Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Lucian's POV
"I was a waitress at a restaurant. I wasn't doing well...until I met Lucian. I know it doesn't sound believable but we fell in love, he would come to our restaurant all the time, just so he could see me.
We would even meet secretly, this has been going on for the past 9 months. I didn't like the fact that he was providing for me financially. I also wanted to foot my own bills, so I asked him if I could get a job at his office" She said with a sad look in her eyes, it just looked too convincing not to believe her.
"So, you didn't even merit the job?" The prosecuting lawyer questioned again.
"Objection my Lord. Again, he is going deep into her personal life. Thia particular question is in no way related to the case" My lawyer stood up, and I could tell that he too was as frustrated as I was.
"Objection sustained. Council, we do not need to know all that" The judge waved his hand in the air.
"What evidence does she have that she was even working at a restaurant? A high class one as that, which Mr Lucian would visit consistently" This lawyer was just too much. His questions were not just irritating, they were also making me angry.
I didn't know for how long I would be able to hold myself back, without punching him in the face, or breaking his hands.
Havana hurriedly searched her bag for something.
"This is my letter of employment. And this is a list of our top guests, when they came to our restaurant and how long they have been our loyal customers. You can check there, and you will see that me Lucian, was one of our loyal customers.'' She handed him a blue, thick fuel containing some documents.
An able-bodied man who was standing just close to the witness stand took it from her, and handed it over to the judge.
The judge went through everything carefully and handed the file back to the man.
"So why were you bleeding down your legs, when you were coming out of his office? And why were your clothes torn?" The lawyer questioned again.
"I was on my period, and I was putting on a leather blouse. The leather was fake as it melted, that was why he gave me his jacket. I didn't notice the blood until I walked out, and I was crying because I was ashamed" She looked down again, pressing her lips and playing with her fingers.
She looked so innocent when he did this, and if I was the judge I would probably believe everything she tells me.
"Is it true that Mr Lucian paid you to pull up this act? Answer us!" The prosecuting lawyer asked violently, as he made Havana shiver.
"No, he didn't please. I love him so much. That is all a misunderstanding, please just let him go" she cried, and looked at me with so much love.
I was in so much shock that I didn't know what I was supposed to say.
When did she rehearse all these, and also where did she get that guest list from?
"The court has heard enough. Mr Lucian, do you have any contradicting statements?" The judge asked and I replied no.
I mean, who in that right sense will contradict a miracle?
"With all the evidence and witnesses presented in this court today. The court hereby finds Me Lucian innocent" The case was dismissed, and just like that, the judge stood up from his seat.
Everyone was speechless, and I could see the sorry look on the faces of my employees, who had the guts to testify against me.
Havanna was still in character as she ran to hug me.
"I was so scared, I thought they would take you away from me" she cried, as she clung to me.
I hugged her back, and even k*ssed her on her forehead.
She didn't just convince the judge, she convinced everyone present, including the witnesses, and the prosecuting lawyer. I still can't believe that she managed to convince everyone that we are really in a relationship.
I held her hand, and our fingers were entwined, and we both walked out of the courtroom, looking like two love birds that just got together after a long time of separation.
Of course, the media was outside the courtroom. Just to make things more believable, I took off my jacket and covered her with it, while I shielded her from the crowd. I opened the car door for her and drove off.
It was so weird how things took a drastic turn. The ride back to my house was a silent one. I had so many questions to ask her, but where exactly did I want to start?
We arrived and she angrily opened the car door and stormed into the house. Was it the same lady who just confessed that she loves some more than anything?
"Thank you" I suddenly heard Nana say from behind me, she walked in so graciously with a smile on her face.
I knew it, I just knew that Havanna was too innocent to pull off such a stunt on her own. I knew that she had some kind of backup, but what I didn't know was who was backing her up.
"I have fulfilled my end of the bargain. You better make sure, she gets the best treatment. If my friend dies, then there could be trouble" Havanna was furious
Why was she acting so furious in the first place?
The moment my eyes met hers, I knew that I was not going to get any kind of answers from her. She wasn't going to say anything to me, no matter how little the information was.
I stared at Nana, who also walked out on me. Okay! I am either in another universe or I am still dreaming.
"What the hell is going on in this house!" I screamed out of joy.
Honestly, I didn't care about how Nana and Havana worked their way out of this situation.
I mean I did, and I planned to ask Nana later on.
But for now, I was just more than overjoyed.
