Chapter 305: Chapter 305: Hive link 1 (2)
The perspective changed so many times, and Theo felt like he was in the brains of so many beings at the same time. All kinds of emotions invaded his mind, and he was so vulnerable to them that they felt like they were his.
Soon, a perspective came where he saw himself lying on the ground while Clara, Elias, and the baron were all around him, trying to wake him up, before it changed again. But it was the same, just from another angle.
Until another came where he had more than five eyes, making him remember the spider.
It was so weird to see himself but with someone else’s eyes, just like a camera or a surveillance system.
But with each passing moment, it felt like Theo’s head was really going to split apart. It was painful with an unbelievable feeling. He could feel something in the middle of his brain beating like a heart, and the more it beat, the more it felt like the pain was intolerable.
Until finally.
"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Theo screamed in his real body with all he had. He knew nothing else he could do but scream.
Tears started flowing from his golden eyes, which broke Clara. It was horrific to look at someone so strong break like this.
Soon, emotions, same and familiar as the ant queen, started to pour in. Theo felt concern just beside him, and in all the minds he was in at the same time, he could feel the presence of the ant queen, who was trying to calm him down.
It was somewhat working.
{Hive Link I leveled up!}
Theo heard the notification, yet he couldn’t look at it.
The same thing went on for so long that Theo felt like he had been there for hours now.
Until he felt a single prick in his brain and his eyes opened. The golden glow vanished, making everything blurry.
"FUCKKKK!!!" Theo shouted after suddenly getting up and holding his head in pain.
He started hitting the ground with all he had, making it quake.
When the baron looked at it, a sudden realization came to him. He was hesitant to say it, but soon, he just couldn’t control himself.
"I KNOW YOU’RE IN PAIN, SON" he spoke in a domineering voice that Theo could still hear.
"BUT TRY DOING A HYPER JUMP RIGHT NOW, SON. MY GUT IS TELLING ME YOU SHOULD DO IT RIGHT NOW!"
Theo wanted to lash out as hard as he could at the baron for even suggesting it.
Yet the pain felt so overbearing, and he was already hitting the ground so hard that his knees were feeling it now.
Theo bent his body. The muscles all around his legs tightened, and he just let go of the adrenaline spring he had been holding back.
BOOM!
A loud sound erupted, and the ground cracked a little. Clara and Elias had their mouths agape while looking up at the ceiling.
The baron was grinning hard.
Theo felt air all around his body, and it still felt like he was propelling upward.
When he opened his eyes again, he couldn’t help but close them immediately. The wind was hitting them too fast.
Soon, he came to a halt midair and started falling down.
That was when his eyes opened instinctively, and Theo felt like his heart stopped for a second.
"What the hell?!" he shouted, quickly regretting it when all the air started rushing into his mouth and wouldn’t let it close.
He was many, many feet above the ground right now. He could see the silhouette of the camp from there, but it was so far away. Theo saw small dots that were definitely his people, and he was falling straight toward them.
’How did I jump so high? This doesn’t make any sense!’ he screamed inwardly as the baron’s voice resounded in his aching mind.
’You are missing something.’
That was what Theo kept hearing from him whenever he jumped.
Theo got an epiphany right at that moment about why he was able to do it, but at the same time, he feared for his life.
When he was already much closer to the ground and only a few seconds were left before he was going to get crushed.
The baron jumped too, with a slight boom this time.
Theo saw the massive baron coming toward him at incredible speed. Soon, the baron grabbed Theo midair, which actually sent them slightly higher before they dropped back down.
Theo felt like some of his bones popped at the impact, but before he knew it, he was being carried safely. Just a few seconds later, he was back on the ground with a heavy BOOM.
"Ugh..." Theo groaned, his head spinning again, though the fear of dying had made the pain subside.
He sat down on the ground right away.
"Young master, are you okay?!" Clara asked, even though she already knew the answer.
Theo’s eyes were already closed again, making her grab his shoulders and shake him several times.
"Don’t, Attendant Clara. He is asleep right now," the baron spoke.
Something clicked inside Clara’s head, and she looked at the baron in fury.
Elias quickly placed a hand on her shoulder to stop her, but she spoke out loud anyway.
"How could you let the young master try something this dangerous when we didn’t know a single thing about it, my lord?!" she said in a restrained shout. "The amount of pain he was in... I could feel it!"
The baron was surprised to hear her say so much to him. More than that, Elias was frozen in place.
He knew Theo was different, but the same could not be said about the baron. He was the baron of a noble family. Respect had to be given, or even being beheaded would be a light punishment.
Yet, to his surprise, the baron responded with something neither of them expected.
"I am sorry. I got too excited."
"...."
"...."
The camp remained silent for a long while after that.
