Chapter 34: Chapter 34

… I will steal you from this world, if I must…

Lawrence POV:-

Being unimaginably infuriated and utterly senseless I grit my teeth in anger and rest my head on the steering wheel. If it could anyone, I wouldn’t complain even once but my own brother.

And moreover Adrian knew she… loved him. That explains why he was stunned when he got married. Why did it have to be Adrian?

I felt so heartbroken, I love her so much. Being overwhelmingly stressed, I don't have enough courage to go home. If I knew before, I would never marry Evelyn.

I didn’t want to destroy her life over me. Just imagine if she never fell for me? What if her love for Adrian remained the same and she would only be hurt to herself be married to me?

I took a deep breath and called father, "Father, take mother out for dinner tonight, it would be good for you guys." I said.

"Why? Why so suddenly? I mean, I don’t mind but why out of the blue?" He asked, laughing a little.

"Just... I just thought that it would be good.." I said, putting my hand over my mouth to not cry.

"What happened, Lawrence?" Father asked, afraid. I don't want to make my mother and father tense.

"Nothing..... You just take mother out for dinner." I whispered.

"Okay." father said as he cut the call.

Right now, I am in my office and being outraged more than anyone can comprehend, a tear rolled down my cheek but biting the inside of my cheek I hid my face in my hands, trying to suppress my tears.

Evelyn is mine and I will never tolerate the fact that she liked my brother even if it was someone else, I can understand but my own brother and I are not even aware of it.

I know we were good friends and I also haven't shared everything with her so did she. But, Adrian, he should've told me about it.

I know that the more I am gonna see her face the more I'll be angry and I don't know what I'll do to her that's why I send her to her parent's home.

Now, she is not here, I don't have to worry about holding my anger back.

I tried so hard to control my rage but seeing her was breaking my heart but now when he is not here, I don’t have to control my fury.

After a devilishly long time, night came. I returned home and my heartache at the fact that Evelyn is not here to greet me. But the intense rage won over me as I stormed inside, all the grief inside me was converted into wrath.

"ADRIAN!!" I yelled, my voice echoed through the empty hallways indicating something terrible had happened.

Adrian came worriedly and asked, "What is it, Brother? Is everything okay?"

"Where's mother and father and What is Danielle doing?" I asked, taking a step closer dominantly with utter fury glistening in my eyes.

"Father took mother out for dinner and Danielle is sleeping." He responded vaguely.

I nodded and looked at him boiling with anger. He looked at me afraid as I stood in front of him with my hands in the pockets of my pants.

"What… happened, Brother?" He asked, swallowing hard.

“What happened huh?” I chuckled dryly, infuriated at his fucking coward who couldn’t tell me anything.

I looked away for a second and slapped Adrian hard across his face which stunned him. The sound of the slap echoed in the empty hall. I heard a squeak but ignored it; probably Danielle but nothing could overcome my rage. I then grabbed his collar and growled,

"When you knew that Evelyn liked you so why did you let her destroy her life? When you knew about her feelings then why did you let her marry me? Can’t your tiny brain comprehend the suffering she might have felt when she married the brother of the man she loved!?” I yelled, extremely furious at him.

The imagination of what Evelyn must have felt when marrying me was breaking and his silence was only increasing my anger.

“Do you have any idea how broken she would be?! Why didn’t you tell me before!? Do you want her to be hurt?!” I scowled, pushing him away but the same and lamentation in his eyes cannot alter what happened.

His eyes widened in consternation as he replied quickly in a broken tone, "It happened in a panic...I-I didn’t know what to do.. I.."

"BUT YOU KNEW!! YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME!" I yelled, barely controlling myself to raise my hand against him anymore.

“You knew it all and let that poor woman marry me! Can you imagine?! Calling what person you begged to date to call him your brother-in-law?! What were you thinking!?” I growled, losing my patience with him.

"Brother, calm down… Things have changed now, aren’t they?" He tried to calm me down but I yelled,

"I DON'T WANT TO FUCKING CALM DOWN!"

"Brother, yeah, Evelyn liked me, she asked me to date her too but now she doesn't. She has devoted herself to you, I don’t even mean anything to her, I swear. Her feelings have changed. Believe me." He said hurriedly, trying to convince me but my mind is blank at the moment.

"You know what? That's what she told me." I hissed.

"That's the truth she told me to forget the f-"

"THE FACT REMAINS THAT SHE LOVED MY FUCKING BROTHER!" I yelled again.

"Bro-" I glared at him to shut him up. I got away as Adrian continued to look down. He was utterly scared of me, he was frightened of my reaction, of my actions.

"Tell me everything that has happened between you and her till now.." I ordered. Adrian nodded and spoke up quickly.

"I never knew she liked me. Three years ago, she told me that she likes me and I reject her because I don't think father would allow it. After that, she began to avoid me. Then you guys get married and a few weeks ago she told me to forget the fact she ever liked me because she loves you and wants her marriage to work."

"What about you? You were holding her hand too? Do you feel anything for her?" I asked, losing my breath, my mind.

He looked at me in astonishment, "What?" He asked, eyes widened in appall. I swear, if he felt anything for her, I would move out right now, I wouldn’t be able to bear this anymore.

"You reject her because according to you father won't allow it. And you? What do you feel about her?" I asked sternly, curling my hands in a fist, if he said he loves her too I would break his jaw right now to think about my wife like this.

"I never liked her. I never felt anything for her in my entire life, these were her feelings, her past." He said quickly, shivering violently with tears brimming in his eyes.

Taking a step closer, I grabbed his nape and looked at him with the glint of dark and malevolence gaze, "You better never will, understand? Whatever it was, it is dying today, right now."

"Y-yes, Brother," He stuttered, nodding.

“Evelyn is my wife and I would never tolerate anyone with her.” I warned him direly.

“I-I understand.” Without sparing a glance at Adrian, I went to my room.
