Chapter 53: Chapter 53

"Where do you want to sit for lunch? Will you sit amidst my friends and me?" Nancy continued speaking while hovering over me like a mother hen.

I massaged my brows, feeling more disgusted than I've ever been in my life. How can someone be so shameless? Still, I kept my mouth shut and watched her display her fake concern.

I knew there must be a reason why Nancy decided to apologize to me. After all, she still displayed hate toward me yesterday, and if she really wanted to reconcile with me, the situation had taken more than enough time.

I tilted my head, thinking that perhaps Nancy was cooking a wicked plan. But what can it be?

I parted my lips to give Nancy a reply, but before I could, Lorelei entered the class with a cold frown on her face.

I felt something stir in me, and that thing was a hatred feeling directed solely at Lorelei. Instantly, Lorelei shot me a cold look, which I returned.

'She's a bitch.' Maia growled angrily. I could feel Maia's pulsing anger, and I knew she wanted nothing more than to beat Lorelei up.

'Calm down. Calm down. She's not worthy.' I tried to comfort Maia before she lost control, and I was influenced by her anger. Maia growled angrily before falling silent.

I turned to Nancy and tilted my head with curiosity. "Your Luna doesn't care that you're making friends with me?" I played with a strand of my hair while eying Nancy intently, wanting to see her reaction.

Immediately, an undecipherable glint flashed past Nancy's eyes, but she was quick to cover it up with a smile. "Luna Lorelei likes you; why will she be angry at me?" Nancy responded in a calm voice.

I snorted inwardly. At this rate, I wondered why Nancy was still pretending, but thinking of it in the other way, Lorelei had never antagonized me in front of everyone. Her actions had always been done in secrecy. An example of this was Lorelei ambushing me in the forest and disappearing before Rex arrived.

Perhaps Lorelei was the reason everyone was antagonizing me?

"Maia, I saw you have two pens. Can you lend me one, please? I lost mine. I'm Olivia, by the way. My mate is Oliver, the class captain." A pretty girl who seemed to be eighteen smiled at me. Olivia had been sitting in front of me all this time, but she had never talked to me until now.

What's happening? Am I the one going crazy? Why is everything changing? First, Nancy; now, Olivia; who'll be the next?

I handed the pen to Olivia, and she smiled at me before saying, "Thank you."

'Something is weird somewhere.' Maia suddenly spoke with a cautious tone. 'And it's screaming Lorelei.'

'Perhaps?' I retorted in an unsure tone. Yet I knew Maia was right. Things have begun to change. 'Is this her sign that she can make everyone like us or hate us; it depends on what she wants?' I deduced, and my eyes narrowed with killing intent.

'Exactly.' Maia growled in response.

Lorelei turned back, and our eyes met. Her lips curled, and she eyed me with a wicked glint before turning forward again.

I massaged my brows while thinking that perhaps Lorelei was the most mysterious member of the pack.

However, there's no need to focus on her; whatever her identity is doesn't concern me. I'd rather use that time to train and plan how to return to my pack.

____

Do you have a spot to sit?

Can I sit with you?

I heard you and Beta Wyatt are close; is he gentle in reality? Are you really in a relationship with him?

Is Beta Wyatt your mate? I heard your mate is dead.

The different voices that filled my ears almost drove me crazy as I made my way to the cafeteria with Nancy next to me and other students crowding me.

Ever since I arrived at school this morning, things have changed—not in a good way since I've lost my space.

All the hate that was always directed at me suddenly changed into enthusiasm, and it felt as if I had become a celebrity overnight.

Unfortunately, this enthusiasm gave me a headache.

It was as if they had all wanted to be my friends but had been restricted for a long time, but now that they weren't restricted, they were about to drive me crazy.

"Why are you all crazy? Will you disperse already? I don't want anyone to suffocate her." Arya suddenly yelled coldly while making her way toward me, who was surrounded by numerous students.

I heaved a sigh of relief at Arya's precise timing. Luckily, Arya had come. I was afraid that I'd lose my calm.

"Sorry princess. Sorry Maia." They apologized to Arya and me and began to disperse, but while staring at me with gazes filled with reluctance.

Arya sighed and grabbed my hand in concern. "Are you okay? What's wrong with them? Is it because of my order? Gosh, starting from day one, I knew that class was crazy. I wonder why the secretary just had to…" Arya suddenly paused, as if she had just noticed Nancy's presence. Her face turned cold, and she separated from me.

"What's this bitch doing with you?" Arya disparaged and eyed Nancy with contempt.

Nancy's expression paled, but she bowed to Arya respectfully and called. "Princess."

