Chapter 64: Chapter 64
ABUJA, NIGERIA.
"Are you sure, Amir? I don't know why I feel like you will be committing such grievous sin getting married to me. I mean, you should be doing what guys your age are doing right now than becoming a father at early stage and also a husband. At twenty one, you should focus on building your future. Have girlfriends like your friends are doing." Bushra is still afraid of what Amir had said so her heart isn't exactly settled with the decision.
Don't get her wrong, she really likes Amir a lot and could tolerate him more than she does all her suitors but then again, he is also the youngest and still have a lot to experience. She is hundred percent sure he never planned on getting married anytime soon had it not being for her dead husband, his brother, he wouldn't have thought about marriage at such a young age. And one thing she knew about Amir is, he is extremely stubborn and stays firm upon what he wants. He confessed to liking her before she got married, crushing on her in the sidewalks and also being the best friend anyone could wish for. He is the perfect friend out there, she is sure he will be the best husband too.
She's always been comfortable around him, he makes her feel at home and at ease whenever he is around. When the news of Mika'il remarrying reached her, he was the first person she called and he confessed to not knowing anything about it since he was at school when the alliance was tied. He comforted her and took the next flight back to Nigeria as he was done with his exams then for the year. He calls her often, talks to her about nothing and everything. She knows each and every secret of his as he does hers, they are best friends after all.
Granted, he does not look anything like his age, but that doesn't mean she will ever forget that he is a year younger than her. He is taller than her, has little of Mika'il features and also bulkier than her ex-husband though not as tall. Some say he is handsomer than Mika'il, she sometimes agree with them because of his lighter shade complexion which he probably took from late Hajiya Khadijah. His nose isn't crooked but perfectly straight, his lips are little smaller then Mika'il's and have sharper jaw too that could cut through glass with no struggle.
Then there is the issue about him and school, his final exams awaits him. She hopes he is not going to transfer back to Nigeria just because of her for studying in Nigeria is equal to never graduating, she don't want him to experience that. He might want to go to private one but that'd still not be the best option for him. Ugh, the guy is making her brain turn to grinding machine meant for beef and chicken, not her brain for goodness sake! Why are they dropping bombs on her head unnecessarily? Wait, is she even considering getting married to someone younger than her, her best friend, her ex-husband's younger brother?
This is the end of craziness, she never thought it would happen like this!
"Please don't try to discourage me, it won't work on me. You are only going to goad me to do more so I can be worthy of your love, trust me." His words were quite, his eyes filled with utmost sincerity that if makes her chest clench with nothing but guilt.
This guy is clearly hopelessly in love with her and there is nothing she can do about it than accepting him as her future husband.
"I hope you won't regret this decision in future, Amir." She sighed again then move her hands to close her face as if wanting to wake up from such dream. Her eyes glisten again when it landed on Amir whose face split up into a gigantic smile that instantly brought one to her lips. She's made him that happy, it warmed her heart instantly.
"I won't ever regret the best decisions I've ever made. Thank you so much, B. I'll make sure you don't regret giving me this chance too. Should I tell Dad about it?" He inclined his head like excited little boy, his eyes twinkling.
Amir has never felt that sort of merriment, ecstasy surging through his bones rendering him motionless. He is very sure that his eyes would be shining with hearts if they were in those cartoon movies. If there is anything in his heart at the moment, it is nothing but Bushra Amani's love that keep increasing with each passing second. It would be obvious but what he wants to do is place his palm on chest to stop it from fluttering so high and restlessly. And he thought he'd never get those butterflies, they are currently buzzing inside of him like a hive of bees disturbed.
"Oh, my God! Do we really have to tell them? Why do I feel embarrassed?" She chortled imagining their reactions to the news, it'd be comical that she wished she would be there to see Kauthar and her ex-father in-law who is going to be her father in-law again.
"We have to. They are the ones to decide, not that I'll let them think otherwise but they are our elders." His smile is getting vast with each word spurted out from his mouth. He wants to go outside and yell to the world, that he finally got what he's been wishing for after thinking it was impossible. There is nothing that is impossible to Allah, just pray for the best.
