I scoffed
"Got used to it in my mom's belly." She said and I smiled.
"But do you really think I should go with Ayo?" I asked still unsure.
"I don't think I have the right to make a decision for you. But just do what you thinks makes you happy. As long as you're happy. Deborah and I are both happy. Forget that stupid attitude she's doing. If you check inside that her heart ehnn. She loves you oh but she doesn't know how to express it." Nessa said.
Okay that was actually comforting.
"Is mum done giving you a pep talk. P.S. me don't love nobody...." Debby poked her head through the door to look at us.
I gave her a sad look and she gave me a long stare before sighing. She walked up to me and hugged me.
"But don't worry. You're not a nobody to me. You're my best friend." She said
"Thanks." I smiled and hugged back.
"Because I just said that doesn't mean I'm gonna be soft on you. Darling I'm still who I am. Deborah. She doesn't give crap. You can even see me in the Bible." She said sternly before getting up again.
"Where're you going?" Nessa asked her
"I have an unfinished business with one slot that thought she could talk rubbish with me and walk away." Debby adjusted her top.
"Debby if you continue like this, dem go expel you oh." Nessa warned her and she just shrugged.
"I go still win. Me wey no like school before." She smirked and left.
Oh God help this girl's life. Change her character.
"So are you gonna call Ayo now or will you still be looking at me like mumu?" Nessa turned to me.
Wait. If I call him what would I say to him?
"But.." I was about to protest but Nessa grabbed my phone and looked for his number. Dialing it, she put in on speaker. And on the fourth ring, he picked up.
Like he was expecting it.
"Um, hey." I greeted nervously.
"Hi. How're you doing?" I heard his masculine voice say to me.
"I'm good, you?"
"I'm fine." He replied.
"So...about our last discussion yesterday..." I trailed off
"Yeah? What about it?"
"Where're we going?" I asked between one small breath.
There was a long pause...
What's happening?
Is he still there?
"Ayo are..." I was interrupted by his chuckle.
"Took you long enough. I've been waiting for your reply since forever." I could hear the happiness in his voice.
Letting go of the breath I had been holding, I smiled.
"We're gonna see a movie." He said
"Which one?"
"I won't tell you."
"Okay. When are we going?" I asked
"Tomorrow." He said calmly and both me and Nessa's eyes widened in horror.
"T-tomorrow?" I stammered.
Out of annoyance, Vanessa collected my phone and put it close to her face.
"What the fuck guy. That is very unromantic. How would you tell a girl that her first date with you is the next day. Are you sick? That is very impromptu and childish of you. How do you expect her to get prepared, pick a dress, wear her make up and look pretty and sexy in just few hours?!" Nessa yelled and my jaw dropped.
She didn't just do that. She's worse than Debby.
"I'm sorry. What should I do?"
Ayo began to panic.
"How about you don't fix a date impromptu?" She said sternly.
"So what day do you think is cool." He was already relaxing.
"How about Saturday. She's free Saturday."
Oh my Jesus. She's booking my own date. Nessa is literally planning a date for me. Why ooo.
"You think so?" Ayo asked
"Vicky. Start getting ready, you have a date on Saturday Okay?" She smiled at me. I didn't even bother replying
"Okay, she says okay. Bye." She didn't even wait for his reply before cutting the call
"Now that's how you talk and handle a boy." She said proudly
"What? You just invaded my privacy." I shouted.
"Stop being a cry baby. I just got you a date you should be happy. I mean how would he say tomorrow. Is he that dumb?" She raised a brow.
There are millions of people in this world and I pick these twins as my best friends?
What was I even thinking?!
••••••••••••••••••
AYO'S POV....
"Yes!" I shouted immediately Vanessa cut the line
"What happened. Did man city win the match?!" Tolu, my roommate jerked up.
"What? No. Victoria accepted my date proposal." I replied dancing.
Wait. Why am I dancing?
"You mean the girl you met in the bus that you've been tripping for ever since?" Tolu smirked
"Yeah. Tripping?"
"I'd like to meet her someday." He smiled
"Whatever. I just need a drink." I grabbed a shirt and began to leave my hostel.
And maybe visit LASU campus. So I can see her.
...............,
"AY!" I heard a feminine voice shout my name.
Crap.
"I've been looking everywhere for you." The voice shrieked. With a heavy sigh of comfort for myself, I turned to face her.
Chisom.
Have you ever been monitored and followed in your life? Like someone crushing really hard on you since primary school and it's just very coincidental that you two went to the same secondary school and also very shocking to have filled in the same university in your JAMB form?
Then you're talking about someone like Chisom. She's nice, pretty and all but I don't really feel her vibes. Not the way I feel Victoria's vibes. I tried my best but I couldn't bring myself into liking her.
She's just too pushy.
"Oh I missed you so much." She forced a hug at me. I'm not surprised.
Trying hard to pull her away without embarrassing her or myself, I took a step backwards.
I don't want Victoria seeing us in that proximity.
"So my dad just got back from the United States, and he says he needs to visit your daddy and I'm coming along. So we could enjoy some alone time together." She purred.
"Um sure. Greet him for me." I said.
Did I forget to say her dad and mine are business partners and close friends?
Now you know.
"So that means you'll come?" She asked with excitement
"Whatever." I said and she squealed.
Gosh.
"Okay I've got to go. How about a little kiss before I go?"
She moved closer and I replaced it with a step back.
"Oh c'mon just a small kiss wouldn't hurt anyone." She closed her eyes.
What? It's not gonna hurt, it's gonna scar me for life.
"Please Chisom respect yourself, we're in the public." My eyes began looking round for an escape plan as my hands tried to push Chisom back.
Just then, my eyes met with hers.
Shit.
No it's not Victoria. It's worse this time around. Very worse.
Deborah.
Her friend.
My life has officially ended.
When Deborah saw me, she just smiled.
Yes that her killer smile.
"Um, Chisom, you know what, how about we postpone everything till when you come to my house?" I whispered
"Really. Okay, my dad's coming on Saturday." She pecked me and jogged off.
When she was out of sight, I turned to meet Deborah again. She had already taken a seat at one corner of the bar.
Breathing deeply, I went to meet her.
"Hey." I greeted casually and she stared up.
"Hey. I know you." She said enthusiastically.
"But because you asked my best friends on a date doesn't mean you can talk to me. Now scram!" She said her voice still soft and gentle
"I'll go. But I have to say something. What you saw with me and that girl, it's not what you think. She's just another girl after me... I swear I don't have anything.... Wait Deborah are you even listening to me?" I asked and she jerked back to reality.
"Oh, sorry were you saying something?" She asked innocently.
Oh
"So Ade or what did you say your name was. I know you're here to talk about that girl with you. But you should know one thing about me today. I mind my business. And what ever is going on with your life is not my business. Yet." She said
"Yet?" I repeated
"You become my business when you start dating my best friend and trust me I can be more possessive than someone who found their mate. If you try to hurt her at all...I kill for breakfast. Ask any guy in campus." She said coldly and I gulped
"So you'll tell her..."
"Like I said. Not my business. And besides, she's still gonna find out anyway. So why spoil the fun?" She shrugged.
"Hey, can I get the usual." She spoke to a bar tender.
"Usual?" I asked.
"Where ever I go I make myself known. That's my motto." She smiled
Oh.
"Didn't I ask you to leave before? Or do you want me to call my boys for you?" She still kept her smile intact.
"You know what I'm not interested in a drink anymore. Just forgot I didn't do my GNS assignment." I said trying to hide how nervous I was.
She just waved me goodbye.
No one will talk about the meeting at the bar. Ever.
