Chapter 20 - The first day after the marriage
Author's POV
Trembling, she picked her phone and dialed her best friend's number.
??: Hello? Xingyue?
Hearing her voice, she cried over again as her voice cracked in between.
Xingyue: Xia Na...
Her sobbing voice made Xia Na concerned as she asked non-stop.
Xia Na: Xingyue? What happened, darling? Why are you crying?
Lifting her chin, she wiped her tears.
Xingyue: I'm missing you.
Xia Na: Xing, do you want me to come there? Please, don't cry.
Xingyue: No, Xia. I'm okay. I need someone to talk to, so I called you.
Xia Na: Anytime, darling. Let's talk tomorrow, okay?
Humming, she hung up the call as her head rested against the wall.
As the cold weather increased, Xing's whole body started shivering. She just kept sobbing while lowering her head. And when she fell asleep, no one knew.

The next day was a mild wintry morning. Xi Song slowly lifted the blanket and stood up. He didn't even try to look for Xingyue and continued doing his daily routine. He was about to leave when suddenly his phone buzzed, popping his mom's name out on the screen.
He was a little astonished about why his mom was calling him early in the morning.
Glancing at his wristwatch, he picked the call up as her mom cheered him.
Mom: Happy first morning after marriage, Xi.
Xi Song: Mom, is there anything I can do for you? I'm getting late to the hospital.
Mom: Aye! Xi Song, how was your first night, huh? Did you guys...
Cutting his mom's words off, he replied with his raised voice.
Xi Song: MOM! Please, you know already. I'm getting late.
Mom: Okay, son. I just want to talk to Xingyue. Where is she?
Then he started recalling their last night's argument and looked around for Xing.
Xi Song: Mom, she is not at home.
Mom: Did you guys argue?
Xi Song: It's not like that.
Mom: Xi Song, marriage is not a surgery. You have to balance it well. Don't you care about her? Where would she go late at night? You disappointed me this time.
Xi Song: Mom, calm down. I'll find her.
Mom: Do as fast as you can. My daughter-in-law is precious to me.
Xi Song: I knew it already, mom. I’ll talk to you later.
Hanging on the call, he rubbed his forehead.
"Where did she go?"
Dialing her number, he ran outside and looked around for her. Wrinkles formed across his head as he again dialed her number.
"Yah! This girl can't even pick the call."
In search, he came to the backyard, and then his gaze fell on Xing, who was engrossed in sleep.
Breathing heavily, He kept his hand on one end while admiring her.
“There you are, Li Xingyue. I searched for you around.”
The rays of the sun fell upon her face, tearing the leaves.
Her sleeping face started giving a strange feeling to his heart. With a tiny smile on his face, he started moving towards her.
"Xingyue, you look so cute while sleeping."
He gently touched her eyelashes that disturbed her. Quickly moving back, he smiled.
"But when you're awake, you become an angry bird."
He finally noticed her unconscious body as he mentally slept himself.
"I should take care of you."
He slid his hands over and took her in his arms.
In his arms, she looked like a tiny baby. Seeing her like this, he couldn't stop smiling.
While holding her, he brought her inside the room and slowly made her lie down on the bed.
Taking out a warm blanket, she covered Xing's entire body and turned on the room heater.
As soon as he started leaving home, the thought of breakfast kept him there.
"This girl is lazy enough that she'll go eating no breakfast."
A sigh escaped his lips as he moved towards the kitchen.
Taking out some eggs from the freeze, he slightly cracked them and put them on the burning pan.

Xingyue's POV
When I opened my eyes after being engrossed in sleep, I was amazed to find myself on the bed. I had absolutely no idea how I ended up on the bed. But when I saw the clock, leaving all these things aside, I immediately ran towards the bathroom.
"Oh, gosh. I'm almost late for the office."
Soon after finishing my daily routine, I ran towards the main door when my gaze fell on the plate placed on the table.
Being curious, I walked to the kitchen counter when I noticed fried eggs, soup, and some slices of the loaf.
My lips curved into a tiny smile, knowing no one ever before made breakfast for me.
All my anger melted in a moment when I saw a note sticking near the plate.
Taking the note in my hands when I read it, I felt a little better.
<Even if you're angry, don't skip your breakfast. We can fight later but don't take your anger on the food. Be a good girl and eat it. Have a safe drive to your office. - Monster Song>
I couldn't stop laughing after reading his name in the end. Following his orders, I sat down on the chair and took a bite.
"Hmm! Having him is not that bad, though."

Xi Song's POV
After examining my patients, I returned to the room. My eyes met Ling Xiao, who looked quite in a mood today.
Narrowing my brows, I sat near my desk when he came to me and asked.
"Uh-hoo! How was your first night, Dr. Song?"
Hearing this disgusting question, I stroked his arm. "Can't you think of something else? Why are you interested in my first night?"
With a playful smile on his face, he replied. "It's not your fault. People are all interested to know if we will receive good news soon or not?"
Hearing this, both my ears turned red, and I stroked his arm once again.
"Keep your mouth shut! You should better focus on your work."
Taking my files, I rolled my eyes and walked away.

Xingyue's POV
As soon as I reached the office, I came to know about a meeting from the board. Checking on the time, I exhaustedly sighed.
"It's in five minutes?"
Wasting no time, I ran towards the elevator when one staff member walked towards me.
"Good morning, Miss Li. The elevator is under service repair."
As soon as I heard this, I almost fainted.
"WHAT?"
