Chapter 21: Chapter 21

My eyes flew wide open all of a sudden, my heart began to palpitate, and my breath was erratic.

Sweats were also trickling down my skin, and my stomach churned and made loud noises. My hand moved to my chest to massage it; I applied a little pressure as I glanced at the room.

The continuous ticking sound of the silver clock placed next to my queen-sized bed calmed me down.

I sighed in relief after confirming that I was still in the power axis pack and not the red flame pack.

After a little rest these few days, my body, which had been scheduled to the red flame pack timing for almost a decade, couldn't help reverting to the old ways of waking at 4:00 a.m.

Soon, my breath and heartbeat returned to normal, and I calmed down. I fell onto the bed while yawning.

Although I tried to fall asleep, something seemed to be bugging me, making me unable to. And after a few minutes of inability to fall asleep, I sat up again while sighing.

I stood up from the soft queen-sized bed and walked to the neutrally designed bathroom.

After taking a warm bath, I dressed in a casual outfit of blue shorts that fell above my knees and a baggy black top before walking out of the room with the hope of cleaning the mansion.

Although Wyatt hadn't mentioned my assigned job in his mansion, that doesn't mean I should stay jobless.

After all, the reason I entered his mansion was to be his maid until I figured out how I was going to start attending school here.

I went to the kitchen, and I found no dirty plates, even though I didn't wash the plates we used last night because Wyatt sent me to my room immediately after I mentioned packing up and washing the plates. I doubt that he's the one who washed them.

Although I've been here for two days, except Beta Wyatt, the staff who left after dressing me up for the party, and me, I haven't seen anyone here, and it made me wonder who's behind the cleaning.

Entering the room next to the kitchen, I discovered that it was the room meant to keep the cleaning materials. The cleaning materials were either hung or neatly placed in their designated areas.

I picked up an apron, which I made use of immediately, a clean mop, detergent, etc. I took all the cleaning materials I needed and walked out of the cleaning room.

After preparing the things I required, I went to the kitchen to clean and mop the dark marble floor. Beta Wyatt is such a monotonous man, and it is reflected in his style.

Hence, his house was decorated in the black and white style, yet it didn't feel uncomfortable to the eyes; instead, it was pleasing and elegant to the eyes, and no matter how much one looked around the house, one could never get tired of watching it.

I began to hum the song my mom used to sing whenever I got angry. Surprisingly, the only songs that stuck in my head among all the others were the ones my mom used to sing. Although I can't remember the lyrics, I can remember the melody clearly.

Soon, I was done with the kitchen and moved to the dining room.

There was hardly any dirt found; everything was sparkling clean, but that didn't faze me a bit; instead, it made me want to make it more clean. In a few minutes, I was done with cleaning the dining room, so I walked to the living room.

I picked up a white cleaning towel to wipe the black and white sofa. I was wiping the sofas gently when I heard the almost non-existent sounds of footsteps behind me.

I paused what I was doing and turned back.

Beta Wyatt came to a stop upon seeing me. I thought he was upstairs sleeping, but I never expected that he wasn't in the house all along.

Beta Wyatt was in casual track pants with its top hung on his shoulder, leaving his ripped and muscular upper body revealed.

He looked so hot, and at a glance, he stole my breath away. I gulped and quickly lowered my head to hide my hot face.

"UHM. Go. Good m. Morning. Beta Wyatt." I greeted him in between stutters.

I tried to stop thinking about how his muscular body looked so hot and toned and how much my hands wanted to run through his skin, but his sandalwood scent kept stirring me up, making me unable to think about anything apart from the perfect body, which was only a few steps away from me.

Wyatt took two steps toward me and removed his top from his shoulder. He stood right in front of me, inclining me to look up at him. "What are you doing?" Wyatt inquired with a frown on his face.

I tilted my head and blinked, then shook the cleaning towel playfully and said, "Well, I'm doing my job as a maid." My smile froze when he glared at me immediately after I spoke.

Beta Wyatt's muscular hand ran through his hair, anger evident in his black eyes. "I told you I didn't bring you here to be a maid. If you want to be one so badly, then leave my mansion right now!" He yelled at me and pointed at the door, which made me flinch.

I bit my lower lip hard to stop myself from bursting into tears at the sudden outburst. I'm not weak. I'm arrogant, so I can't cry.

"I. I'm sorry. I just didn't want to be a burden." I susurrate apologetically while lowering my head and staring at my feet.

Beta Wyatt's index finger raised my chin. He used his thumb to wipe a tear that managed to escape from my eyes.

"Do you think I don't have the capability to raise you?" He inquired candidly, and his hand fell beside him.

I blinked and stared at him in bewilderment, not quite understanding what he meant. I tilted my head, hoping he'd clarify what he meant.

"I don't know how your brain works, but put that thing away and freshen up; Asher will be coming up to check up on you before you leave for class." He asserted himself imperiously and began to leave.

My eyes widened in shock upon hearing the words. I've been racking my brain on how to present the class matter to him, but what I didn't expect was him enrolling me before I could tell him.

My heart was filled with surging emotions, and I felt sweetened from head to toe. I bit my lower lip and straightened my back.

"But um. Beta… Wyatt. Don't you think you do too much for a stranger like me? What if I'm a spy meant to harm the pack? What if I ended up betraying you?" I inquired in a brittle voice.

My heart was beating unusually fast, but it didn't make me uncomfortable. Not at all. Instead, I was sweetened by the feeling I'm having right now.

Can someone explain the unusual feeling I'm having? Or is this what falling in love feels like? And is it possible to fall in love with someone so soon?

However, I'm not regretting these surging feelings because he's too perfect. Is it his perfect character, his handsomeness, or his figure? Everything I could list about Wyatt screams nothing but perfection.

I had the urge to jump on him, wrap my hand around his neck, and wrap my legs around his sturdy waist.

Wyatt stopped in his tracks and encroached toward me with a condescending smile on his face.

The feelings I was having disappeared without a trace, and I couldn't help but take a step back, fearfully. "What. What are you doing?"

"What makes princess think she can do so?" He interrupted my words.

Before I could process it, his right hand snaked around my waist and pulled it toward him.

My hands flew to his chest for support, and my face grew hot upon having contact with his ripped chest, which I'd been imagining since the minute my eyes came across it.

However, the feeling disappeared upon hearing his address. "Pr. Princess?" I whispered and stared at him with a pounding heart. "You. You know?"
