Chapter 1406: Chapter 1406
The Japanese had never heard of the Blade Empress’s achievements, although her entrance was strong, they also had their trump cards. However, there were two other teams on the field, and they sought to reap benefits from the chaos, so they withdrew and prepared to ambush from all around, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
The ultimate boss was heavily damaged, letting out pitiful roars and writhing, attempting a counterattack, but no one engaged in combat anymore; they all were wary of Elizabeth—there was no helping it, the Empress exerted too much pressure on everyone.
"Elizabeth, do you think riding a dragon makes you impressive?" Mu Nianqi provocatively challenged the Blade Empress, as blades of air materialized around her, forming a tornado before hissing towards her.
"Is that you? Still not dead?" Elizabeth, holding the reins, made the dragon lower its altitude, facing the incoming air blades without even blinking. She swung the Sword of Oath and Victory, scattering them.
"You’re still not dead; how could I possibly be gone?" Mu Nianqi clenched her fist, preparing for combat. She had once suffered a defeat at this girl’s hand, which was a great humiliation for someone as confident as her, and she sought revenge.
"Where have you been these last two years? Still at the level of a 1st tier hero?" Elizabeth glanced at Mu Nianqi, undeterred. "If you still rely on the Witch’s Blade, your defeat is certain."
"How do you know without fighting?" Mu Nianqi felt bitterness in her heart. She had left the Trojan Room on impulse back then because of the Group Leader’s death and the eradication of her team, coupled with a fear of Elizabeth. Now, seeing the queen-like Elizabeth, she regretted wasting those two years.
"I won’t fight a severely wounded survivor. Take your Group Members and leave. The next time we meet, I will take your head," Elizabeth said, looking towards the sliced open altar revealing a deep hole, clearly where the treasure lay, but she wasn’t in a hurry to investigate.
The Blade Empress dove, swung her sword, and started attacking the ultimate boss with disregard for anyone else, while shredded vines flew all around.
"Group Leader, we can’t let them go," the deputy leader urged, setting aside the reward points from killing the enemy faction in the Team Battle—their equipment alone was a huge haul.
"You can take matters into your own hands," Elizabeth had her principles of conduct, which she would never change for the sake of profit.
"It’s over, the Group Leader’s old problem cropped up again," a blonde woman said, touching her forehead helplessly. Elizabeth had been raised with a traditional knight’s upbringing, uncompromisingly upright, and her sister was directionally challenged. Although her strength was formidable, exploiting these flaws in the sisters could lead to their death.
"You there! Haven’t you left yet?" The Blade Empress eyed the Argentine team, her attack motions unceasing, keeping the ultimate boss that required three 2nd tier heroes to contend against thoroughly subdued.
Elizabeth naturally continued fighting the boss, but no one dared to accuse her of kill-stealing.
"Go!" The Argentine team, already crippled, weighed their options and decided to give up. Elizabeth’s displayed strength was too terrifying.
"What are you daydreaming about, go chase them!" The blonde woman didn’t want the ’spoils of war’ to escape, but after taking a step, the deputy leader grabbed her wrist.
"Kill the boss first, then we talk about the mission," the deputy leader, having followed Elizabeth for over twenty matches, noticed from her subtle expressions that she was injured.
"Let’s also withdraw," the Warhammer team’s strength was too weak, not nearly enough for Elizabeth alone to handle; Qin Yan decisively ordered.
Suddenly, the Blade Empress swung her sword, sending golden Sword Qi toward a ruined wall, revealing a man who materialized from the air.
"Leave, don’t make me say it a second time." Elizabeth, possessing the Eye of Truth, had no trouble seeing through such low-level invisibility.
"There’s someone else!" A man who looked like a gorilla shook his ears and sprinted, dashing into a building thirty meters away, but following a loud boom, he was flung out, plowing a trench in the ground until he crashed against a stone monument and finally came to a stop.
Bang, the monument cracked in a web pattern, then shattered into a heap of stones.
"Attack!" The deputy leader, ready for action, quickly issued the attack command, unleashing various energies and ammunition.
The stone house was instantly demolished by the blast, dust flying everywhere, but the UK team didn’t relax because a young man appeared there, surrounded by a shield, blocking all attacks.
"It’s Mirene!" The blonde woman, with sharp eyes, saw the unconscious blonde loli being held by Tang Zheng, bending like a limp noodle into a U-shape.
"Who are you?" Everyone halted their attacks, staring intently at Tang Zheng.
"Phew!" Tang Zheng spat out a mouthful of blood, his gaze spotting the Blade Empress battling the boss. Seeing Mirene, she immediately slowed her offensive, and in a flash appeared in front of Tang Zheng.
The boss, furious, charged over, making the scene even more chaotic.
"Qin Yan, stop the boss," Tang Zheng hadn’t expected to see Qin Yan here, pleasantly surprised. After counting the number of people, he noticed that only a few KTV hostesses and clients were dead, no essential team members were missing.
