Chapter 1429: Chapter 1429

"I’m not telling you!" Tang Zheng teased Fu Tianxiao, intentionally letting the man opposite him hear, while also smearing Yue Jing’s reputation, diminishing his image in Fu Tianxiao’s mind.

Only by fostering resentment in someone could it be amplified over time with the slightest manipulation, until they eventually detest the person completely.

"The Earth and Wood Engineering is pretty impressive; it can withstand the bombardment of Heavy Cannons." Tang Zheng stroked the wall, taking a casual look, finally having some time to relax.

Yue Jing, as the Group Leader, surely trusted what the guy at the entrance of the tunnel had said, didn’t trust Fu Tianxiao, and had arranged for him to come here to watch, or rather to bring back; regardless of the intention, they were now at a disadvantage.

Of course, the fact that those Conqueror-level Group Members didn’t stop the Group Leader indicated that there weren’t many sharp minds among them, lacking a strategist. Engaging with such a team in combat would be relatively easy.

In fact, what the Conquerors found most annoying and least willing to engage in Team Battles with were the types like Dantai who liked to use their brains. Tang Zheng was one of them, but as his Strength increased and he could directly bombard his opponents, he grew lazy about using his brain. However, if he were up against the Nuclear Flame or the Blade Empress, he would have to use his full intellectual power.

"Tianxiao, has your team’s IQ powerhouse been killed in a recent Combat?" Tang Zheng suddenly stopped, staring at the bullet on the floor, and asked a question.

"How did you know? Our vice-leader unfortunately died in Combat two matches ago." Fu Tianxiao was wary of Tang Zheng; his actions were unpredictable, but somehow it seemed like he controlled everything.

"Why didn’t you resurrect him? Couldn’t your Group Leader score ten thousand Points in two matches?" Tang Zheng couldn’t be bothered to explain; without a strategist in a team, it was doomed to fail. Even now, Yue Jing’s team’s response was pitifully weak.

"Are you saying you can score ten thousand in two matches?" The man came out, with a soft and effeminate look about him, mocking Tang Zheng in a snide voice. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by novel·fire·net

"Of course, our Group Leader almost always scores around six thousand per match," Sha Ou stated, as if it was expected, having grown numb to Tang Zheng’s scoring abilities.

"Keep blowing hot air, it’s not like you’ll be taxed for it." A Real Madrid Soccer fan, seeing that Fu Tianxiao hadn’t returned for a while, had brought some Newbies out to Search for her, and upon hearing this statement, immediately scoffed.

"Boasting? Do you know who he is? He’s the holder of the Rookie Scoring Record." Sha Ou gloated, giving Tang Zheng’s back a pat.

"Really?" Fu Tianxiao looked at Tang Zheng with surprise. This Achievement spoke volumes about his Strength and Luck.

Fu Tianxiao had been somewhat annoyed with Tang Zheng, but now she wanted to get closer to him.

"Don’t believe it? Check the Wristwatch Points Blacklist." Sha Ou looked proudly at these folks, and dropped another bombshell, "Hey, the third and second place holders of the Rookie Scoring Record are also on our team, want me to introduce you?"

"How is that possible?" Not just the Soccer fan showed shock, but Xiao Bai and Fu Tianxiao’s expressions were also filled with astonishment, their mouths hanging open wide enough to swallow a billiard ball.

"Ignorant." Sha Ou didn’t bother to explain, but this one mutter made the Soccer fan and Fu Tianxiao’s faces flush with shame.

"What did you say?" Xiao Bai’s gaze was venomous as a Snake’s, fixing on Sha Ou with a look that suggested he would attack if provoked.

"Xiaobai, don’t be rash!" The Soccer fan intervened; if what Sha Ou said was true, then their trump card was unfathomably deep.

In fact, the Soccer fan already believed it; after all, it couldn’t be faked. Just use the Wristwatch to Search, and all the information would come up.

"Alright, stop arguing, let’s go see your Group Leader and discuss what to do next!" Tang Zheng waved his hand to silence their debate, leading the way.

There were many footprints on the ground, Tang Zheng was certain not to take a wrong turn. His poised and confident demeanor only served to make Xiao Bai even more frustrated.

"That’s so cool." Fu Tianxiao was moved for the first time; she wanted a boyfriend like that.

"What, you like him now?" Xiao Bai was very possessive, he and Fu Tianxiao were recognized as an item within the team, and seeing her eyes sparkle at the sight of Tang Zheng’s back, he felt almost sick with jealousy.

"Is that not allowed?" Fu Tianxiao snorted; she knew Xiaobai didn’t really love her, and only stayed close to ensure she would support him first in Team Battles.

The Newbies from both teams had low Status; they could only squat in the tunnels, without Food or water, dirty all over, and after having witnessed death for the first time, they were all scared, drooping like frostbitten eggplants.

Seeing Tang Zheng walk by, a few Newbies from the Warhammer team stood up.

"Group Leader, thank you for saving us!" A man spoke, expressing gratitude to Tang Zheng, also to make a good impression and to get acquainted with him for future assistance.

"Mm, rest more, we might have to travel a long distance later, I’ll try to get some Food." Tang Zheng comforted them a bit, then moved on.

The tunnel was only about three meters wide, with many Newbies sitting by the side resting. As Tang Zheng passed, they would stand up to thank him, though of course, some ignored him.