"Well then, if we must. I can believe we are getting married in two months, Amir. I mean, me and you, seriously?" She closed her eyes with her hands in a shy way earning a loud laugh from Amir. He never expected that from her, she has never been shy of him not even when he caught them doing PDA with Mika'il.
"Allah plans, He is the best planner too. I should go talk to Dad so he can come talk to Aunt and Uncle. I'm I the only one excited about marrying you?" He pouted when she gave him a glare, she don't want to act all shy anymore and make their relationship awkward.
"Of course you are the only one then Anaan. Off you go now!" She smiled when he scratched his nape as if he doesn't know what to do next. Ah, he has never been in a relationship too and it weighed her down a little. He'll never get to experience all those things because of her.
As if on instinct, he gave her a quick hug then ran away, a scene that didn't escape the eyes of her mother who is desperately trying to keep her squeal inside because she's already pictures this happening right from the beginning of the story. She didn't know it was going to be more cuter but when Bushra bite her lower lip and blushed, she giggled quietly and left humming.
Mission accomplished...
-
"Why do you look like you have committed a grievous sin?" Mujaddad questioned his brother upon arriving at the military base where they are asked to pick out the new recruits amongst thousands, they only need two hundred. It's pure torture undergoing those trainings but that is not their duty, they are only there to supervise.
"Because I think or, the person I wronged feels like I committed grievous sin." He let out an exasperated breath then stare straight at a guy who is trying to cheat. There is nothing he hates like cheating because that was what almost got him suspended from the military years ago, someone framed him.
He stood up and took the guy by his shoulder and angrily threw him on the mudded floor where his lower lip split open. The guy is feeble, not fit enough to become a gateman talk less of a soldier and that is why he is cheating. Maybe he is also one of those rich folks children that think the government and country is theirs. They are sickeningly mistaken if they think they can escape him or his siblings. He is also proud that most their team are trustworthy and aren't corrupted.
"What's your name?" He questioned in that voice that makes most of the recruits shake, it always works for the juniors too. He's always had that voice ever since he joined military.
"Asif Mannir." And Mujaheed instantly knew who his father was because he is well known. He is the minister of finance, is that even a coincidence?
"Don't ever apply for this or I haunt you down!" He haul him up to stand in his feet then adjust his collar for the guy actually looks like those nerds and might not be at fault but his father. Mujaheed don't trust all those politicians, they are green snakes.
"Yes, Sir." He made a beeline out of the training ground and disappeared from sight while limping while the other recruits watch with keen interest and the others trying to do the same thing he did quit by themselves and made their way to the gates.
Ah, makes the work much more easier.
"You were talking about a sin earlier, what happened?" Mujaddad enquired again and this time around, they are lazing around in their living room back in their father's home. It was a tiring day watching those slothful rich kids trying to earn themselves space in military.
"I told you about Kauthar right? I went to her father earlier and seek for her hand in marriage but she got furious when I saw her earlier. I don't know, man, she said what I did was wrong and said some things..." He told him everything that has transpired between him and Kauthar when she came. He didn't remove anything from what happened in the restaurant too.
"You've messed up big time, man. What were you thinking cornering her up like this knowing she won't be able to turn down such proposal because of our family's connection?" Mujaddad shook his head, raking his hand through his hair as he thought about his time with Fayha when he came back from the special force.
"I was praying that you won't return but I guess fate is hellbent on intertwining us." She huffed, walking into the living room he was asked to wait for her. He could only smile at her words for he knew that that is not what her eyes are saying.
She is wearing Dijon layered skirt and alabaster shirt featuring wing neckline and cuff sleeves. Her feet are encased in Mary Jane slippers, a chiffon veil wrapped in a classic way around her. She looks as beautiful as always and if anything, she is glowing more than the last time he's seen her. He heard that they are doing this bride's beauty skin treatment along with his sister whom he found out she will be getting married again together with them.
