Chapter 69: Chapter 69
Before I stepped into the forest, I caught sight of Nancy looking in between relief and bewilderment. Nancy is expecting me to not be found with the pill, so I could be weakened by it, yet she still wanted me to be caught by Oswald, so I could be kicked out. She can't make up her mind at all!
Thinking of Oswald, I couldn't help gritting my teeth in annoyance. That jerk is really shameless and has no sense of decency.
He could even assault me in front of the crowd; what wouldn't he do later on?
Oswald has a partner he cares for and protects, but he won't bully her.
However, whenever he needs to vent, it's the same me who he wanted to kick out that he'd come after to bully. That bastard really doesn't know what he wants! He's a bipolar, stuck-up jerk!
I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. I mustn't lose my calm all because of that crazy fellow. No, I mustn't!
In the face of a battle, one's state of mind must be extremely calm, especially at a time like this.
Although I've won the fight with the rogues under Rex's gaze, that has simply been sparring, unlike now.
Even though I wanted to leave, I had to win that money and face-slap those people who had been talking and betting nonsense!
I was about to make my way toward the sparring ground, Rex, and I normally used to see if I'd catch traces of rogues, but before I could, I caught sight of a description board that had a red arrow drawn on it.
Immediately, I realized that the arrows were meant to lead me toward the fighting ground, so I followed them to the side of the forest I had never explored before.
Except for the part of the forest Rex and I usually train in, I haven't explored the forest at all.
I was on alert, and my senses were extremely focused with every step I took in case a danger suddenly sprang up on me.
Soon, the description board that had arrows drawn on it came to a stop in front of a large grassy field that stretched for 3000 meters.
In the grassy field were 30 restrained mid-level rogues who had their backs turned to me.
Suddenly the rogues turned, and their blank eyes fell on me as if they had just perceived my presence.
My brows furrowed slightly, and I couldn't help taking a step back, feeling that something was wrong.
Unlike the normal rogues I had always fought in Rex's presence, these rogues had extremely pale skin, dead eyes, and weird veins running from their faces to their toes. They were dressed in tattered clothes, and they looked bloodthirsty, like an unfeeling killing machine.
Immediately, I realized that this set of rogues had been experimented with and upgraded.
I couldn't help shivering in fear at the realization. I took a step back and clenched my fist in anger. That damn Oswald, he's a damn schemer.
I was actually interested in having a proper fight, but now I'm done! He's very crazy! I turned toward the direction I had just come from, choosing to flee.
Suddenly, a huge iron cage was thrown down on the thirty rogues and me, sealing my path to leave.
Although I wanted to flee so I could make the fight chaotic by leading the rogues into different corners and fighting them one by one, now I couldn't.
I could only stay and fight with the 30 medium-ranked rogues together.
The rogues snarled and stretched their bodies hungrily and enigmatically while making their way toward me.
I hurried toward the door and banged it twice in a bid to escape, but it wouldn't even budge. My eyes reddened with fury, and my jaw ticked in indignation. "Gosh, if I ever get out of here alive, I'm going to rip that jerk into pieces. I swear to the moon goddess."
I took a deep breath and tried to calm my chaotic thoughts. I narrowed my eyes and balled my fist.
"Act as if you're sparring. Act as if Rex is present. Act as if these are normal rogues you're fighting with." I slowly chanted while taking a deep breath.
Soon, I recovered my calmness, and I got into one of the fighting stances Rex had taught me. I made my way toward the nearest rogues and expertly threw a punch that was secretly meant to swipe at the rogue's hearts.
Upon seeing my punch, the rogue gave me what seemed like a creepy smile.
He grabbed my punch easily and used my hand to lift me into the air before throwing me away fiercely.
PUCHI!
My back crashed on the iron cage immediately, and I fell onto the floor, spitting out blood immediately.
My hand flew toward my back, and I sucked in a cold breath, my eyes stinging due to unshed tears.
It's hopeless. These aren't normal rogues. They're just like killing machines. How will I...
Before I could complete my thoughts, the rogue lifted me again and raised me far, down to his back.
I quickly used that chance to loop my arms around the rogue's neck in a bid to strangle it!
The rogue's hands flew to my arms, and I tried to pry them away from his neck, but I kept making my grip tighter, causing the rogue's face to begin to turn a deathly blue.
The rogue's expression darkened in anger.
Immediately, the rogue fell straight to his back and crushed me down. My hands flew away from the rogue, and I spat out blood weakly.
The rogue stood up and gave what seemed like taunting laughter upon seeing me writhing in pain.
My heart began to pound in fear, and I almost bawled out due to sadness.
