Chapter 20: Chapter 20

24 years ago...

We both got married. Our marriage was arranged by your grandmother. We were very happy after the wedding. I was teaching zoology in college, and your dad used to work in the archaeology department. One day it was reported that the remains of a different animal had been found in a distant forest. Your dad was going to collect it. I thought I should see that too. At first your father stops me but then very stubbornly I went with your father and that was our biggest mistake.

We took the jeep into the woods. We went deep into the forest. When we reached that place, we saw that the remains were of a giant animal like a fox. There was so much to research on it. Your father began to collect it with care. I also took samples of it without anyone knowing. It was getting late in the evening. As the road was rough we were slowly trying to get out of the woods.

On the way back home, there was a loud bang on our jeep. Your dad stopped the car and he went out, I suddenly saw the shadow of a man behind who attacked your dad. As I went out, he approached me and drank my blood. But he didn't kill us, but he took the collected samples and left us with hypnotizing us. But when we became vampire hunters, we remembered all this.

The next day we were both in the hospital. We didn't even know that who had admitted us there. We both came home with our little memories. Your grandmother was at home. Within a couple of days, I began to notice changes in my body, in that your dad woke up screaming at night and got scars on his hands. Immediately this happened to me too. With our voice, your grandmother came to us and she told us the history of her family. For who we are we made for? What is our goal?

There are very few vampire hunters left today. There was a lot at that time. In our time a lot of weird vampires killed many vampire hunters. We had to spend a lot of days in hiding. After that I was pregnant. We were a little happy that you were born without a mark on your hand. But that happiness ended in a moment.  I had to put a stone on my heart and keep you with Lucy. Because in front of us was the question of your future. Kate, when we become a hunter, our appetite for killing vampires increases. And the gift we received becomes a curse. We've both killed many bad vampires. But then it started to feel like a curse because we have killed some innocent vampires too.

In the last few years, we have come to realize that we can become ordinary people by removing this mark. His medicine is there somewhere in the world. We searched for it a lot.

Kate asked curiously "So??? What happened? Did you got???"

Kate's father showed her his hand... The mark was nowhere. Kate's mother too showed her hand... It was not on her hand also.

“That means you were successful, Mom and Dad??” Her eyes filled with tears. Her parents hugged her back.

Kate asked them back, "But what if someone attacks you now?????

Her dad started saying "nothing will happen to us, we are safe" saying that he showed a new carved mark on his back.

“What is this dad?” Kate asked him.

He replied, “In this world some good witches are also there. This mark is meant to protect against vampires. By the time we kill some vampires, we've made new enemies. Now we are back just for you ... will you forgive us Kate??”

Her mother handed her a small bottle. The substance in it was completely black and red. Kate asked, “What is this??”

Her mother replied, "We knew you would be a vampire hunter sooner or later. And you don't want that curse. So this is the same nectar that made us human again. In that there is no problem for us if you don’t want to hear us. But in the future when you need it. Keep it with you”

Kate's mother moved her hand on her head lovingly, Kate was emotional. She was sitting between them, hugging them.  Just then her mother asked her, "What happened with you?"

She told them the truth. Except of her kiss with Aaron.  How can she say that?

After hearing what had happened, Kate's father began to say to her, "Kate, you already know the reality of this world before we tell you. We want to meet them all. You call them; I have information of their work ...."

As soon as she got her father's order, she called Laura and asked everyone to come home. The ark was also there. For that, everyone needed to meet Kate.

Here Aaron had reached home. He met all his old friends. When Lily came forward he just have hand shake with her and walked away. Laura asked him, “where is Kate?”

Aaron didn’t pay any attention to her, he told everyone about Kate's bravery. He was very proud to tell everyone and in the meanwhile Oliver spoke, "Are you in love with her???

Aaron was very embarrassed ... he started smiling... Oscar came and started teasing him ... everyone understood what they wanted to understand, Lily left with anger.

Charles asked him, “Aaron, Where is that ark?? And where is Kate??

Aaron replied, “Oh, she is at home  ... She will come here.”

Just then Laura got a call and everyone knew they had to go there now. Flora, Aaron, Charles, Laura, went to Kate's house. Oliver, Oscar, Lily said we will come along.

Kate's house...

Everyone got there in the next half hour after the call. Kate opened the door and called everyone inside. Kate's parents were sitting in front. They got acquainted with everyone. When Lily said...

"So ... this is Kate?? I don't see anything special in her. Aaron, are you talking about her only??"

Hearing this, everyone started looking at her with a little hesitation and Aaron came forward, told her to be quiet, he looked at Kate and said sorry. She looked at him and smiled. She avoided Lily completely and told everyone else about her parents. Later everyone found out that her parents knew about the last piece of that sword.

Now Flora's curiosity was heightened. She went straight to Kate's father. She started asking questions about it. Kate's father told them,

"When I was in the archaeological department, we found a different snake-shaped stick in the ground. It had a sign that it was eating another snake. It disappeared suddenly that night on the day it was found. I found out what it was after becoming a vampire hunter... Everybody said it was just a story but I always thought it would be true. Flora you know where it is??? "

Flora nodded, “No, no one knows where the stick has been since the day it disappeared.”

Kate said to him, “Dad, someone has taken that stick, so of course there may be a clue somewhere.”

Flora said, “What am I for?? I was just waiting for this box. That was the sword, right? We can find out where the other part of it is. Kate, bring the ark.”

Kate went and brought it... She tried to open it; and it didn't open. Everyone started trying one by one but the box didn't open after doing everything. At last the time of Aaron came. He looked carefully at the ark. He turned it upside down and saw a small gold stick stuck in it. He took the stick out of there and the box open automatically. Out of it came only a sword with a certain carving and pattern but it has blackened. As soon as he touched it, something suddenly appears in front of his eyes that the gates of hell would open and the devil would come out and he got lost in it.