"Idiots." Fu Tianxiao despised them; ever since joining the Game, the Newbies had been fighting for survival. Even if it was safe for now, you still had to try to impress the Conquerors to gain their favor and help. Those who acted as if everyone owed them money, would be abandoned by the Conquerors at the first opportunity, even if they didn’t die.

Yue Jing’s group did not recognize Tang Zheng, so they had no intention of standing up, but the atmosphere at the scene was really too ominous; almost every few steps, a newcomer from the Warhammer group would stand up, and so they too began to lose their composure.

The newbies knew Fu Tianxiao, Real Madrid fans, and the pretty boy; they were the core of the team. Now they followed behind that excessively young man, leaving them puzzled. Under the desire not to offend, they all stood up.

The tunnel was long, and the newbies in the back didn’t know what was going on, but upon seeing those in the front stand up, they also went with the flow and rose to their feet.

While Yue Jing and the others were deliberating in the Command Center about what to do next, they heard the commotion and stepped out just in time to see the newbies lining up to welcome Tang Zheng. Their morale immediately took a hit.

"Welcome back," Dantai squeezed past Yue Jing to hug Tang Zheng, patting his back.

"Have you arranged a Search in the tunnel? What’s the situation?" Tang Zheng reached out his hand, "Let’s get reacquainted, Yue Jing, group leader, I am Tang Zheng, Warhammer group leader."

Yue Jing shook Tang Zheng’s hand, frowning with displeasure at his own newbies. The other team’s newbies stood up, and now you’re causing a ruckus too?

The newbies, unaware of Yue Jing’s thoughts, just saw his serious, preoccupied face, and compared to Tang Zheng’s calm demeanor, it greatly lowered their trust in him.

"Group Leader, there are three newbies in their team who are among the top three in the Rookie Scoring Record, and this one is the champion!" Fu Tianxiao’s IQ was insufficient; her intention was to make Yue Jing pay attention and not underestimate the opponent, to avoid embarrassment, but she chose the wrong moment.

The Conquerors heard this and immediately started whispering amongst themselves, looking at Tang Zheng and his group with a different gaze; their morale weakened.

The newbies didn’t understand the significance of the record board, but they could definitely infer the meaning of ’champion’ and ’top three.’ This showed that the other side was stronger than their own team.

Warhammer’s newbies were proud, feeling lucky to have followed a good group leader, and some, quick to speak, started recounting how Tang Zheng had heroically chosen to be the rear guard to save them.

"I’ve heard a lot about you; seems like I’m in for a treat today, getting to see three record-holders all at once." As a veteran player, Yue Jing naturally didn’t care about the title of champion. He intended to be polite, but when the newbies heard it, they interpreted it differently, assuming he was admitting weakness.

"What are you saying, Group Leader? No matter how strong the record is, it’s all in the past. Let’s discuss how we can safely leave this place first, shall we? We already have a preliminary plan," Dantai interjected, displaying modesty but subtly emphasizing again the record and their own cool composure.

"Alright!" Yue Jing replied but then suddenly sensed something off with his newbies—their morale was low, and they exhibited envious looks towards the other newbies, "Not good, I’ve been outmaneuvered."

Yue Jing wasn’t so foolish as to be beyond saving. After some thought, he realized what was happening, but Dantai and Tang Zheng didn’t give him a chance to recover, whisking him into the Command Center.

"I’ve already arranged for a Search party in the tunnel to look for the Ammunition and Supplies stores; Group Leader Yue Jing has just entered, so he’s not familiar with this place either," Dantai briefed, interrupting Yue Jing.

Yue Jing was nearly livid, trying to interject several times but constantly being interrupted by Tang Zheng and Dantai’s back-and-forth. However, he couldn’t get angry; they were discussing Serious Business.

"Group Leader Yue, did your team also enter the game early to conquer the Eve of Parasitism?" Tang Zheng needed to confirm this fundamental issue.

"Yes, but obviously there was a glitch in the Trojan Transmission, and this place seems a lot like the Warhammer world," Fu Tianxiao interjected eagerly. Such behavior made Yue Jing glance at her imperceptibly, suspicion arising.

If it were any other time, Yue Jing wouldn’t have cared, but the charade that Tang Zheng had just performed had successfully planted the seeds of doubt in the minds of Yue Jing and his people.

"I suggest we hold back, send out scouts for reconnaissance, and then wait for news from the Trojan," the pretty boy, not liking Tang Zheng hogging the limelight, wanted to make a show of it and suppress him.

"What if the Trojan doesn’t get in touch? Do we just wait here to die?" Sha Ou retorted sarcastically. As a lackey, he naturally had to be at the forefront.

"Sending out scouts is a must. How about three people from each side?" Real Madrid fan wanted to support the pretty boy but was interrupted by Dantai, who didn’t want to waste time on meaningless arguments.

The pretty boy agreed, but without refusal from the other side, it was his own people who unanimously said no, nearly sending him into a rage.

"Have you lost your mind?" Nose Ring poked the pretty boy’s waist, signaling with his eyes for him to look around. Sending three each would put their side at a significant disadvantage.

"There are so many people?" The pretty boy broke out in a cold sweat; noticing that in his Command Center, the others outnumbered his side three to one, "These wouldn’t all be Conquerors, would they?"

"What are these small fries doing here? Conquerors stay, the rest of you get out," Yue Jing roared, venting his anger.
