Chapter 875: Chapter 875
The Germans beat up Wu Lei and his two companions, motivated not just by their despicable act of assaulting the flight attendants, but also by a desire to vent their frustration. Living under the shadow of death for over a day had pushed them to the brink of collapse. Unfortunately for Wu Lei and the others, they presented themselves as punching bags, and they completely deserved their misfortune. For original chapters go to NoveIꜰire.net
Even with protective clothing, these three unlucky souls were beaten to a severe state, coughing up blood with each breath, their brow bones broken, and their heads swollen like pigs.
"Save us, we’ll never dare to do it again," Huangfu Xiong pleaded, looking fierce and evil. Wu Lei, frightened, crawled over to Tang Zheng, begging for help.
Wu Lei regretted his actions, having joined the celebrity team just for some thrilling fling with a flight attendant. But who would have thought it would turn out ?
"Get lost!" Tang Zheng, annoyed, kicked Wu Lei in the face, sending him sprawling away. He was a disgrace to the Chinese, and with that, Tang Zheng turned and left. Even if he didn’t intervene, the Germans wouldn’t dare kill Wu Lei, as the Trojan Rules were not to be taken lightly.
"Suit yourself!" Dantai shrugged his shoulders indifferently to Wu Lei’s life or death. No matter how much you help such people, they’ll never genuinely appreciate you. The special agent thought it’d be best to get rid of this trash soon; it’s always problematic to have compatriots in the German ranks.
"There’s nothing wrong with being scum; what’s wrong is overestimating yourself," said Huangfu Xiong, who revered strength and was rather indifferent to the concepts of good and evil. Having clawed his way back from the brink of death, he took a rather detached view of such matters.
"Beat them half to death and then hang them up to wind-dry," ordered Landeck, and with that, he returned to his sleeping bag. He couldn’t trust the Chinese and wanted to get rid of them quickly.
Wu Lei and his companions pleaded quietly, to no avail. They’d managed to alienate both sides and had completely lost their status.
The two students who’d been beaten up hated Wu Lei to death.
After the commotion quieted down, a silence descended once more. The sea breeze carried the seawater against the hull, making a whooshing sound that was oddly calming. As time passed, the exhausted survivors finally closed their eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Platoon Leader Zuo Yi, on night duty, cradled his rifle and yawned, taking out a cigarette box and was about to smoke one to perk up. Suddenly, a buzzing noise, like insects flapping their wings, reached his ears.
"We’ve got trouble; get up!" warned Zuo Yi, kneeling at the entrance of the hangar with his gun trained on the swarm of Insect-Humans approaching over the deck.
Gunshots sounded, abruptly waking everyone from their slumber.
"Set up a defense." Tang Zheng and others got to their feet, building a defense at the entrance. The Xu Changtai team, which had also been resting in the hangar, was startled awake and ran over.
Explosions were heard from the direction of the island superstructure, too, as two German teams engaged in firefights with the Insect-Humans. Illuminated by moonlight, everyone caught a clear view of the incoming enemies.
On the deck, ten thick clouds appeared, swirling into vortices, forming Teleportation Gates, with numerous Insect-Humans pouring out, some even armed with rifles.
"Didn’t Blue Trojan say we could sleep well at night? What’s the meaning of this?" complained a sleep-deprived female university student with dark circles under her eyes, clutching her rifle and trembling with unease.
"You really believed what the Trojan said? They love to screw us over, handing us a rotten date, forcing us to swallow it, then laughing and giving us a Siege Hammer to smash us to bits," said Huangfu Xiong, quite used to such deceptions. He pulled out his handheld gaming console to check for any new information and then put it away.
"Base People, welcome to Blue Trojan’s nighttime rest game. Please enjoy to your heart’s content!" The wristwatch speaker announced the Trojan’s message.
The Conquerors had no trouble dealing with these Insect-Human grunts, quickly gaining the upper hand. In less than five minutes, layers of broken flesh and blood piled up on the deck, spreading out like mud.
"Ah, watch out, there are Insect-Humans behind us too!" A female university student hiding in the rear screamed in panic as they were frightened and hurriedly moved forward.
"Sha Ou, Yu Manli, and Zuo Yi, grab your teams and follow me," Dantai immediately rushed to the rear. In the hangar, clouds began to form, eventually solidifying into Teleportation Gates. It took roughly ten seconds for one to take shape, but the situation for the German teams was dire, with many Teleportation Gates forming inside the superstructure.
Blue Trojan clearly did not intend to make it easy for the survivors. This initial chaos was just an appetizer. In no time at all, thousands of Teleportation Gates appeared throughout the aircraft carrier, spewing forth Insect-Humans and bugs that converged like a tide, ready to devour everything.
"We need to find a way out; if we keep this up, we’ll be worn down eventually." Sun Xueliang was using a Gauss sniper rifle with energy clips. Each shot fired a white beam of light, burning the bugs it touched to a crisp.
"Vast ocean, nowhere to escape," muttered North Wind, cynically crouched in a corner, shooting infrequently and sluggishly.
