Chapter 259: Chapter 259: Revealing the ants to the family (2)- Huge escalation
Under everyone’s different emotions filled gazes, the embermaw ants marched forward.
Their mouths started to form big blobs of resin, a size that was bigger than their heads.
When they were finally on it, some got up on its body while the others were down.
They quickly placed the resin on the grey rat’s skin and ran at full pace back to where they were first at.
While they were doing so, and the parents were already confused enough.
The resin started burning one after another with a pop, and soon, the fur of the rat was already covered with burning hot fire.
There were around 80 blobs of resin burning on it, and it was something the rat couldn’t handle at all.
The paralysis broke, and it squeaked one last time before it dropped dead on the ground after a few deep huffs.
At this point, the stares were not at the ants or the dead rat, but at Theo, who had orchestrated everything that had happened.
"Theo... you need to explain yourself really, really clearly right now..." The Baron was beyond serious. He already knew what he needed to know, but he still wanted it to come out of Theo’s mouth.
"Father, do you remember when I asked you whether you could bring back some ants from the gate you went to? You told me a story about how dangerous they were with their numbers and strength after coming back." Theo explained, and everyone listened intensely, even Clara and Elias.
"That really stuck with me, and since then, I had tried to find out if there were ants nearby me. And there were. I found them with the help of Old Man Alfred; he would have already told you that, I suppose." He spoke again.
"Alfred, you told me he was having more pets! Not taming them!" The Baron spoke with a frantic voice.
"This... I told you what I speculated, master. Once the insects are inside the terrarium room of the young master, I don’t pry in anymore..."
The Baron gritted his teeth but had nothing to say. He wasn’t going to tell him to enter his son’s room. That was not okay.
"Father, please listen to me. I had wanted this for a while now. And I am telling you all this because I wanted to explain my affinity a lot further to you both."
Nobody spoke, and that made Theo nod and move forward.
"I first got around 20 shardjaw ants in the castle. My quest to break through level 5 was to find an insect with a hivelink. The ants, coincidentally, had the skill."
"I broke through and made a deal with the ant queen, and it accepted. Since then, I control each and every worker ant in the colony with the help of the ant queen."
He kept speaking forward, "I tried finding ways to evolve the ants, and when I did, I made some of the ants evolve to these two new species." He said while pointing at the reddish and bluish group.
"Now, I want to address a problem with these ants... They are too small to fight anything right now, no matter the level they reach, at least that’s what I speculate."
"So, I have found another ant evolution... that can help the ants get bigger the more they come into the sunlight...
That is all I had to say."
There was silence for a full minute inside the study.
The Baron finally started moving and sat back at his seat while still thinking about it.
"Do you... think... You can get these ants to the size of a human one day?" he asked slowly.
Theo took a deep breath to calm himself and answered with honesty, "Now that I have the time to focus on them again after leaving the academy, my answer is yes."
The Baron’s eyes flashed in horror, and he moved his gaze toward his wife, who was looking at him with a perplexed expression.
"Theo... No wonder that primordial beast was so interested in you... You have done something unbelievable again, my son." The Baroness spoke.
Alfred was in the corner, but the expression on his face was one to look at as he stared at the different ants.
"I have never heard someone tame an ant queen before. Everyone says it’s the most difficult thing to do... Do you know how you did it?" The Baroness asked again, making the Baron curious too.
"That... I only have a theory, mother." Theo spoke while thinking, "The ant queen holds its workers very dearly. They are like a very big family. I showed the ant queen how I could help it and its people grow stronger by showing it what I did with the mantis... I showed a lot of food to the ant queen and told it there would always be an abundance of it... that was it."
Another silence followed the room, and Theo’s anxiety started to increase by every second.
It was not until the Baron finally normalized himself after coming out of the shock.
"I will have to think through what you have done, and the things you could do in the future if you get these ants big enough. I have seen how ridiculous their strengths are..." He spoke before looking at the Baroness with sharp eyes.
"You know what we need to do, right, honey?"
The Baroness only nodded and then looked at Theo again, who could feel something was going to happen.
"Till we deem you strong enough, you’re not to have full freedom, Theo. It’s for your own safety. You will be confined to an area of the forest that only we have access to. It’s all for your own safety."
"What?!" Theo couldn’t help but yell with a frown, "How am I supposed to grow strong if I have such restrictions on me?"
When the Baroness heard that, a vein popped in her head.
"You should have thought of that when you were taming an army of ants, Theo."
When Theo heard that, he couldn’t help but be at a loss for words.
He turned toward the Baron in panic, "You told me you would let me go to the gates, right?"
"Theo... that was when you didn’t tell me you needed to train an army of ants..." The Baron spoke, "If you really want to go to these events, you will have to show us the strength to back it too."
