Chapter 78: Chapter 78
'I think I'll be cooking a meal on Sunday. Tell me what you want to eat; I'll prepare it for you.' I typed and sent a text to Arya as soon as I got into my room.
Arya had told me to cook for her as a form of appreciation, but because I'd been busy, I was unable to. Now that I had the chance to cook, I decided to pay Arya back.
'Really? Great! I've been craving it for a long time.' Arya sent immediately with a smiling emoji.
I chuckled at Arya's exaggerated response. How can she crave what she hasn't eaten before? What if I don't know how to cook in the first place? So dramatic!
'I'll be there tomorrow! Love you.' Arya texted again.
'Ok, we'll go to the market tomorrow.' I texted and left Arya's chat interface.
I quickly tapped on the forum, intending to upload the video Rex had sent to me, so I could clear my name.
Surprisingly, numerous messages flooded my account as soon as I logged into the forum.
My brows knitted in confusion, yet I tapped on the official Power Axis Pack account, having a premonition in mind.
Just as I expected, the official Power Axis Pack had just uploaded a post involving me.
Surprisingly, the uploaded post was the same thing Rex had just sent to me, and it was captioned: Everything is just and fair.
My lips parted in shock. Incredible! For me, the Werewolf Alpha and the Vampire Lord came to an agreement! Isn't that great?
Thankfully, that stinky Oswald cooperated this time without coming over to trouble me.
Thinking about Oswald, should I feel relieved that I haven't caught a glimpse of him ever since the trial day? I'm hoping that stuck-up jerk isn't planning something crazy.
I suppressed my chaotic thoughts and began to read the comments.
Some people are just stupid. Of course, Alpha had made such trials to make things not easy for Maia; can't you see the hard work she put in? She didn't even take a rest during the night—after school until before school resumed. No wonder, she isn't concerned with your opinions and protests.
I don't believe something isn't fishy. Who's shooting this video? How can they suddenly have such types of videos? It's as if they've been planning it for a long time. Ever since Maia came into our pack, things have been going awfully.
You're the awful one. Can't I even take a video of mine without a purpose?
Maia, baby. I love you. I'm your number one fan forever. Can I come forward to propose to you?
Upstairs, if you're not afraid of the whole beta family's ire, then you can propose to her tomorrow.
What ire? Didn't you hear Maia say her mate was dead? She's probably grieving by now. I don't believe she and Beta Wyatt have such a relationship.
Knock Knock.
“Young miss, dinner is ready; come down to eat.” The soft voice of a lady, accompanied by a knock on my door, distracted my reading and attracted my attention.
Oh. There's a maid in the mansion? My eyes widened slightly at the thought, and I sat up in anticipation.
I've been wanting to know who the maid was, and I've finally gotten the chance.
Quickly, I got down from the bed and made my way toward the door. “Sure. I'll be right there.” I calmly replied and opened the door immediately.
Surprisingly, I couldn't catch a trace of the woman who had just spoken a word; even after I found myself sitting opposite Wyatt, I never caught a glimpse of her. How interesting!
Seeing how fast the person was, I wondered if she was a maid and a trained fighter as well. Considering the type of person Wyatt was, I couldn't help but agree with my thoughts.
I nodded to Wyatt in greeting, and he also did the same in return. I clasped my hands together and stared at Wyatt eagerly. “Wyatt, I want to cook on Sunday, can I?”
Since Wyatt owns the mansion, I decided to ask his permission before doing anything. Moreover, he doesn't like seeing me work, and I'm afraid that he could disagree at the last minute.
Wyatt leaned back and tapped on the table rhythmically. He raised his head and stared at me with glazed eyes. “You won't if I disagree?” He retorted in a calm voice.
I could see that Wyatt knew my mind was made up. Nevertheless, his questions were posed to let him know if I'd agree or refuse if he gave me his answers.
I shrugged lackadaisical and raised my head to meet his gaze. Even if Wyatt rejects me from cooking in his kitchen, I'll go over to someone else's place to cook. “I will. I will find another kitchen.” I replied sincerely.
Wyatt snorted immediately. With his gaze, I could see him asking why I was asking for permission if my mind was already made up. He nodded his head once in agreement with my request and picked up his clean cutlery.
I beamed joyfully. “Thank you. Do you have any meal preferences for Sunday?” I inquired curiously, my hands clasped together and my feet gently swinging under the table.
Wyatt paused his movement and eyed me immediately. The meaning of his gaze was apparent: what strength do I have to make such a large amount of food on that day?
I gnashed my teeth together. I wasn't that weak. “Don't look down on me. Back then, I was the one in charge of cooking the whole pack's…” I stiffened upon recalling that I'd almost let out my past to Wyatt.
I cleared my throat, feigned a nonchalant smile, and waved my hand in the air while pretending to be calm. “Never mind. If you want something, tell me.” I hurriedly conveyed to him and picked up my cutlery.
Without waiting for Wyatt's response, I lowered my head and hurriedly began to eat my meal.
I kept feeling Wyatt's deep gaze on me with every spoonful I took, yet Wyatt never said anything, which made me feel more jittery and awkward. It can't be that Wyatt had begun to suspect my identity, can it?
The thoughts sent a shiver down my spine, and I felt my appetite vanish.
