Chapter 552: Chapter 552
"We won't fail you, Senior Cultivator William." the two Cultivators in question bowed deeply before flying into the distance. While it may seem awkward for men of their ages to bow to a junior and address him as "Senior", they felt no awkwardness considering his past achievements.
As someone who forced an Ascended Cultivator to retreat months prior with severe injuries, William was leagues ahead of anyone in the same level. He was even fighting Golden Core and Nascent Soul opponents as a non-Cultivator, and neither of the old men had enough hubris to assume their own Ascensions would place them on the same level as William.
They positioned themselves two hundred kilometers away from each other, then sat cross-legged and channeled their Spirit Qi. In response, William recalled his consciousness and watched their progress from above.
"Boom! Boom!" two identical shockwaves spread in all directions for thousands of kilometers, activating the Arrays that protected every city in their paths. Above the shockwaves' origins, dark clouds gathered while the air was statically charged.
The hair on the back of both Cultivators' necks stood on end as William condensed two Tribulations at the same time, but they steeled their resolve and activated their Spirit Auras to resist the descending lightning bolts.
With help from several defensive Artifacts near the end, both Cultivators managed to pass their Tribulations, sustaining only minor injuries despite their lacking foundation. To help William out, the Frostile Faction spared no effort to ensure everything went smoothly.
Seeing that there were no issues, William returned his attention to the Ascended Realms, though he didn't forget to warn the two about the ever-mystical Janus that occupied the space between Realms. Should they encounter the creature, he gave them some tips that would increase their chances of winning the coinflip.
Aside from that, William made sure they prioritized giving the Superior Calming Liquid to Fria. Whether or not it helps her, they were instructed to escort her to the Slightveil Plane precisely three days from now.
I've done all that I can. All I can do now is wait. William didn't enjoy feeling helpless, but he had no method to pass through the Ascension Portal a second time.
He recalled his consciousness from the Mortal Realms and focused on the current situation. To increase his chances of finding his sister, William needed to expand his search area. The tracking devices he gave away have limited range, so there was no guarantee that Fria's location would be revealed the moment she entered the Slightveil plane. According to information at the Filem Academy and Great Rouge, William has only explored a small percentage of the Slightveil Plane. In comparison to Mortal Realms... there is no comparison!
With improved Talents and having made significant progress in the Dungeon, William organized his loot and ended his exploration for the time being. In the main area, William didn't forget to trade in most of his Quake Dungeon Gems for a total of 220 Spirit Jades.
The significant number of Quake Dungeon Gems attracted plenty of attention in the market, but everyone knew that William and his group had been clearing the labyrinth nearly every day for weeks. There was no need to ask how he'd earned so many, though jealous gazes cast from the nearby students amidst restless chatter.
"My family head gives out twenty Spirit Jades a month, and only to our highest performers. This first-year makes ten times as much just for existing!"
"Heh. You only get twenty? I'd say your family head is a cheapskate. I get thirty-five every month."
"You guys get allowances?"
William exited the fortress that housed the Quake Dungeon and traveled West on foot. According to the System, this path would take him farther from Great Rouge—and more importantly, away from territory controlled by the Riverveil Family.
The System wouldn't give him any more information on the supposed group of assassins that were after him, but William wasn't trying to test his luck against enemies of unknown strength. If he could avoid them completely, that would be the best outcome.
Once he was several thousand kilometers away from the Quake Dungeon and there were no major population centers around, William increased his Ascended Fitness Talent to sixty percent strength. Combined with the movement techniques he knew, the fields of silver grass transitioned to forests then meadows in the blink of an eye.
Several unusual rock formations and hidden structures appeared in William's Navigation Radar, resembling giant ancient weapons dating back tens of thousands of years. If they weren't more than fifty times the size of his body, William might have considered storing one or two in his Space Ring.
Choosing this as his first point of interest, William used the Earth Element to create a silver rod, then covered it in Arrays that would amplify signals from his locator. He placed it in the ground and concealed its aura with more Arrays, then continued to travel West.
The further William went, the more ancient weaponry he found littering the ground, until he stumbled upon a large pile of slightly smaller weapons that had been corroded by some sort of acid. He took a mental note of these structures as he passed, but the level of Magical Beasts had already climbed to the peak of the Initial Deity Realm.
Of those that he'd fought previously, William noticed large groups of Violent Sound Mice and other rodent-like Magical Beasts. Their Cultivation wasn't overwhelming, but the sheer quantity would leave him fighting for several hours.
He dashed past the Violent Sound Mice and performed a series of short-distance teleports, quickly leaving the weapons burial ground behind.
They peeked out at the young man with their beady eyes while lifting their noses to sniff the air, but even the quick ones only managed to catch an afterimage. None felt inclined to chase after such high-speed prey.
William continued traveling for two days. He placed hundreds of amplifiers and protected each with his best Arrays, covering over a million kilometers' worth of area. His Navigation Radar encountered thousands of notable locations, and his Bestiary had a few dozen new entries.
As he covered more ground, William naturally encountered plenty of Cultivators. Some were hunting Magical Beasts in the wild, while others were exploring ancient tombs or clearing trees for a new City project. Their Cultivation levels were no lesser than the Deity Realm, so William's low Realm would attract a lot of attention if not for the aura concealment of his Stealth Talent.
Near the morning of the third day, there were only a few hours before Fria would arrive on the Slightveil Plane. So far, there had been no bad news from the System regarding his sister's condition, but William still couldn't keep some nervousness from climbing up his throat.
The System knew exactly how to ease the nerves of its loot-goblin Host, and with a series timely notifications that signaled the end of a month-long period, William's eyes sparkled in anticipation.
