Riya's POV

" Dad, mom... It's not how you think it is... I... I can explain. " I said but didn't know what to say.

" We were working on a seminar in which we have to participate together and got very tired while working on it and once we had food, we might have slept as we were tired. Isn't it sir?? " I blurted out whatever came into my mind.

" Oh, y..yeah. " He said.

" What do you do?? Oh yes, you are a doctor. You seemed to be older?? " My dad was trying to assess him.

" Yes, sir I am a Pathologist, her senior. Riya is my assistant and I live next door to her./ " He said.

" You live here, in these apartments? " my dad asked.

" Yes, sir!! " He said.

" What do your parents do?? " My dad asked him. Dr Parth looked at me and I felt bad for him.

But he took a deep breath and said, " Sir, my parents are no more, they died in an accident. "

" Oh, ok! I am sorry. But that means you are on your own?" My dad asked.

" Yes, sir!! " He nodded.

" Now tell me honestly, what was happening here? " Dad asked him glaring at both of us.

" Nothing sir, we were planning our... Seminar, then we felt hungry and Riya made awesome food, we ate a lot... and after eating we were making short notes on our phones while trying to digest food so that we could sleep, but it seemed we slept before we could realise as we were very tired. " He said.

" Ok, fine!! I trust my daughter and the values I gave to her. Listen carefully, whatever happened here, must remain here. Riya, be more responsible!! " mom said.

" Yes, mom!! " I said. Thank God!!

" We came here to give you a surprise and share the good news with you but we were shocked by what we saw. " Mom said.

" I am a very happy mom, dad!!! Was missing you a lot!! " I said and hugged both of them avoiding talking about Dr Parth.

" We missed you too... And wanted to share the good news with you personally and not over the phone. " Mom said with excitement.

" Wow!! What is the news mom??" I asked.

" Beta, don't you think, you should wait? " My mom looked at him.

" No, mom!! I am very excited now. It must be something good as you could not contain your excitement. Tell me right now, Please! " I said.

" Ok, so... someone came to our place... and asked for your hand in marriage. " She said with excitement.

" WHAT??" Both Dr Parth and I said in unison. He was as shocked as I was.

" What happened? Why are you shocked? You are old enough to get married now... He seemed to be a nice young man from good family background and he said that he likes you a lot and wanted to get married to you. We liked him. " Mom said and dad nodded.

I was shocked!! Who could it be??

" You liked him? What about her? She needs to meet and like him too, Right?? " Dr Parth said as I was still shocked at what my mom said.

" Thanks for reminding us that we need to ask our daughter for her consent before saying yes to any proposal. We came here to take her consent only. " My Dad said sarcastically.

" But she doesn't even know him... How can she give her consent like that? It is her life and she has every right to choose her life partner. And as far as I know, she wants to study further. You can't tie her in the marital knots. " Dr Parth was still arguing.

Oh, I love him... If only he loved me.

" Are you her lawyer?? we are her parents and she doesn't need a third person to tell us what she wants. She is our daughter. He said that even she knows him very well and they are friends. He is coming to meet her and ask for her hand formally in front of us today. We would appreciate it if you could give her leave for today. " My dad said.

" NO! " Dr Parth said too quickly and at a very high volume as if he was angry. Even I turned to look at him

" No? What do you mean? " My dad asked him with an eyebrow raised.

" No!... I can't give her a Leave. I need her with me. I want her... " He said looking at me.

My heart stopped for a second, I wanted to hear it... But I know he was trying to buy some time for me so that I won't have to meet that man.

I didn't want to meet anyone. But the only man I wanted... wanted someone else.

" What do you mean by that? " My dad was getting angry now.

" I mean, we are very busy at the hospital and I can't give her a leave... I need her to be in the department. I want her to be present so that she doesn't miss out on anything. " He said again and gulped.

" What is so important going on?" My dad asked.

" We have a seminar day after tomorrow. I can allow her to take a leave or even leave the department for the whole day. " He said.

" Ok, fine!! We will come to the hospital and they can meet there. " My mom said.

" I am sorry ma'am, I know you are her parents so I can't stop you but I can't allow outsiders to come to my department like this. Only doctors, nurses and staff are allowed. " Dr Parth said.

Why was he lying so much?

Parth's POV

I was shocked to see her parents standing there in front of us asking and accusing us of so many things.

I calmed them down but soon they dropped the bomb that someone asked for Riya's hand in marriage.

No!!! That is not done!! I won't let that happen.

She was shocked as she didn't react. But why didn't she react?? Was she ready to marry someone like that?

No!! How is that possible? How can she do that?

Who was this man? How can he go and ask for her hand directly from her parents? What about her?? She needs to like him too..."

I kept arguing with her parents that they can't do that to her as it is her life and she had every right to choose her life partner.

Why was she not saying anything?? What if this man was her stalker?? He wanted to have her at any cost and it was an easy way. Is she mad or what??

" That would not be a problem as he works in the same hospital. He is a doctor as well. " Her Dad said.

" What? Our hospital? Who is he? " I asked.

" Why are you so concerned? " her dad asked.

" Please tell me who is he, sir?? " I requested.

" Dr Vidyut Sharma!! " He said.
