A gentle summer breeze rustled the curtains, letting the last rays of the evening sun filter into the room.
Ellen's eyes fluttered open. She stared at the unfamiliar ceiling for a moment, then shot upright, her gaze darting around the room, instantly on alert. But this wasn't the terrifying battlefield she remembered. It was a strange, yet cozy, bedroom.
'I was... in a battle, wasn't I? Where is this?'
Confused, she rose and walked to the window. Outside, the sunset painted the sky in brilliant colors. In the villa's courtyard, a cherry blossom tree shed its petals in the wind. The scene was so peaceful it felt unreal.
'Westcott is dead. DEM is gone. And I'm... all alone.'
A profound sense of loneliness washed over her, a heavy weight settling in her chest.
Suddenly, a cloyingly sweet giggle cut through her melancholy. She turned from the window just in time to see a small figure scampering joyfully up the stairs.
Even from the back, Ellen recognized Yoshino immediately. When she looked toward the living room, she froze. Kyoya was there, watching her with a lazy, knowing smile.
'Him? So this is...?'
The memory of the battle from three days agoβof her own crushing defeatβcame flooding back.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, my voice calm and casual.
My concerned tone threw her off completely.
She was utterly lost. 'Did he... save me?'
Taking a deep breath, Ellen forced herself to calm down. "Did you save me?"
"You could say that," I said with a nod, walking toward her. I looked her up and down, a faint smile playing on my lips. "Ratatoskr has completely taken over DEM. Westcott's finished. You're out of a job."
"Tch... Ratatoskr..." Ellen's fists clenched. Weren't they the ones behind the attack? Damn it. So she's unemployed now?'
She quickly composed herself, reverting to her cool demeanor and giving a stiff bow. "I apologize for the trouble I've caused."
"Aha..." I said, my voice laced with amusement.
"Don't tell me you're planning on going after Ratatoskr. I'd give that up if I were you. Your CR-Unit is sealed. What can you possibly do? Besides," I added, my smile widening, "don't think I don't know your little secrets. You're completely inept physically. You need a kickboard to swim, and your hundred-meter dash is 21.5 seconds. You're a total klutz."
Not only did I know her most embarrassing secrets, but I was openly mocking her for them. Ellen's face flushed a deep, alluring red, and she bristled like an angry cat.
"Hahaha, alright, I'll stop teasing you."
I chuckled, then casually took her hand. "Look, it's over. You've lost. There's no coming back from this."
Ellen bit her lip, her expression complicated as she looked up at me. "Are you with Ratatoskr?"
"No. But one of the kids in my house is, so you could say we're partners." I paused, my gaze turning serious. "You're right to be suspicious. The ones who destroyed DEM... I sent them. And I specifically ordered them to spare your life. But don't get the wrong idea,"
"It has nothing to do with your sister. I just didn't want you to die."
I ignored her fierce, kitten-like glare, my expression turning playful. "In any case, you're my prisoner now. You'll stay here until I say otherwise."
Before she could react, I swept her up into a princess carry.
"Eh!? What... what are you doing!?"
"Y-You... I'm warning you, don't try anything funny!"
I completely ignored her feeble threat, leaning in and planting a firm, unapologetic kiss on her cheek.
"So soft," I murmured. "Alright, you'll be staying here for now. Your official story is that you're a homeless runaway."
"I will not," she retorted, though the blush on her face betrayed her attempt at defiance.
"If you don't behave," I purred, my voice dropping to a low, dangerous whisper, "I'll get you pregnant."
"Wh-wh-what!? N-No, you can't! Absolutely not..." Ellen's head shot up, her face crimson.
"Hmph. And why not?" I leaned in, pinning her against the wall and tilting her chin up so she had no choice but to meet my gaze. "Don't forget, you're my prisoner."
A wicked smile spread across my face. "Just imagine it. A busty, clueless beauty becomes a prisoner. Don't you think I should try to get her pregnant?"
Ellen's mouth hung open as she stared at me, my unique scent and the feeling of my touch overwhelming her senses. She was completely speechless.
'Oh god! What do I do? Is he really going to lock me up and get me pregnant? Should I fight back? But I can't win! He's so strong... if I can't handle it, will I die? Waaah... I never should have listened to Westcott.'
Her face grew hotter until it felt like steam was about to pour from the top of her head. Her beautiful violet eyes began to spin, and her entire body went limp, melting like a puddle.
I was completely baffled. I gave her limp form a little shake. "Hey, Ellen, what's wrong? I was just kidding!"
But no matter what I said, she was like a broken doll, her body just swaying back and forth with my movements.
When Ellen finally came to, a certain... unequal verbal agreement was reached. In effect, she had sold herself to me. She just turned her head away.
She was surely thinking, 'It's not like I have a choice. I'm trapped here, and I can't beat him. I have to agree.'
I pushed open the door to the room she'd be staying in and glanced around.
"Don't worry," I said with a low chuckle. "As long as you're a good girl, I promise I won't bully you. Okay?"
She gave a resigned nod.
But she couldn't possibly imagine just how thoroughly I was going to bully her in the days to come.