"I don't recognize you as someone who can call me that title. Fuck off already, you scheming bitch." Arya uttered coldly, anger and hatred seeping from her, and it made me wonder if they had both fought before.

I folded my arms with nonchalance as Arya chided Nancy; instead, I looked forward to Nancy's reactions, and just as I expected, Nancy didn't disappoint me.

Tears pooled in Nancy's eyes, and her shoulder quivered as she stared at Arya in grievance. "I don't understand why you hate me, Your Highness, but I'm sorry for however I may have offended you." Nancy cried out, making it seem as if Arya had been bullying her for no just reason.

Arya's face turned colder, and she snorted coldly. "There's no need to fake all these nonsense green tea bitch acts in front of me; it doesn't move me a bit. Fuck off for this princess. I don't like repeating my words." Arya scowled domineeringly. Her face was cold, and I could see the same resemblance to Wyatt.

Although Arya looks like a doll, when she's angry, her expression will turn cold and domineering.

Nancy's sad eyes fell on mine as if she were waiting for me to support her, and it almost made me laugh. I coughed silently to suppress my intention to laugh at her fake display, and then I looked away.

Nancy's eyes were filled with expectations, but it made me snort inwardly. Nancy and her friend had mocked me repeatedly. Does she think I'll stupidly defend her in front of Arya?

Seeing that I had made no move, Nancy eyed us with fierce hatred and ran into the restaurant.

Arya tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Such a bitch. Birds of the same feather flock together. Like master, like servant." Arya snorted in pure disdain, which seemed to be directed at Lorelei and Nancy.

I didn't bother asking anything because I knew she wouldn't tell me. "You look cool just now." I threw a thumbs up at Arya seriously.

Arya smiled immediately and clung to my hand tightly. Somehow I didn't feel any trace of disgust this time, so I let her be.

"Maia, the school head asked to see you." Oliver, the class captain, suddenly said behind me, causing Arya and me to stop in our tracks.

"The school head?" Arya tilted her head, her eyes filled with curiosity. "Did you do something?" She inquired.

I tried to remember all I'd done, and I couldn't recall doing anything that involved the school head. Thinking about it, I didn't even recall the existence of a school head. "No," I replied honestly.

Arya nodded and held my hand tight. "Then it's fine. Let's go together." Arya suggested, and I nodded.

Strangely, my heart began to pound, and I began to have a nagging feeling. It felt as if something bad was about to happen.

I took a deep breath to calm down, but it failed to calm me. Since I haven't done anything bad as of late, I tried to reassure myself that everything was fine, even though I kept having that strange, nagging feeling that nothing was.

Oliver turned to Arya and bowed slightly. "I'm sorry, princess. But the meeting is strictly for Maia." He conveyed in a firm voice.

Arya and I looked at each other in bewilderment, and the feeling increased. Has someone schemed against me?

Still, I pretended to stay unperturbed, although my curiosity about what was going on was gnawing deep into my bones.

"Okay, let's go, Oliver. I'll be fine, Arya." I smiled, pretended to be nonchalant, and shrugged off Arya's hand.

Arya frowned anxiously and grabbed my hand again.

I let out a chuckle due to finding Arya's actions cute. "Well, I'm only going to the school head's office; why are you acting as if you're watching me go on a war? Save that for later." I teased amidst chortling, and she smiled.

"Yes, you're right." Arya chuckled and took a step back. "I'll get your lunch and wait for you." She informed me.

I made a little bow and smirked mischievously. "Thank you, my beautiful doll." I teased.

Arya's face reddened, and she glared at me. "Maia!"

I found myself in front of the school head office after walking in the direction Oliver pointed to before he left.

Although the school was big, it was easy for one to find one's way around due to its architecture.

I sighed for the umpteenth time, battling the courage to ask for entry after failing to deduce the reason I was there.

"When will you come in and stop sighing?" A deep and familiar voice suddenly spoke from inside.

My eyes widened, not expecting to see him here. I expected him to be the last person I'd see.

"Oswald," I called, and I opened the door instantly.

As soon as I stepped into the office, Oswald grabbed my right hand and shut the door before pinning my hands to the wall. All his actions were fast, and it only took a few seconds.

I bit my lower lip to suppress the purr that wanted to emit due to the sparks that lit through my skin, caused by the touch of my mate.

I shivered in fear when mismatched bloodshot eyes glared at me with a crazy glint.

"Oswald, what are you doing?" I tilted my neck in curiosity, and before I knew it…

Oswald's other hand moved to my neck; within the blink of an eye, he wiped the concealer off my neck, making me freeze.
