Chapter 136: Chapter 136

Hearing that someone was going around the village with her picture in hand, shows that they already know that she didn't die as expected, and they want to come and finish what they had started.

She forgot all about hunger, the piece of bread Dylan had given her, is enough to help her through the night, she needed to leave the house. She managed to drop her legs on the floor, she stood upright, and then looked Vicky and Dylan in the eye, before speaking.

"Thank you all so much, but I really need to leave". She says, looking for something to cover her body with.

"I am sorry, but you cannot leave yet, because if you do, you will breakdown on the road, there is a potion I forced into your mouth, while you were still asleep, if you don't allow it stay for 24 hours at a place, it will break you down". She explains, she too was as scared, she didn't want any of what she is seeing, she had told her brother many times to mind his business, but he is never going to obey, he will always go out and bring her something to be worried about.

"I cannot stay here, if I stay here, he will come back and he will find me here and kill me, that would be the end". She tries to explain how urgent it is for her to leave the house.

"Why do they want you dead? Vicky asked. Juliet could not tell where the strength have come from, but she was ready, and very prepared to run as fast as her legs could carry her, just to survive, but she knew it would be best to follow the instructions of Vicky the medicine woman, but still with wisdom, she doesn't have to let them know her plans.

She looked around the house, and noticed that the roof of the house was opened, and someone could hide safely there, she thought of hiding there, only after she sees a ladder, she decided to take her time, and tell them all they needed to know.

Telling them the story of her life, she didn't rule out the part that she had wanted to get money out of Sandra for her silence, but she also explains her repentance, that now she had realized that keeping such a person safe, just because of what she plans to get from her, was a big mistake, it only means that she was encouraging her to do worse things.

She was in tears by the time she was done talking. The door remained locked throughout that afternoon. Vicky prepared white soup for them and the three of them ate heartily. Juliet was already thinking of all the good things she could do for them with whatever it is she has, if she ever gets out of this alive.

They had just finished eating and were talking, when they heard a knock on the door.

It was already passed 6pm, they were not expecting anyone, they never get visitors, the only people that come to visit, are those that needs help from his sister, Juliet had already gotten up and ready to run. Vicky showed her where to hide, while Dylan, being the man, went to get the door.

He found a strange looking man at the door, he didn't need anyone telling him that the man is the same man his sister had spoken of, he had a picture in hand, and asked the same question.

"Please I am a police man undercover, I am looking for this lady, her life might be in danger, if you have seen her, please tell me". Dylan sized him from head to toe, he didn't look anything like a servant of the law, and he smells of hard drugs. He also didn't have any badge to show, he was just speaking without evidence.

"I haven't seen that face before". He says, and is about to shut the door, when he stopped him.

"Can I come in? He asked, and even though Dylan is in the village, he isn't dumb, and he is only there, because of a secret. They will surface when the time is due.

He held on to the door, looked him in the eye firmly and asked for his search warrant, which he was not able to provide, so he slammed the door against his face, and locked it up, going back to them, he noticed that they had both hidden, he didn't call them out, for he suspects that the man might still be around the area, maybe trying to listen if he would converse with anyone.

He didn't say anything for almost an hour, even when they finally came out of their hiding place, they were whispering.

After making sure that they had locked everywhere, they went to bed, but Juliet didn't go to bed, she had already started feeling dizzy, which must be the effect of the potion Vicky talked about, she knows that she might loose her consciousness soon, so she decided to use the last strength she has, to make her way to the roof, and that was where she slept comfortably.

An hour later, they heard a bang on the door, and all they had used as wage, fell off to the ground, as a man on hood entered, searching everywhere frantically.

Dylan was so shocked, that he kept looking around for Juliet, but since he couldn't see her anywhere, he believes that she must have escaped somehow.

The man tied him to a chair, and forced his sister to speak, but she was too loyal to a fault, she kept saying she never saw the face before.

He decided that it must be true, because if they had seen her, with the way he had threatened them, they would have said something, he didn't harm them, he just left, with the plan that he would give Sandra a fake news, that the entire village is talking, about a young girl that was devoured by a wild animal, and that her description, matches that of Juliet, just so that he could get the rest of his balance, and flee, to somewhere far away, before the truth ever comes out.
