Chapter 17: Chapter 17

VICTORIA'S POV...

With a deep intake of breath, I stepped into the bar.

I had only come here once, Debby made me do it. She some how dragged me and Nessa to have a drink...

Back then it was fun Cos they both made it lively...but now, I have the urge to turn back around....

When I first stepped in, the smell of strong alcohol hit my nose, making me frown...

To think that was worse, the whole place was oozing with the smoke from cigarettes....

You can survive this, you are Victoria Daniel, you can do this....

Hell no.

I turned swiftly on my heels, ready to vamoose from that place...

"Hey pretty what can I get you." I paused when I realized I was the one the stranger was referring to.

You can do this.

"Um...hey." I abruptly turned back to face the....man.

He looked in his early thirties, tall, full hair...he was...kinda hot...like he and the gym were buddies.

"How are you..." He stuttered, staggering a few steps backwards before standing upright.

Yep, he's drunk.

"I'm fine, you?" I asked with a little worry.

"I'm good, okay enough with the pleasantries, let's get us a drink." He pulled me gently.

"Please get us a soft drink for the lady." He said to the bartender.

Soft?

"Who said anything about me wanting a soft drink?" I pouted and he raised a brow.

"I..you..um...you look too...um...new here. You don't look like someone that drinks." He shrugged.

"You too." I eyed his appearance one more time, making him smirk and also earning a slight blush from me.

Slight ooo.

"Give us the usuals." He kept the smirk on his lips.

****

30 minutes laters.

"Oh my god. You really did that?" I laughed and he joined.

So far, the drunk guy is pretty fun to be with, and two drunk people are having fun.

I don't know what he gave me to drink, but I know after one shot, I drank at least five more of it....

Now..,I'm on top of the world.

"We would have been perfect..." he lowered his voice

"But..." I trailed off

"She died...cancer of the lungs..." His voice was with pain.

What is wrong with me? Why did I even ask?

"I'm sorry." I bit my lower lip and he scoffed.

"It's okay, it was last year, I'm getting over it...what about you..don't tell a beautiful lady like you doesn't have someone in mind."

"Well...I wish he was dead." I said and he laughed making me frown a little.

"That can't be true." He nudged me slightly.

"I'm not joking." I said

"Oh. I see you're not...do you mind if I ask what happened?" He asked and I shrugged

"He just cheated." I said and he scoffed

"Just that, he just cheated on you...I've seen worse cases and the offender was given another chance." He said shaking his head.

"For example?"

"A friend of mine impregnated his fiancée's sister and made her abort the child...but at the end, the fiancé forgave him..now they're married with two kids." He explained

"That can't be true." I mimicked his words and he chuckled.

"It actually is...That's only if you feel something strong for the person." He said

Do I?

I do.

"I have to be getting home..." He began to get up.

Wow, the very first guy I spent time with and didn't ask for anything...suspicious.

How responsible.

"C'mon right now?" I pouted and he smiled

"I have to and...also stop drinking or else you'd get too drunk to get home...in fact I'm taking you there." He suggested.

Pause. A stranger that I don't even know his name wants to take me home. What am I. Stupid?

"No I can handle it and I'm not drunk..I can even finish this last cup and nothing is gonna happen." I reached for the last shot cup..

"Wait, no, don't do...." Before he could finish his sentence, I gulped in the cup.

It was nice actually.

"You see nothing happ..." I began to say but paused when my head made a bang sound.

I feel funny.

"I told you not to drink it." He sighed

"I'm-Okay...just...fine.wow were you always this cute." I got up but staggered, luckily, he caught me.

Ayo's POV....

Immediately I dropped Chisom over at her place.....

P.S: not my total idea. I had no choice, her dad made me do it. After she announced to them we were a couple (which we're not) they acted like we were together forever.

I needed something to get my mind out of the times I spent with her.

A drink would do just fine.

........

I entered the bar and the fine smell of alcohol met my nose, making me inhale sharply.

How relaxing.

I was strolling to go get a drink when my eyes caught the most unbelievable thing...

Victoria?

In a bar?

Things doesn't add up.

I was about to approach her, but she got up instead, then staggered.

Before I could make a move, someone else reached for her swiftly and caught her before she met the ground.

Who does he think he is to touch her like that?

I felt anger boiling in me.

"Thank-you...see, I'm...I am, in absolute control." She smiled

Is she drunk?

Without thinking any further, I walked up to them and pulled Victoria off the stranger.

