Chapter 35: Chapter 35
I fell onto the dormitory bed with a sigh. The day had been long doing things totally unfamiliar, but it was fun to learn new things anyway.
I ended up catching no sight of Lorelei until the end of the day.
Although several rumors kept spreading that Lorelei was rejected from exiting the school compound, and she went to the principal's office to talk to him about it, I didn't know if that was true.
I turned to my left and snuggled the pillow, appreciating the soft bed arrangement in the hostel.
The hostel was classified into grades A, B, C, and D, which rank from the influential and wealthy class, which is grade A, to the poor class, grade D.
Grade A typically consists of one student per room, but the Grade A I'm currently residing in consists of Ayra and me, which I knew must likely be an arrangement made by Wyatt or Oswald. Perhaps to watch over me—who knows?
I sighed and turned to the right before ruffling my hair. It was my first day of school; I should've slept long ago due to the unfamiliar weariness, but now all I'm feeling is uneasiness.
It's as if something was missing. Although I knew what it was, I never expected that I'd miss their presence so much.
I wonder how he's doing staying alone in the mansion. I expected myself to return to the mansion after school, but what I never expected was that I'd be right here on the school premises until the weekend, unable to see his face.
Not to deny it, I miss seeing his cold face already. Ugh! How the hell am I missing the presence of two men so much that it makes me feel sick?
“Hey, are you sleeping?” Arya asked from her upper bunk. Her voice was clear in the dimmed room, coupled with the continuous tapping on her phone.
I sighed and wrapped my arms around myself before turning to the other side. “I'm not,” I whispered, but my voice was clear and loud enough to be heard by Arya.
Arya giggled and peered at my bunk with a mirthful giggle. She winked at me with a knowing look and inquired, “Are you thinking about my brother?” She propped her head up with an inquisitive stare.
I sighed and sat up, unable to sleep. I guess Arya and I are in the same shoes. If I should deduce the time, I think it is around 10:20 p.m. My eyes darted to the ticking clock on the opposite side, and I discovered that I was correct.
“Hm,” I responded silently, and she giggled again.
“You replied pretty straight. I like that.” Arya commented, and I shrugged.
I wasn't used to lying except for something necessary, but for something simple like this, there's no use lying.
I sighed. My eyes darted around the purple room uneasily. “I wonder if he's doing well. If he's not lonely by staying and sleeping alone.” I revealed while feeling a bit surprised that I could let this out to someone I had just met.
Arya pressed her lips together and squinted her eyes at me. She shrugged nonchalantly. “Brother is used to it. He could have been…” As if realizing what she was about to say, Arya paused before continuing again. “Never mind.”
I narrowed my eyes at her, noticing that this was the second time she'd paused and made a change of topic.
Arya had done the same at the restaurant, only to tell me that it was a secret among the higher-ups. Is this also the secret of the higher-ups? How many things is the power axis hiding?
“Change of topic,” I remarked casually.
Arya fell back onto the bed and stared straight at the ceiling.
“Ask cousin. You're the first woman he's ever moved close to. Perhaps he'll be willing to tell you.” She revealed and that got my attention, but before I could say anything, she winked at me playfully and tilted her neck curiously. “What's your charm?”
I arched my brows in curiosity and eyed her. “Are you interested in him?” After all, some cousins do fall in love and marry each other. Perhaps the Power Axis Pack is a practitioner of those acts.
Arya scoffed at me and feigned a shiver. “I don't want to lose my life.” She retorted with fear in her voice, only to grin sheepishly again. “You told me we're not friends, but we're talking so easily.” She remarked cheekily, and that made me arch my brows.
“What does that mean?” I asked because I could perceive that her words held double meaning.
Arya stretched her hand toward my face, but before it could touch me, I ducked away from her, but that only made her sheepish smile grow wider. She tucked a strand between her hair and winked at me seductively. “Are you in love with me…”
I snorted at her, not expecting that would be what she wanted to say. “Not funny…” I disparaged and parted my lips, but before I could say a word...
Suddenly a loud bang was heard, and our hostel door was kicked open.
Arya sat up with a frown and stared at me, perplexed before shifting her gaze to the door. “Are we doing late-night drilling? No one told us about it…”
“Keep quiet.” Before Arya could complete her words, a silver blade was suddenly placed on our neck, making us freeze. When did they come in?
“Come with me.” A thick, masculine voice suddenly whispered near my right ear.
My face whipped to the side, and all I could make out in the dim room was a burly, tall, masculine man dressed in black. His face was covered with a black mask.
Come with him? To where? Who sent him here? For him to tell me to come with me, I knew this person was targeting me. Is this a member of the Power Axis Pack? If he's, and even if he's not, how did they come in?
The sound of Arya kicking a blade snapped me out of my frozen state.
I reached out for the man's hand and kicked it away before throwing a punch at him.
The man grabbed my hand and locked it down. I thrashed around and continued to pinch and pry until I was able to get out of his lock.
Noticing his actions, it appeared that the man didn't have the intention of hurting me, and that made me feel as if I'd gained the upper hand.
Arya and I continued to wrestle with the two men intensely, but the people were top fighters. Although he didn't seem to have the intention of hurting me, it didn't take long for him to suppress me and lock me down on the bed.
Sweat was running through my skin, and I was panting heavily due to the actions.
I stretched my leg out, intending to kick his crotch, but before I could process it, I was stabbed in the neck with a syringe, which was injected into my system immediately.