"If I don't know any better, I'd think you missed me terribly. Isn't that so, ladybug?" He raise a brow, his eyes twinkling with mischief as she yawed her face to that look of disgust, it only brought a chuckle from his own lips. The woman is dramatic, she don't want to keep her weapons down but he will gladly help her do so. They have two months anyway.
"Then it should be that you missed me a lot during your stay at that desert but worry not, I didn't pray for you." And one thing he also understands about her when they are talking, she does the exact opposite of what she is saying just to keep her weapons hanging.
"Why, thank you so much, ladybug. Why do I feel like your prayers actually helped me come back and escape the claws of death?" He wiggled his brows and she narrowed her eyes then sip the watermelon mojito served to them by a maid. She don't want to talk serious but she has to.
"Whatever. How are you though? None of those bandits shoot your egoistic ass?" He sputtered out the mojito in his mouth to a handkerchief he quickly took off the table for hearing her say ass surprised him. She's never talked like that with him so she took him by surprise. It also looks like she did that intentionally because of the naughty smile she is featuring.
"I didn't know you were naught. You didn't tell me anything about that kinky side of yours but, I'll transform to a naughty me too. What say?" He continue to sip slowly so she won't take him by surprise again. You never know with this innocent looking woman that is fierce as ladybeetle.
"I was just testing you but you are the naughty one. Subhan' Allah, I'm a good girl and don't think about bad things like some ass Majors." He grinned wolfishly then let his eyes trail down her body but not in a sensual way, just a caress for her to feel his eyes on her. The way a fiancée does his soon to be wife, the awareness.
She shifted uncomfortably, clenching her fingers into a tight fist then thinned her lips so she won't say anything. If she opens her mouth to talk, she is going to sprout out nonsense that will make her look inferior in front of him, that is the last thing she wants to do. This Major will never let her love down to it if it ever happens, hence, she meandered her attention yo her mojito too.
"But you look naughty, dishy and sexy too." She gulped hearing him compliment her in such a way that makes her thigh clench by itself. This man is internationally trying to gouge out a bad reaction from her and she badly hopes she won't give him the satisfaction, she don't want to.
"Well, thanks. You can now go home and rest as I have appointment now." She does not have any appointment but she is definitely going to call the woman meant to bring her whole wedding outfit so she can give it to Bushra soon. Hearing about her sudden marriage makes her anxious, she don't want to disturb the lady's peace when she also needs to plan a wedding herself. She is sure her friend won't make her wedding grand though, it is not her first one.
"Are you sending me away now? Well, I have things to round up too, like our honeymoon location..." He trailed off, biting his lower lip in that sexy way that made choke on her own saliva. The guy is out of ordinary handsome, why the heck is he doing sexy things? To tease her again?!
"Yes, bye bye." She ran out of the parlour hearing his booming laughter behind her, she smiled too. She's sure she won't get a better husband than Mujaddad, not even Mujaheed could be perfect fit for him.
"What should I do?" Mujaheed's voice yanked him away from his reverie and he blinked, whoa, that woman is messing with his head even in her absence. Could he be in love with her already?
"You should probably apologize to her and tell her that your intentions weren't bad. And tame that your soldier side when you are with her, it turns them off, literally. Even I wouldn't have listened to you had you used those words to me like you did her." Mujaddad cringed, an act to tease his brother who only narrowed his eyes. His twin isn't helping him at all, apology won't help in Kauthar's case.
"I don't think my apology will work on her. She promised to make my life a living hell, I am wondering how she will be able to do that. I mean, I've been through a lot of hells during my time in the military as a trainee." He frowned cutely but his twin only laughed aloud at that. The guy don't know how evil women can be.
"Bro, I'm sorry to say but your life is going to end as soon as you get married. If a woman says she will make your life a living hell, then trust me, you are done for!" Mujaddad shuddered to scare his brother and it worked, Mujaheed became confused and slightly alarmed.
"She won't be able to hurt me physically, hmm?" He inclined his head innocently, he really doesn't know his fault there. He just made everything easier for them.
"Not physically but mentally, dude. I already pity you."
