Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Brewing potions- A test (1)
Theo was confused as to why the being had shouted right now. And calling him a vermin just made him pissed.
"You dare take advantage of me? Your lackluster answer only amounted to a lackluster one from my end too. But I have given you top-class knowledge. It’s your turn now," the voice spoke, making Theo look in front with a headache.
"What do you want to know?"
"How did you change the kind of those ants when they are so weak? One of those has a charred body, meaning they might be of the fire element. The other seems to be water affinity. And that queen? It’s Earth’s affinity! Did you make a contract with the artifact or something?"
Theo tried keeping everything being said in his mind. The being was hinting toward a bigger information drop in between the questions without even realizing it, and things kept clicking for Theo.
"I told you, it’s my ability. The things I tame have a chance to change into a better form. That is what I did with those ants," Theo spoke calmly, making the being stop speaking.
"It’s sounding more and more like the same thing... I remember now," the being said again, and Theo could feel anger in its tone.
"YOU ARE DANGEROUS!"
The voice was so angry that Theo took a step back, even though there was nothing in front of him.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
Before he knew it, some knocks came from the door, and it opened right away.
"We’re back, young master," Clara spoke and opened the door fully after noticing Theo in the middle of the room.
Soon, two big mattresses made their way inside the room and to the lobby.
Theo was still waiting for a response from the being, but even though he had a thorough talk with Clara and Elias—who had been frugal with their mattresses even though he had told them not to do so—there was still no response from the being, even though it had been many, many minutes.
’Okay, maybe it was all in my imagination?’
When Theo thought that, the bond between him and the mantis, and the one with the ant queen, perked up.
They both sent in emotions telling Theo that it was real, that they too, could hear it through the bond between them and Theo.
’Then maybe it doesn’t want me talking to it when there is someone else in the room... I don’t know.’
Theo made his way to the bed and slept in for the day; there was too much to do later on.
Tomorrow was the big day, when his classes were going to start, and a schedule was going to be made.
When the morning came, Theo got ready and went for his first class, the orientation, where he was told about everything he had to anticipate in the curriculum in the future.
There was heavy emphasis on how the advanced-level class was something they could be kicked out of anytime in the future if they found a drop in the requirements needed to be in it.
Theo sat with Elysia the whole time while also making some acquaintances here and there.
Now that the children were segregated, there was not much staring toward him. They were all students who were good in one way or another.
And some were really weird too; their family names were really popular. Some were very notorious for Theo’s taste.
But luckily for him, they weren’t a single bit interested in him, much less in what they were being taught in the class.
When the orientation was done, Theo made his way toward the first class of the day.
It was Beast Theory and Classification.
The professor was a really old person and, much to every student’s dismay, he spoke in a very monotone voice.
Theo bore through the class while making notes to keep himself awake, but the other students weren’t that fortunate.
The morning got to them, and they slept before the instructor, who didn’t care a bit about them and continued.
Time passed, and this class was done too, making Theo sigh in annoyance. There was literally nothing new that he could learn in this one.
And judging by the contents of the book he got, Theo could tell that the other classes were also going to be easy.
The timing and dates of the first exams also came in the very first class, and Theo felt like he was already prepared for them.
The next few classes were also based on basic theory, even though some of them were supposed to be physical ones.
When all six classes taught for an hour each were over, Elysia made her way with Theo toward their first production class, totally torn up.
Theo, who was filled with sleepiness and annoyance from the previous classes, had his eyes gleaming with hope again. A production class would finally teach him something that he didn’t know before.
It made him miss Bram for a moment before he went back to thinking about the class again. His brother was in a good school, learning something he was passionate about. What better could things be?
Introductory Potion and Elixir Crafting.
This was the class Theo and Elysia had in common for the production ones, but after that, Theo was on his own. She hadn’t taken anything else, which was the right move.
When they reached the class, it was the first time that Theo saw other uniformed individuals again.
The staring started again, making him feign ignorance to it.
"Let’s go," Elysia spoke in a dead voice while moving toward some empty seats.
Soon enough, all the students calmed down when a certain individual came into the classroom.
It was a lady with a sharp face and glasses to pair with that serious professor vibe.
Theo saw a person who was wearing glasses after a long time in this world.
"Without any introductions to waste our time, I will be conducting a test right away to test your natural abilities. There is a set of ingredients in front of you and all the equipment you will ever need. There is an instruction manual too," she spoke in a serious voice. "Your time starts now."
