Chapter 43: Chapter 43
In Liam's room Celeste was looking through her luggage for her medicine. She was sure she had packed them all but for some unknown reason she couldn’t find those in her bags. She again carefully looked through her every single clothes but still nothing. She heaved a sigh and threw the clothes on the bed.
"Where have I put those?" She mumbled to herself.
"Are you looking for these?" A deep voice came from behind startling Celeste completely. Celeste put her hands on her chest before turning around to look at the person.
"Liam! You scared me. Wait! Is that my medicine? What are you doing with them? Give them back to me." Celeste exclaimed when she noticed the medicine she was looking for the past half an hour was on Liam's hand. For a moment Celeste became scared as she feared Liam might find out what those medicines were for.
Those were her anti depression and sleeping pills.
"You are not having them back Celeste." Liam said while moving towards her.
"What do you mean?" Celeste asked with a scowl.
"You are pregnant and these might harm the baby." Liam said in a gentle voice making Celeste realise what she was about to do. She was going to put her baby's life in danger unknowingly.
"How do you know about my medicine Liam? Are you spying on me?" Celeste asked while crossing her arms. She noticed Liam heaved a sigh!
"We need to talk, Celeste. A real talk." Liam said while looking straight at Celeste's eyes.
"What do we need to talk about?" Celeste asked, a little confused. Liam again sighed and ran his fingers through his hair to calm himself. He then took a deep breath and looked at Celeste with his deep smokey grey eyes making Celeste's heartbeat quicken.
"We need to talk about what happened with us in the past year." Liam said in one go. He carefully looked at Celeste's expression which turned to blank when she processed his words.
"No. We have nothing to talk about." She said in a flat voice before making her way towards the exit to leave Liam's room.
"Liam stopped her by holding her left arm and turned her to face him. He then made her look directly at him.
"We have. I have many things to confess to you, Celeste. You know I hate arguing. I'm being serious. We need a real talk like two adults. So you need to stop being stubborn and listen to me." Liam said in a deep commanding voice. His voice was clean and sounded very mature making Celeste feel like she was a child throwing tantrums. Celeste sighed and nodded. Liam let go of her arms and took a step back. They both then took a seat on the sofa placed in the room.
"Okay. Tell me what you want to say?" Celeste asked while leaning on the sofa. She didn’t understand what Liam wanted to talk about ? Maybe about their divorce. Who knew?
"When my parents informed me about marrying an unknown girl, I didn’t object because that was my grandma's wish. I didn’t have any plan to marry but I wanted to honour her last wish. So I asked my lawyer to prepare a contract. After a few days I met you. I didn’t know why but I liked you at my first glance. You were like a cute country bumpkin who attracted me instantly-'' Liam paused in between when he noticed Celeste frowning at him hearing the word country bumpkin. He chuckled a bit before continuing.
"-I wanted to inform you about the contract earlier but then I didn’t know why I didn’t. I didn’t want you to back off so I brought the contract to you on our wedding day. I thought you would be angry and refuse to sign the contract but you proved me wrong by signing the contract with only one sentence. Then throughout our marriage I didn’t know why I was getting very attached to you. I was afraid you didn’t feel the same. I was afraid you would want to hold onto the marriage of convenience. You were always so talkative, clumsy and stubborn. I hated people who talked too much, I hated stubborn people and I hated clumsy people more. But eventually I got used to it. I found it entertaining when it was you. Slowly a year passed and I didn’t even realise. I have been working on expanding our company to the USA for the past three years. It was my dream. I didn’t want to give up. Also it wasn’t possible to bring you with me as I knew you wouldn’t leave your Job and Grandma alone. After thinking for a few days I took the stupidest decision of my life. I decided to end our marriage as per our contract. Honestly speaking I thought our anniversary went on the previous day when you were in Elora. I didn’t realise it until I went home and found you planned a surprise for me. But it was too late. The flight was two days later and I have no choice but to talk to you about that. But when I told you about that, you didn’t object so I thought you didn’t really mind. You were behaving completely normal and even asked to sign the contract earlier. After you signed the contract and left for Elora I went to the USA on the very same day living everything on my lawyer." Liam stopped talking and looked at Celeste who was looking down. She didn’t say anything just kept listening to him silently.
"Why aren’t you saying anything? " Liam asked while holding Celeste's hands. Celeste looked up at him and smiled.
"What should I tell you Liam? What? Do you really want to hear me?" Celeste asked with a bitter smile making Liam sigh.
"Yes. I want to hear you." Liam simply said while holding her hands tightly in his.