"Who the fuck are you and why are you with her?" I growled.

At first the guys face showed surprise and anger, then his lips curled up in a slight smirk.

"He's the one isn't he?" The stranger turned to face V. and she nodded.

"Yep..he's the fucking motherfucker." She said trying to release herself from my grip.

What are they even talking about.

"Well, I've done what I can do, the rest is up to you...erm..." He trailed off trying to guess her name.

"Victoria." She said

She just told a stranger her name?

"Victoria. Sorry I didn't introduce myself in the first place. I'm David. This is my business card." The David handed her his card.

"It's really nice knowing the both of you..." David began then turned to me.

"Take care of her, you don't see anyone like her every day." With that, he left.

Well he's right about something.

"Will you leave my life alone." V dragged herself out of my grip.

How cute.

"You're drunk. You never get drunk, you never even drink alcohol, what were you thinking?" I sighed in frustration.

"I am not drunk and who are you to care?" She crossed her arms.

"You're acting childish let's go home." I said to her and she scoffed.

"Since you're the mature one why don't you go without me. Someone would be gladly waiting for you on your bed." She waved her arm in the most dramatic way.

Still cute.

"Please let's not bring this up.."

"Well I'm not surprised that you're running away from the truth." She rolled her eyes also making me roll mine.

Well she had always been a pain in the head.

"Better lemme alone ooo. You don't even..." She was about saying something, but she paused, for a second, then clutched onto her stomach.

Then her mouth became full and round like she was storing something there like...oh God.

"Bathroom." She muffled out.

"Um..okay..it's this way..." I held her arms hoping well that she doesn't puke on me.

"Hang on." I cheered.

Not in a good way ooo.

We both rushed into the bathroom and I had to hold her hair up.

God I can't unsee the sight.

Of course she puked, she said something about being intolerant of one chemical in alcohol.

Now we have to take her to the hospital tomorrow.

And I'm guessing you're wondering how I manger to follow her to the toilet. Yes, there are certain rules, but I'm well known here...my elder brother owns this place in fact.

So I have every right.

"How do you feel?" I asked as she washed her face.

"Like I drank the water used to wash a dead mans body." She said as she tilted her head backwards.

Why would she say something like that.

"Okay let's get you home." I helped her move away from the toilet.

"That's Okay I can...." Before she finished, the worst thing happened.

It's not as worse as knowing she hates me but...it's worse.

She puked. All over me. She poured slimy green substance on me.

Ah. What you can get into for a girl.

"What the fuck V. The toilet was right here." I frowned.

"I'm sorry." She muttered and I felt the weakness in her voice.

How can I stay mad?

"I'll just wash it off. I'm just glad you didn't do that in my car." I said with gladness and she scoffed.

After taking care of her and everything, mostly her, we began to leave the bar.

She's never drinking again.

"Are you felling better?" I asked and I saw her do something, like a movement to signify that she was alright with her head.

But I knew better. She was no where near okay. She probably hadn't eaten before she came here to gulp in alcohol. Strong ones.

"Okay." I sighed and lifted her off the ground, bridal style, she gasped and weakly struggle for release but to no avail.

I carried her with ease, she weighed like a feather in my arms.

After some protest about our current position, she finally gave in, snuggling closer to my chest, making me feel warm inside.

I so miss her.

I placed her gently in my car, before rushing to the drivers seat. I entered and started the engine.

"Can I drive?" She muttered in a silent kitten-ish voice.

She's just too cute for me.

"Only in your dreams." I replied but softly to her, earning myself a low chuckle from her.

I can't help it. I just can't.

I turned to see her beautiful face...just tempting enough to kiss even when I knew her mouth probably would taste like...

But I couldn't help it, even if I had a choice. I leaned in to kiss her,

But then I paused, remembering she might still hate me and would hate me more if I did it.

So instead, I placed the kiss, not on her lip, but on her cheek, then her forehead.

I noticed her response to stimulus, her face flushed in a blush as she bit her lower lip.

Please don't do that. Don't bite your lip when you know I can't kiss you.

Gulp.

"Where are you taking me?" I heard her whisper, breaking the silence as I drove the car.

"To get you to a doctor...then home." I heard her sigh at what I said.

Naturally she'd have a comment to say to me, or a way to oppose my motives...but today, she just sighed.

I blame it on the alcohol.

Stupid thing, I'll never drink you again.

#lies of the heart.
