Chapter 140: Chapter 140

That damn Lorelei. Of course, her innocent image has always been two-faced.

Besides, the witch and wolf blood abhorred each other. How could I believe that a witch would willingly like a werewolf to the extent that she would cross her father just to save the werewolf pack? I can’t believe that my thinking ability has gotten worse. Ugh, am I becoming a fool? Bah, such a disgusting creature!

Then, if it were as it is, doesn’t that mean that Lorelei being useless is a lie?

At the thought, my eyes narrowed, and I grabbed Wyatt’s hand in agitation. “Doesn’t that mean she disguised herself as Fox?” I tilted my head and inquired.

But thinking about it, why would Lorelei want to poison my baby and me?

At the thought, my hand lowered to my stomach, and my brows knitted in a frown.

Oswald and I don't have anything to do with each other anymore. My baby also belongs to Wyatt, so why will Lorelei do this?

Recalling what the trio were discussing before I woke up, I knew things must have gone deeper than I knew. Perhaps it lay with the pure blood thing and Wyatt's Lycan blood.

I'm pure blood, and Wyatt is a Lycan. Wyatt and my child—hand lowered to my stomach, and I stroked it twice—will definitely be outstanding.

This meant that the stronger the power axis pack, the more danger the power axis pack would pose to the witch clan.

“Yes.” Wyatt nodded his head calmly in response, but his glinting eyes and clenched fist showed that he was far from calm.

I knew Wyatt must be annoyed at the danger I faced, and he must only be trying to stay calm for a reason only he knows, which includes making sure our safety is paramount.

Upon hearing Wyatt’s response, my eyes shifted to Wyatt’s face curiously. I pursed my lips in a thin line and furrowed my brows.

I know how Wyatt has always taken my safety paramount. If they all knew Lorelei was behind those events, why were they staying calm? “You know. Then why do you let her stay?”

What if she keeps causing more harm to the pack? Although I didn’t complete my statement, I knew Wyatt would understand me.

‘Although the pack has been cautious since the beginning, there are some things inevitable—Lorelei knowing everything about the power axis pack locations. The minute we took off her mask was the minute we declared war on the witch.’ Wyatt’s calm voice drifted through the mind-link. ‘The witches are powerful. Spells, etc., the pack don’t want the past occurrence to happen.’ Wyatt finalized, and I couldn’t help nodding in agreement.

For Conan to have been able to win back the means the witch tribe had investigated into the werewolf's weakness. Surely, it must have increased now.

Any rash movement on the werewolf pack side will only lead to huge losses on the werewolf side.

Thinking about it, the thoughts of Lorelei antagonizing me because of my pregnancy were brushed away.

Even long before I was categorized as pure blood or labeled Wyatt’s woman, Lorelei had always disliked me, which is very mutual. This means that Lorwle didn’t attack me just because I was pregnant. “Then what does she have against me, hubby?” I tilted my head curiously.

Wyatt grabbed my hands and stroked them as if to comfort me. His dark eyes glinted enigmatically, yet he purred at me as if to comfort me. He shook his head and stroked my cheeks, he replied. “Don’t know yet.”

I nodded while thinking that only time would tell. I smacked my lips together and feigned a fearful shiver. “So scary; since the beginning, I knew there’s something off about her that’s unsettling.” I smacked my lips together in contempt.

Wyatt’s lips curved up, and a chuckle spilled past his lips. He ruffled my hair and stroked my cheeks playfully. “Hm. My Maia is the best.”

I sat up and wrapped my hands around Wyatt’s arms before burrowing into Wyatt’s embrace. I let out a coquettish cry, “Hubby, can we go home already…”

Wyatt ran his hand through my hair comfortingly and helped me lie on the bed properly. “Be good.” He coaxed

I pursed my lip in a thin line and tried to make a cute face at Wyatt in a bid to change his decision, but Wyatt only stared at me unfazed, which revealed that he wouldn’t be discharging me unless the hospital gave the order to.