As the variety of bugs increased, the survivors began to find themselves in a tight spot. The Insect-Humans flapped their wings, sprinkling a phosphorescent powder that caused dizziness. As it blew wildly with the sea breeze, anyone who inhaled it felt weak and lethargic.
Tang Zheng yanked off his helmet and put on a gas mask. Except for Jing Xiang, the silly girl, all the other Conquerors were prepared.
The newbies panicked. Even though the soldiers were still shooting calmly, their heavy breathing betrayed their anxiety. No one is unafraid of death.
"Don’t worry, I still have some." Lu Fan pulled his rifle behind him and took out Alice’s apron, from which he tossed out dozens of gas masks. The apron’s infinite space was stuffed full of supplies by her for emergencies.
"Don’t fight over them, there’s enough for everyone." Seeing a Nazi youth anxiously bending down to grab a gas mask, Lu Fan lifted his calf and kicked him in the head, "Can we have some order, please? Give them to the soldiers first."
The three flight attendants looked at Lu Fan with desperate eyes, tentatively took a gas mask, and after not getting hit, they breathed a sigh of relief, realizing they wouldn’t be killed by their own team.
"We are a team, of course we share weal and woe. If we have a bite to eat, you will not be left out," Lu Fan patted his flat chest, assuring the five Germans on the team, before running off to continue fighting. Actually, she knew that these five unlucky fellows had been targeted by Dantai, and who knows when they might be killed, but this was also for the sake of the team.
"Someone always has to do the dirty work." Lu Fan sighed. Uncle Dantai truly was a good person.
Twenty minutes later, Blue Trojan’s announcement rang out again.
"Base People, the warm-up exercise is over. Please exit through the Teleportation Gate on the aircraft carrier within ten minutes and proceed to the Abandoned City. If you fail to do so within the time limit, the Teleportation Gate will close permanently, and you will be trapped on the aircraft carrier until death."
With Trojan’s words, everyone’s wristwatch sounded a violent buzzing alarm, and part of the aircraft carrier’s 3D structural map was displayed, followed by three red dots flashing and continuously expanding into red circles.
"Let’s go quickly." Xu Biyun couldn’t wait, but Qin Yan immediately grabbed her.
"Wait, everyone’s wristwatch shows the red dot in a different location," Qin Yan was annoyed – Blue Trojan was obviously making things harder.
"What are we waiting for, let’s just run for it," the Nazi youth couldn’t wait to leave the team, but as he saw several muzzles pointed at him, he quickly shut his mouth.
"If we scatter now, who knows if we will also be scattered after teleporting into the city?" Pang Meiqin furrowed her brow, worried to death, and suggested, "Shall we go together?"
"What if only our own Teleportation Gates are accessible to us?" Yu Manli was overwhelmed by frustration. Blue Trojan was too cruel, presenting such difficult dilemmas.
"First move out, Dantai, you lead the way to the nearest Teleportation Gate, Liang Mao and I will cover the rear," Tang Zheng shouted, knowing they couldn’t afford to waste time here. They could discuss while retreating.
"Whose red dot is the closest to here?" Dantai called out. It was the university students’ first encounter with such a map, and they were not familiar with it, at a loss, and still hadn’t figured out the pattern.
"I guess it’s mine," the Platoon Leader shouted, tossing his wristwatch to Dantai. His gesture was full of a heroic man’s flavor, and he didn’t worry that if the wristwatch was damaged, what would happen in the future?
"Whoever wants to leave can go. I definitely won’t stop you," Xu Changtai shouted, showing his democratic side, but he knew these people didn’t dare to leave. Just look at those bugs swarming the team outside – leaving would be a dead end.
"Huangfu brother, let’s lead the way, Tang Zheng, until we meet again." Xu Changtai was a tricky person and, relying on his strong personal abilities for safety, would definitely not enter someone else’s Teleportation Gate.
"Manli, Yixin, keep an eye on those five Germans. If they try to run, don’t stop them, understand?" Dantai specially instructed as he rushed out, trusting the two smart women would understand his meaning.
They indeed understood. If the Germans left and were lucky enough to avoid the bugs, then they would finish them off with a shot, aim to break their legs, and let them fall among the swarm of insects. In any case, they would make sure they died in front of their eyes.
The German team’s gunshots also began to weaken and shift, obviously making a decision.
"Let us go, please, release us," Wu Lei and his two companions, bound with rope and hanging upside down from the ceiling, saw the Germans turning a blind eye to them and leaving without a backward glance, and they became anxious, violently swinging their bodies, and calling loudly for help, but to no avail.
In less than a minute, a dense swarm of bugs gathered outside, beating their wings and slamming against the exterior of the command tower, covering the entire field of view due to their numbers.
The three male university students were scared out of their wits. At that moment, the two of them cursed at Wu Lei for bringing such a calamity upon them, and internal strife broke out under the pressure of life and death.
With a crash, an insect-human finally smashed through the glass and burst in. Without a moment’s hesitation, it pounced on Wu Lei, opened its fierce jaws, bit into his cheek, and then tore off a piece of flesh, chewing it before swallowing it into its stomach.
