Chapter 122: Chapter 122
It hurts. It hurts so much that it feels as if I've been ripped into two.
I bit my lower lip to suppress the painful groan that threatened to emit.
I fluttered my eyelashes and opened my eyes to find myself in Wyatt's teenage room.
The door and the window were shut, and the only source of light was the dimmed accent night lamp next to the bedside.
My arms, legs, and whole body feel so soft and sore as if I've done a hectic exercise.
Indeed, being eaten by Wyatt was very hectic. The thought of what happened the night before made my face burn.
Even Maia had fallen into a deep sleep because of the exercise we had done all night.
I observed myself and noticed that I'd been cleaned by Wyatt, and I currently wear a short-sleeve white shirt from Wyatt that fell onto my knees.
I tried to sit up, only to fall back on the bed while breaking into a sweat!
Wyatt was too much! How can he go crazy like last night? Is it really just hunger, or was it because of the anger with Oswald? My neck tilted, but I quickly shook my head.
Anyway, it doesn't matter; I just need a warm bath to help me relax.
Despite the ache coursing through my body, I bit my lower lip to stop myself from groaning loudly.
Gently, I removed the blanket, sat up, and got off the bed. My legs almost gave way under me if not for quickly holding the bed to support myself.
With trembling legs and holding a wall for support, I walked into the bathroom to soak in warm water and brush my teeth.
By the time I step out of the bathroom, the pain coursing through my body has diminished. Although I didn't need to use the wall for support, my legs were still trembling.
I walked towards Wyatt's bedroom and took out a shirt, and shorts from it.
I put it on while staring at Wyatt's pictures, which were placed on a table, and my lips curved in a large smile.
No wonder Natalie calls Wyatt an iceberg. Wyatt had always been cold, ever since he was young.
My gaze fell on a picture of the young Wyatt, Oswald, and Asher, which were placed on the table.
I discovered that not only Wyatt had a cold demeanor ever since they were young, but Oswald was also cold.
However, Oswald's expression was softened slightly compared to Wyatt's, while Asher was just like sunshine—always smiling very brightly.
I snapped out of staring at the picture and walked out of the room into the living room with shaky legs.
I had just arrived at the entrance to the living room when Natalie's caring voice drifted into my ear. "Where's Maia? It's evening. She has to eat." She enquired.
Wyatt raised his head, and his lips curved slightly as if he were relishing something. My face reddened immediately, even though none of them were aware of my presence yet. "Sleeping." He casually replied in a cold voice.
Arya's and Natalie's lips parted in horror.
"Brother, Are you crazy? How can sister-in-law still be asleep since last night?" Arya cried out in horror.
Natalie also nodded in agreement and glared at Wyatt fiercely. "It's your fault."
"Good evening, mom and dad." I stepped into the room and greeted them, interrupting their conversation.
Natalie gasped and covered her lips with her palm upon seeing me. Her eyes were eyeing me from head to toe. "Oh, my god. Panda eyes. Hickeys."
"Big brother Wyatt, you..." Arya cried out and pointed at me dramatically.
Mr. Finley stared at me and looked away in the next second. Even though he didn't say a word, the shocked glint that flickered past his eyes didn't evade my notice.
Upon seeing everyone's shocked gaze, my face burned red, and I looked down in embarrassment. If it wasn't Wyatt's fault...
Something suddenly passed by, prompting me to raise my head.
Wyatt stood up while holding an apple, a cocky smile plastered on his face. "Thank you, mom. I'll give it to your daughter." Wyatt brazenly uttered in a cocky voice while walking towards me.
At that minute, I realized that Natalie had thrown an apple at Wyatt.
Upon stopping right in front of me, Wyatt stretched out his hand toward me and wrapped his hand around my waist to help me. He planted a kiss on my chin and handed the apple to me with a gentle smile on his face. "How do you feel, babe?"
How was I supposed to feel after being tossed all through the night? I collected the apple from Wyatt and glared at him angrily before choosing to ignore him.
"Dinner is ready in a few minutes. Maia, Sit." Natalie flashed me a comforting smile and pointed at one of the dining chairs.
I nodded in appreciation. "Thank you, mom."
Arya shook her head, eyed me from head to toe, and clicked her tongue in pity. “Oh woah. Going at it like a horse. With your condition, can you attend school tomorrow…”
“Definitely,” Wyatt interjected and effortlessly picked me up before placing me in the chair.
Arya almost faltered at Wyatt's interjecting sentence. She smacked her lips together, and her eyes popped in shock.
Soon, she snapped out of it and began to swirl her hair. Her apologetic gaze fell on me immediately. "He's definitely far from a romantic man. Don't worry, sister-in-law. No girl had ever caught his gaze before, so he had no knowledge of..."
Wyatt gave Arya a lecturing gaze and rebutted, "Arya."
Immediately, Arya stuck out her tongue playfully and smacked her lips together.
Wyatt's lips suddenly curved up wickedly. "A few weeks left before your exam result..."
Arya's playful expression slipped, and she grabbed my hand fearfully. "Sister-in-law. You have to have my back then."
I couldn't help but smile, finding everything warm. I really wish things wouldn't change for the worse, no matter what.
….
'I'll pursue you from now on. get prepared.' My fist clenched and I gnashed my teeth together, a multitude of thoughts flickering through my heart upon recalling Oswald's statement when we met at Natalie's place.
I knew how crazy Oswald was, and it made me wonder what his plan was. I really hope he won't cause trouble.
Ugh! I tugged at my hair in anger. What's the use of having two mates? There's too much trouble for...
“Ugh. Maia. You're spacing out again. At this rate, you'll collide with a wall." Arya's exasperated voice suddenly drifted into my ear, snapping me from my reverie.
I sighed and massaged my brows languidly. The thoughts of what Oswald might do in the days to come kept swirling in my mind, making me lose focus.
I really hope he won't be as crazy as to do what might trigger Wyatt's anger...
Arya facepalmed herself and rolled her eyes dramatically. “See. You're spacing out ag..."
"Arya, the math teacher calls for you."
Before Arya could complete her sentence, a junior student suddenly interrupted.
Arya paused in her tracks and nodded to the student.
She waved at me and conveyed. "Maia, Go on to take a rest! I'll meet you in the hostel."
"Hm." I nodded and continued on my way to the hostel while Arya followed the junior student.
Suddenly, my brows furrowed, finding something amiss.
A few meters from my hostel, I saw four guards standing at my hostel.
My heart skipped a beat, understanding what was happening.
Oswald is really getting too impetuous. How could he blatantly come to the beta's mate hostel?
Quickly, I turned and attempted to leave for the hostel. I promise not to return until Oswald has left...
Before I could successfully leave, two guards suddenly blocked the exit and stretched out their hands toward the door to my hostel. “Please go in, Luna.”
“Luna?"