I puffed my cheeks and huffed at Wyatt in unhappiness and turned away, but in the next seconds, a thought flickered through my mind, and I turned to Wyatt again. “Hubby.” I raised my chin and stared at Wyatt seriously.

“Hm.” Wyatt extended his hand and stroked my chin.

I propped my head and placed my index finger on my chin before staring at Wyatt solemnly. “Why don’t we make use of a safe word so none of this can happen next time? What if she pretends to be me or you...” I shuddered at the thought while thinking that it'd be so scary.

Wyatt’s eyes turned glazed and his expression turned blank, but I couldn’t fail to catch the contempt in his eyes. “I won’t fall for it.” He simply declared

Upon hearing Wyatt’s response, my heart was overwhelmed with joy, making my lips curve upward in a smile.

However, thinking about it, Whenever Lorelei and I were in the same vicinity, I always felt an unsettling feeling and a strong hatred for her. I can’t fall for Lorelei's disguise either! “That’s right. I also think so. Her mere presence will be enough to make my blood boil.” I affirmed

A thought suddenly flickered through my mind, and my eyes widened. It turns out that Oswald wasn’t with Lorelei willingly. Rather, Oswald was staying with Lorelei to protect the power axis pack. Doesn’t that mean I’ve been misunderstanding Oswald from the beginning?

“Hubby, doesn’t that mean Oswald was actually sacrificing himself for the pack? I didn’t expect Oswald to carry such a big burden. I guess that's the reason he didn’t move into the palace.”

Wyatt’s eyes fell on me, and he nodded calmly. “Hm.”

But in the next second, I shook my head and snapped out of it. I shouldn’t be raising this topic. Oswald is such a disaster.

Recalling how Oswald had been one of the reasons for Wyatt's punishment made me shiver slightly.

To clarify myself, I grabbed Wyatt’s hand and stared at him seriously. "Hubby, no matter what, I’ll never look at another man. Hubby owns my heart.” I declared it seriously. I hope Wyatt knows that I have no thoughts of being with anyone else other than him, regardless of what might happen.

Wyatt’s expression softened, and an amused chuckle spilled past his lips. “Silly. I know...”

The door suddenly opened, and a loud snort filled my ear. Oswald leisurely strode into the ward, with Asher following behind him. “Since you know I’ve been such a good guy and you’ve misunderstood me, shouldn’t you apologize with a kiss?” He hinted

I rolled my eyes and glared at Oswald. Although Oswald had been a rascal just to protect me, that doesn’t mean my feelings weren’t hurt by his actions.

Besides, Oswald was the reason I got punished; it’s enough that I am not holding that against him. “That doesn’t excuse your stupid behavior. Hmph.” I harrumphed coldly. “Wait! Why are you in my ward? Leave already.” I chided unhappily.

Indifferently, Oswald strode into my room and sat on a sofa while exuding masculinity and authoritativeness. “The hospital is under my command.” He proclaimed in that cocky and infuriating voice that made the thoughts of beating him up, surge in me.

My expression changed immediately. I glared and huffed at Oswald in fury, but he only responded to me with a wicked smirk.

I turned to Wyatt with grievance-filled eyes. “Hubby Wyatt, he’s bullying me!” I cried out while pointing at Oswald unhappily.

“Oswald, it’s best you stay quiet or leave. Wyatt will side with Maia and do as she says.” Asher interjected and sat opposite Oswald.

Oswald leaned back against the chair and winked at me with a flirty glint in his eyes, making me scowl in fury. “If it’ll make my Maia happy.”

Asher’s lips twitched, and he exchanged glances with the three of us before pointing at Wyatt and Oswald. “You two are nuts.”

“Well, I won’t exchange words with a mateless singleton.” Oswald indifferently poked Asher’s wound cruelly.

“…”

Immediately, Asher fired an unhappy glare at me.
