Chapter 848: Chapter 848
The gunshots suddenly ceased, as if the battle had ended. Tang Zheng’s squad didn’t dare to linger, so they divided into two teams of five and flanked the area.
University student Yang Wei couldn’t run anymore. Just a moment ago, she tripped over an exposed tree root and fell, even losing her gun. But she didn’t dare turn back to pick it up, because any wasted time could allow that terrifying German to catch up.
Yang Wei was exhausted, her legs felt as if they were filled with lead, almost unable to lift them, her throat smoking, suffering from thirst. She couldn’t remember how long she had run, nor did she know where to go next. She just wanted to shake off that pursuer.
"Haha, you can’t escape. Once I catch you, I’ll definitely enjoy it. Chinese women are indeed beautiful," a German brewery worker with a rifle chased behind her, laughing uninhibitedly.
"This is the best day of my life." When Fei Lei first entered the jungle, he thought he was going to collapse. But when he encountered this Chinese team and chased them away like rabbits, he realized that his world was just beginning.
Fei Lei, recalling the thrill of violence, found it more addictive than drugs.
"This is the worst day of my life," Yang Wei bit her lip. Xu Changtai’s amiable face kept echoing in her brain, making her wish she could smash his face. It was that bastard who arranged for her to go out as a scout. She only refused once and got slapped several times.
"They’re all demons." Thinking of the ruthless way the Conquerors acted, Yang Wei shuddered. Any newbie who was slightly disobedient would be beaten and kicked. That shrew Yang Fengshu initially uncooperative, ended up with her mouthful of teeth smashed after being beaten, and still had to resign herself to patrol.
Da da da, the German beer guy opened fire. This time, the bullets were very close, hitting the tree trunk and stripping off palm-sized bark.
Yang Wei screamed, her heart filled with terror. But the next moment, her calf felt as if it were nailed, painful, and then immediately lost strength, causing her to fall face first into the ground.
The smell of earth suddenly entered Yang Wei’s nostrils. She coughed, and spitting twice, she had just gotten up when a large hand grabbed her long black hair and pulled her back violently.
Yang Wei shrieked, feeling like her scalp was being torn off. She then fell forward, and a foot kicked her in the stomach, causing her to curl up like a shrimp from the pain.
"Why don’t you keep running?" The middle-aged beer guy scolded, pulling Yang Wei’s hair and lifting her head, then slapped her hard.
"Heh heh, being a scout has its perks too." The beer guy sneered slyly, patting the female university student’s buttocks, excitedly swallowing and reaching out to grope her.
Fei Lei’s other hand was also busy, grabbing Yang Wei’s protective clothing by the collar, intending to strip it off.
Yang Wei grabbed a handful of soil and threw it in his face, hoping to blind him and take the chance to run away, but it had no effect. Instead, it angered the German even more, who beat her even harder.
Slap, slap, Fei Lei swiftly delivered over thirty slaps, swelling Yang Wei’s cheeks and leaving her dazed, unable to resist any longer before he stopped.
"Hmph, if you’d been obedient, you wouldn’t have to suffer . After I’ve had my fun, I’ll leave you a whole corpse," said Fei Lei, tearing open Yang Wei’s protective clothing. He laughed and was about to grab her, but in the next moment, a foot suddenly appeared in his peripheral vision and kicked viciously at his head.
Fei Lei was kicked away, rolling for several rounds. He was covered in mud, but being tall and burly, plus wearing protective clothing, he was highly resistant to hits and didn’t faint. He grabbed the G36 assault rifle with one hand and sprayed gunfire in the general direction of Yang Wei.
Tang Zheng pulled Yang Wei out of the way.
"Dammit, I let my guard down." Fei Lei was filled with regret, having forgotten to stay aware of his surroundings. In that moment, his thought wasn’t to counterattack but to flee because he caught a glimpse from the corner of his eye of the youngest group leader from the Chinese side.
Fei Lei knew his limits; being a group leader meant this opponent was not someone he could handle,
"You think you can escape?" Lu Fan braced the rifle butt against his shoulder, the muzzle of the G36C firing at Fei Lei’s left leg, emptying a clip. Half the bullets hit, tearing through the protective clothing and nearly severing his leg.
Fei Lei screamed in agony, collapsing to the ground. He turned to raise his gun, but before he could open fire, Lin Weiguo’s Thunderstorm rifle fired a Thunderball, shattering his right hand.
Yu Manli wanted to finish him off, but was stopped by Tang Zheng.
"Don’t let him die too easily," Tang Zheng said as he draped a piece of clothing over Yang Wei, comforting her, "It’s over now."
Yang Wei realized she was rescued, and burst into tears.
Sha Ou also saw Yang Wei’s plight and was furious. He walked over to Fei Lei, kicked down, and ground Fei Lei’s head into the soil, causing him to struggle violently from suffocation.
