Chapter 30: Chapter 30

As soon as he was gone, she broke down and wept bitterly, but the sharp pain below her abdomen was still there, and it was really intense, that she couldn't explain if it was due to the news she heard or something else. She was still in tears, when the doctor walked back in.

"Your results are ready". He says, and she collected it, trying to hide her teary face.

"Are you okay Mrs Samantha? The doctor asked, for he had noticed she was crying. Sam, didn't want to explain the story of her life to a total stranger, so she lied.

"I feel a terrible pain below my abdomen, and I just cannot help but tear up". but the doctor smiles knowingly.

"Oh! that is not a problem at all, I have told the nurses to give you something for the pain. The pain is as a result of the baby". He says and she looked up at him, confused.

"What baby? She asked, still looking confused.

"I know you didn't know, but you are three weeks pregnant Mrs Samantha. Congratulations". Samantha etched, winced, and almost screamed, but somehow, she knew she needed to think it through over and over again, before the best reaction will naturally surface.

The doctor, thinking he just gave her a great news, smiles, and walked away. It was only after she heard the door slammed against her thought, that she stared at the envelope in her hand, she opened it, and confirmed what the doctor just told her, and that was when she screamed.

"No, No, No. This cannot be happening to me". She says, and she began crying all over again. She looked beside her, and she was all alone. The feeling was worse than whatever it is she went through five years ago. She looked up and cursed the day she was born. She have never had a day of peace, and just when she thought she have reached the last stage of her suffering, it started again.

"Am I really pregnant for Craig? She asked out loud, touching her stomach, still lost in thought as her tears wouldn't stop flowing.

Her phone kept blinking, she was getting messages, and calls, but she couldn't even look at her phone. She had planned to just stay around, get a job, and continue her life, but now, she will have to move, she will move far away from him, she will move to where he will never find her.

She will change her identity, and she will try and get a job. She should be able to take care of her children alone.

She knows that the baby is going to remind her everyday of Craig, and how much he hurt her, but she will keep it from him, and make sure, he never finds out about her pregnancy.

She knows that Craig is going to want to follow her, but she needs to outsmart him.

It was pointless crying. This was her fate, she needs to face it, and see how far it takes her. She took her phone, and dialed one of the numbers that had been calling her. It was Mary. She wanted to know what the problem is, since she had seen all that happened. Samantha briefed her over the phone, but told her she could stay back and work for Craig if she wants, but she is going to move with her daughter, to a place far away, but surprisingly. Mary says, she is willing to go anywhere with them, but she was careful, not to tell her about her pregnancy. She also told her that Whitney was back and upon hearing that they were moving, she had been crying. The both of them soon spoke to her on the phone, telling her they would meet her up at the hospital to support her, and an hour later, they were at the hospital, and Craig was with them again, but seeing him, only infuriated Samantha, that she started to scream, that Craig had no choice than to leave again.

That same night, Samantha was discharged, she found herself a hotel, the three shared a room and very early the next day, they moved.

She travelled with her family by public transport, to a place she didn't plan to go.

Her parents home town, it was a very underdeveloped area, which lacked many amenities, she was thinking the place was still as bad as she remembers, but when they got there, she was surprised that it has developed very well, and there were so many things that have been added to make the place more of a city. She noticed that there were companies, and so many people, even Whitney that had been so gloomy, raised her head and looked outside happily, enjoying the sight that she was looking at.

She got to her parents home town, and entered their house. She wanted to come here when the scandal first broke out, but her parents had been so angry with her, that they warned her not to, but four years ago, she was told that they had an accident which took their lives, she had to leave her hiding place to come and bury them. She would live in their house, away from Edward and Craig. She would start her life all over again.

The few persons that knew her, came to welcome her, she was also happy to be home.

Whitney didn't look too sad, for the house wasn't so bad, but from time to time, she still asks about Craig.

Some of the villagers even came to help them clean up, making their work easier. They met a lot of new faces and their closest neighbours brought them cookies to welcome them.

Whitney was very happy, when she saw that the neighborhood had kids she could be friends with and off course, play with, She have never had any friend before.

And though she couldn't understand why her mother needed them to leave a castle, she knows that she was in no place to question their decision.

The very next week, she was registered to a new school in the neighborhood, and her mother also got herself a job as a supervisor, in one of the companies, which was surprising to her, because she wasn't asked so much questions, she was just given the job, as if they have been waiting for her to come around and get the job. And fortunately, it was around the area. Life seem to be smiling on her again, but the next month, she went through different pregnancy sickness, which was hardly noticed by Whitney, except Mary, who could see clearly, that she was with child.