'Teacher Rex, I'm dead. I wish you were here. What am I going to do now?' I cried out in my mind and tried to sit up while biting my lower lip to suppress myself from crying due to the pain that tore through my back.
‘As a warrior, how can you give up soon? Is that what I taught you?’ Rex chided sharply through the mind-link, but I could hear the helplessness in his tone.
My eyes widened in shock, and my hand flew toward my chest in excitement. Although I had spoken in my mind, I never expected that Rex would hear me. ‘Rex, you're here?’
‘En, I'm here in the forest watching you.’ Rex acquiesced immediately. He let out a sigh. ‘I only wanted to watch your fight silently. I didn't expect him to pull this off.’ Rex's voice was filled with anger and worry. ‘I'll help you…’
My lips parted in a gasp. Is that possible? Just one rogue had left me exasperated by using two moves.
However, I'll choose to believe in Rex anytime, any day.
I grabbed the cage door and used it to help myself up while panting softly to recover my strength. I lowered my head seriously. ‘How?’
‘Follow my instructions; you'll win the rogues' battle.’
‘Ok.’
____
‘Throw your head to the back. Kick it in the crotch. Grab his hand and throw it on the floor heavily. Punch his face three times and swipe at its heart.’
After over an hour of listening to Rex's training, my body had learned to direct all of Rex's instructions quickly.
My lips parted, and I gasped slightly for breath. I wiped the blood of the rogues I had just killed on my shirt and made a turn for the next rogue.
However, I blinked in shock immediately. I didn't realize that I'd ended the fight with the 30 rogues already. So quick!
I lowered my head and sincerely appreciated Rex using the mind-link, "Thank you, Rex."
After a minute, I received no response from Rex, which meant that Rex had left! I'm so glad that Rex was here, or else I'll have lost my life or almost do!
The cage, which had stayed shut all along, opened up, and I walked out of the fighting ground.
I didn't realize how strong the stinky odor of the rogue's blood was until I breathed in fresh air.
The sun was so bright up in the sky that I couldn't get used to its strong light the instant I walked out of the cage. I had to use my palm to shield my face until I got used to it.
I took a look at my hand and tattered clothes, and they were filled with the blood of the rogues.
Not to mention the sweat that trickled down my face and made my hair cling to my face. I felt so uncomfortable and in need of a bath.
My eyes lowered in displeasure, and I slowly trudged toward the forest entrance to satisfy my needs.
Before I could arrive at the forest entry, I saw Oswald leaning against a mahogany tree with a complicated expression on his face.
Upon seeing me, Oswald's expression turned calm, and he strode toward me.
My face turned freezing cold, my breath began to come out in a hurry, and my body trembled in anger.
PA!
I raised my hand and slapped Oswald on the cheek crisply, using all my strength, not bothering to care if the camera was on or not.
A palm fingerprint immediately reflected on Oswald's right cheek, and my hand turned numb due to the actions.
"You wanted to kick me out of your pack because we were mates; fine! However, you won't let me live my life in peace; you're always coming over to torment my life! You launched a trial to kick me out. Fine! Despite your crazy trial rules, I accepted them and trained hard, yet you shamelessly rigged it and brought in experimental killing machines for a beginner like me to fight! You're despicable!" I yelled angrily.
"You're such a dick, Oswald! Can you make up your mind already? I've already done so, and I, Maia... Mmmhhh!"
Oswald shut my words with a deep kiss and pressed me against the tree he was originally leaning at.
Anger erupted within me, and I raised my leg to throw a kick at his crotch.
Oswald smirked and leisurely grabbed my legs before wrapping them around his waist.
My face reddened with fury. "Oswald, you sick bastard. Let me go!" I growled at him upon getting my hands and legs pinned by him.
Oswald's lips parted from mine, and his hand gently caressed my lips. He leaned forward and whispered next to my ear in a husky tone, "You don't understand how sexy you look fighting with the rogues. Makes me recall that afternoon." He revealed with a devilishly handsome smirk on his face.
My jaw clenched in anger. Upon everything that had happened to me, is that what this bastard noticed? I really wanted to tear him apart. I threw my head back as far as I could before throwing it forward to headbutt Oswald.
Oswald smirked and easily used two fingers to stop my head. "Pup, don't violently hurt yourself because of others," Oswald whispered in a shameless, flirty tone.
His eyes fell on my lips immediately, and he leaned forward to capture my lips in a kiss. I quickly moved my face, causing his kiss to land on my cheeks instead.
I glared at Oswald through the corner of my eyes, my chest heaving heavily. "Oswald, let go. I'm done with you. I'm leaving the power axis pack right now."
Oswald's expression changed immediately. "What?"