"Stop crying and tell me what happened?" Tang Zheng originally wanted to be friendly, but Yang Wei cried incessantly like a spoiled child, completely unselfconscious, forcing him to roar in anger.
"I, I don’t know, I got separated from them," Yang Wei was terrified.
"Take us to find them," Tang Zheng said authoritatively, pulling Yang Wei to her feet. They needed to hurry; additional intelligence could be interrogated along the way.
The squad set out again. Yang Wei glanced back and saw that the German who tried to assault her had his limbs broken and a sharpened stick driven through his collarbone, hanging him mid-air.
Because of gravity, his body kept sliding down, driving the stick deeper and causing more agony, but his mouth had been sealed with tape, rendering him unable to cry out.
A minute after Tang Zheng’s squad left, Fei Lei died.
"They never treated us like human beings," Yang Wei vented her dissatisfaction, recounting the crimes committed by Xu Changtai and his group.
Upon arriving at the spot where Yang Wei had become separated, Lin Weiguo surveyed the area. In less than a minute, he pinpointed the escape route of the scout squad and immediately pursued them.
Three minutes later, the first corpse appeared. It was a bespectacled male university student, shot through the back. In that short time, ants the size of fingernails were already nibbling at his body. After pursuing them for another three miles, a soldier’s mutilated body was found, decapitated with both hands and feet smashed beyond recognition.
No escape traces were around, signaling that this was the last battleground. The enemy, feeling assured of their victory, seemed to have taken their time to massacre their foes.
"That bastard, North Wind," Lin Weiguo’s eyes reddened with rage, having already been informed by Yang Wei that aside from the young man named North Wind, the scout team consisted of a soldier and three university students, two males and a female.
"This way, hurry, we might still be able to save them," Tang Zheng said after completing his survey. They had not found the male university student’s body here, which likely meant he had been captured alive. As for North Wind, he had undoubtedly fled.
"There must be a Conqueror in the opposing squad," Yu Manli cautioned Tang Zheng, not wanting him to make a mistake in his haste to rescue.
"I know," Tang Zheng acknowledged, understanding that North Wind’s escape without a fight suggested that the enemy was powerful, at the very least, a second-tier Burst Seed.
Tang Zheng’s tracking went smoothly, and twenty minutes later, they could faintly hear the sound of laughing voices coming from the jungle ahead.
Landeck’s scout squad had let their guard down after taking out several of the enemy’s members, now enjoying lunch and a short rest.
"I’ll take Jing Xiang, Weiguo brother will take Manli, Sha Ou, Lu Fan and Ai Yixin, you three go together. We’ll stage a four-sided pincer attack," Tang Zheng instructed after checking the time. "Xueqi, Sister Hong, Xin Lan, you three stay with Yang Wei. No need to charge, just provide firepower suppression and try to drive them towards my position. Let’s move. Take your positions swiftly; we start action in ten minutes."
Lu Fan pouted slightly, a bit displeased that Tang Zheng wasn’t bringing her, but she understood that with her growing strength, he had begun treating her as a combatant.
Tang Zheng and Jing Xiang stealthily approached the scout squad’s temporary camp. When they could barely make out their figures, they stopped and lay down on the ground, buried in the rotting leaves, with only their heads, camouflaged by helmets, exposed, unconcerned about being discovered.
A blonde flight attendant, having drunk quite a bit of water and overwhelmed by the nervousness of killing someone for the first time, felt an urgent need to urinate. Unfortunately, her squad was all men, making her hesitant to ask for company.
"Need to pee? I can keep you company, hehe, and we could do a little something extra," a German youth teased her.
This teasing dissuaded the blonde flight attendant from seeking accompaniment; she quickly moved away. Wanting to relieve herself nearby but startled by the sight of the youth standing up and looking her way, she decided to walk a bit further.
The zipper on the protective clothing was cumbersome, so the flight attendant unzipped it and tugged it to her waist, but it wasn’t enough, so she pulled it down further until it was bunched up above her thighs.
The blonde flight attendant walked straight towards Tang Zheng, who dared not move lest he be discovered. Read full story at novel※fire.net
"I’d be caught in the crossfire here." With less than a meter between them, Tang Zheng didn’t want to be splashed with urine, but it wasn’t yet the agreed time for attack.
The flight attendant hadn’t noticed Tang Zheng but heard Jing Xiang’s breath, turned her head, and saw Jing Xiang, whose camouflage was incomplete. Frightened, she quickly pulled up her trousers, opening her mouth to shout for help.
Tang Zheng burst from the rotting leaves, reached out, grabbed the flight attendant’s mouth, silencing her scream, and then brought her to the ground with him.
The flight attendant lifted her knee towards Tang Zheng’s midsection.
Tang Zheng raised his thigh, pinning her leg down, and with his left hand swiftly drew his tactical straight knife, pressing it against her throat.
The flight attendant struggled and twisted violently.