"Release my sister," Elizabeth’s concern was written all over her face.
"Group Leader, don’t rush," the deputy group leader quickly interjected, but deep down he knew it was over; their trump card in the negotiation was exposed. He certainly didn’t expect the other party to be a fool who couldn’t see the value of Mirene.
"Are you the Blade Empress?" Tang Zheng was very weak; he could barely stand there, relying solely on Gu Xueqi’s support. Pan Hui wasn’t dead but had no strength left to even stand. If Tang Zheng hadn’t killed the Guardian Beast, removed the wristwatch restriction, and quickly administered a few doses of the potion, this woman would definitely have died under the large-range magic cast by the Guardian Beast right before its death. Mirene had been too careless, thinking victory was in her grasp when she was hit squarely by the attack. If Butler Charlie and the Teddy Bear hadn’t acted as meat shields in time to block the attack, the little girl would surely have perished.
Facing Mirene’s unconscious body earlier, Tang Zheng hesitated. Her ability was too strong; even without growing up, she was already a formidable enemy. Yet, he couldn’t bring himself to kill a little girl.
Gu Xueqi was also hesitating. Reason told her that killing Mirene was the best choice, but looking at the little Lolita she had just cooperated with, she couldn’t do it.
"If you won’t do it, I will," Pan Hui said weakly. Just thinking about the equipment on Mirene stirred her desire. As for killing, she was used to it.
"Let’s have a fair duel in the future!" Tang Zheng made his decision in less than a minute, picked up the spoils of war dropped by the Guardian Beast, and was about to find a way to leave when the altar began to shake violently, and a crack opened up directly.
Tang Zheng activated antigravity and floated up without understanding what was happening, only to be attacked. Fortunately, his shield was activated, and there was no danger to his life.
"I am; what conditions do you require to release my sister?" If not for fear of harming her sister, Elizabeth would have blasted Tang Zheng with her ultimate ability long ago.
"Group Leader, don’t be anxious." The blonde woman was about to die of anxiety. What kind of negotiation was this?
"Please help me kill that BOSS," Tang Zheng instructed the Blade Empress while he listened attentively to the northeast direction. "Qin Yan, you take Brother Lin and Mu Nianqi to the northeast. There’s a group leader named Li Kelun fighting a chieftain there, though it should be over by now. Pick up any spoils if there are any, but stay safe."
"Watch him," Elizabeth instructed her deputy group leader, then turned to go kill the BOSS obediently.
"Wait." The deputy group leader stopped Elizabeth, staring at Tang Zheng, "How do we ensure that after we do this, you will release Mirene?"
"You don’t have a choice, or else I would kill her right now," said Tang Zheng, just bluffing, but his acting was enough to deceive everyone.
"Do you think we’re fools? You’re severely injured; how will you escape after handing over Mirene?" The blonde woman interjected, not easily convinced.
"I guess killing it will complete the mission. Then everyone can go home," Tang Zheng shrugged, "Don’t waste time; go now."
"Trust him!" Elizabeth, seeing that Mirene’s injuries had been treated, turned to join the battle.
"Group Leader, you don’t need to go. Just watch him here," the deputy group leader left the blonde woman to assist and took the main force to kill the BOSS.
"You actually agreed? I thought you would have me fight the BOSS directly, draining my life energy!" After a while, Elizabeth finally calmed down, took a deep breath, and sized up Tang Zheng.
"I’m not that shameless," Tang Zheng smiled slightly, "Besides, preserving your strength poses a significant threat to those lurking around."
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you?" Elizabeth frowned, unable to fathom Tang Zheng’s actions.
"You might have no problem killing them, but killing me? That’s harder," Tang Zheng shook his finger, "Besides, you’re also injured. Otherwise, why would you let other teams leave? Don’t talk about not killing the injured like a knight; there are enemies who are completely unharmed."
"Yes, I’m injured," Elizabeth admitted. In the process of searching for Mirene, she had encountered several bosses, including the Storm Chieftain. Li Kelun and his team almost got wrecked by her car, and she barely escaped but managed to kill the chieftain, accumulating various injuries over several rounds of combat.
"Group Leader," the blonde woman was shocked; Elizabeth was too honest.
"It’s okay; together we can clear all the enemies here and then share the spoils of war fairly." Two teams facing an almost fatally wounded BOSS had no problems, and as Tang Zheng spoke, it was finished.
"Big brother, what’s happened to me?" Mirene moaned, waking up. When her vision returned, she saw Elizabeth and immediately smiled, "Sister."
Mirene jumped down to the ground and ran towards her.
"Be careful." Elizabeth took a defensive stance, ready to cover her sister, only to see that Tang Zheng opposite her remained still. Instead, the young woman behind him looked like she was about to make a move.
"Hey, this bet is too big," Gu Xueqi sighed. Through this conversation, she could also see Elizabeth’s character. Letting go of Mirene meant there wouldn’t be a fight, but if the other side was pretending, what then? (To be continued.
