Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Edward went back home, feeling too empty, used and at the same time, scared.
" I shouldn't have lost my tempter like that". He scolded himself, but it was too late for him to blame himself. All what he thought he had under control, just slipped from him. He was still thinking of what to do next, when Sandra called his line. Apparently, she had seen the news online, the image of Craig and Samantha hugging had gone viral, it was everywhere, as people had one thing or the other to say about them, and they were all good things.
Some are saying, she must have been a really good teacher to him, in the past, which made him fall inlove with her, and has come to rescue her from her evil husband. They all had something bad to say about Edward.
"What the hell happened, I thought you said you had a plan, and that she was going to be with you for at least five years? He listened with a pained heart to her nagging, but he didn't have an answer for her.
Aren't you going to say something? She asked again, but this time, irritated at her harsh tone, which isn't what he needed at the time, he ended the call, while she kept staring at her phone, before going back to the news.
She isn't going to have him, I will make sure of that. She cannot carry another man's child and still want to have Craig, she have been hoping to have all her life! She says, because, the world still doesn't know that she is actually carrying Craig Anderson's baby.
Edward didn't know what to do, his carrier as a pediatrician will be ruined soon, if any other person, learns of what he did with Jane, so this time, even though he loves Samantha, and wishes to bring her back, he needs to end her life, for she is the one that could end his life, just by saying one thing out loud.
With a mixed feeling, unsure of what to do, he soon found himself in an imaginary world, where Joe walked in on them, with Samantha close to her, he jumped off the bed, and was trying to explain to Joe, that it isn't what he thinks, but he didn't want to hear him out, he just brought out a gun and shot him in the forehead, which sent him down immediately. Before he finally closed his eyes to death, he sees Samantha laughing at him mockingly. It was when he snapped out of his imagination that he realized he was sleeping in his hospital, he didn't even know how he got there, but then the door swung open, and Joe walked in, with a smile.
"Hey buddy, I finally found out what happened to Jane". He says, when Edward looked up again, Samantha was behind Joe smiling and just like before, he brought his gun out to shoot him, he screamed out, and finally woke up on his bed in the house.
It has all been an imagination, but then his phone started ringing, he took it, and it was Joe calling. He had to pinch himself severally to be sure he wasn't imagining things again.
"Hey Ed, are you okay? He heard his concerned voice, when he punched the green signal.
"I am okay. Why wouldn't I be? He asked.
"Hey man, with what is happening online, and the news about you loosing your company, I just thought I should reach out". He paused, and Edward also didn't say anything, he wanted to be sure, that he is still safe. Anyways, I am coming over later, I need to see you.
He added and though Edward wanted to tell him that he didn't have to bother about coming, he couldn't find his voice, till he ended the call and an hour later, he was at his house.
"You really didn't have to". He says, opening the door to him, so he walks in, but he was looking above his shoulders, scared that somehow, he must have found out about Jane.
"You are my best friend, and I know I introduced you to do dirty jobs, but you are still my best friend. You have kept my secrets for so long, and I will ride and die with you. Women are and have always been a problem in this life, and that is why I never gave another woman a chance since Jane left". He says and he looked up at him.
"Samantha is pregnant with Craig's child, and she says she loves him, so if she loves him, I guess I will have to give up trying".
"That is what I have been trying to tell you all this while, you don't have to be with her if she doesn't want you, and besides, you never really liked her, not even when you married her. You always told me you wish Jane had a sister, and I was thinking you would end up with a brunette like Jane". Edward looked up again, and then looked back down. He didn't like the way the talk was going, he needed to change the topic, but he was too scared, as soon as Joe placed his hands in his back pocket, he raised his hands, shocking Joe, who was only reaching out for his phone.
What did they do to you? Why are you so scared? He asked, but Edward only shook his head, saying his head was spinning.
What would you like me to do to for you? Edward heard Joe asking. He didn't have to ask what he means, Joe was ready to play dirty for him, if that is what he really wants, and still take the fall for it.
"I love her Joe, even if she doesn't love me, she is the mother of my daughter, and I love them both, seeing her happy, should be enough for me". He says.
"Then you have to snap out of this thing you are doing. You need to brace up and get back to business. There is a new business in town, it could replace all you lost in a day, come by the jungle later, and I will give you all the details". He says, while he gets up, taps his shoulder, and walked away. Edward heaved a sigh of relief, before closing his eye, to sleep.
