Chapter 91: Chapter 91

"When are you coming back?" Granny Du asked.

Su Lingzhi replied, "About half a month, as there are some matters that need to be taken care of."

The two elderly people fell silent.

They initially thought the child could stay at home for a few more days, but unexpectedly, she was going abroad tomorrow, which made them feel a bit reluctant and disappointed.

So they quietly kept adding food to her bowl, hoping she’d eat more.

After dinner, Granny Du prepared some fruits and tea, letting the two young people cool off under the old locust tree in the courtyard.

Su Lingzhi leaned back in the chair, fanning herself with the palm fan her grandmother gave her, thoughts stretching out like melon vines.

In fact, before returning to the country, Lindxu, this women’s fashion brand, was one of the brands she wanted to join, one reason being their fabric design.

Although the clothing design of this brand wasn’t impressive, the fabric design was not inferior to those of foreign brands.

Good fabrics allowed her room to flourish, and their focus on environmental concepts was in line with her values.

Su Lingzhi suddenly put down the fan, poured him a cup of tea, and asked, "Is your company hiring right now? I’d like to try and see if there’s an opportunity."

Pei Xu’s eyes showed slight surprise, his brows softened into a gentle smile, "After leaving Lyrae, all the domestic brands are trying to poach you, are you worried no one would want you?"

"After the Lyrae Spring/Summer fashion show became a hit, anyone in the fashion arts field must know you."

Su Lingzhi modestly said, "Not necessarily. There are many good brands and designers, there’s mutual selection between them, but there aren’t many that fit together perfectly."

Su Lingzhi continued to ask, "What position do you hold at Lindxu? How’s the company culture? Do colleagues play politics?"

Pei Xu met her inquisitive gaze, seemingly not expecting those questions, "You really care about the company atmosphere."

Previously at Lyrae, though Mrs. Rika treated her well, the atmosphere there was particularly stifling.

Especially the designers, because of heavy tasks, they were hostile, their nerves constantly tense, which wasn’t good for mental or physical health in the long run.

However, having interned at Lyrae was a nice addition to her resume.

Now opting to become a formal employee at a company, she was naturally cautious in her selection.

Pei Xu said, "The company has a great atmosphere, designers work freely, there’s no need to clock in or out, as long as they submit their work within the set timeframe. Currently, the position of creative director is still vacant."

Su Lingzhi was intrigued by this position, "When’s the application deadline for this role?"

Pei Xu asked her back, "What are your salary expectations?"

Su Lingzhi thought for a moment and boldly stated, "A monthly salary of fifty thousand."

"How soon can you start?"

"The earliest would be after the National Day holiday."

"Can you start on October 8th?" Pei Xu asked to confirm.

"Yes." After answering, Su Lingzhi felt as though she was being led along by him.

Pei Xu laughed and extended a hand to her, "Congratulations, you’ve been hired."

Su Lingzhi stared at him blankly, uncertain of what his words meant, "You can make that decision?"

"Before exploring the Lindxu brand, didn’t you look into who founded it?" Pei Xu continued, "A base salary of fifty thousand, a performance bonus of thirty percent, with a maximum performance bonus of two hundred thousand, are you willing to join Lindxu?"

Su Lingzhi was slow to process it all, like a dreamlike bubble, feeling surreal.

Snapping back to reality, Su Lingzhi replied, "I’m willing."

"You are a very talented designer; domestic and international brands are all trying to poach you, including me. It’s my honor you chose Lindxu. I’ll send the employment contract to your email. If you have any questions or dissatisfaction, let me know, and I’ll amend it for you."

Organizing her thoughts, Su Lingzhi quickly reached out to shake his hand, saying seriously, "Thank you for your company’s trust in me."

Just like that, the person in front of her became her boss.

Just as when Rika chose her during the fashion design competition in England, there wasn’t a formal setting, just a simple face-to-face chat established the employment relationship.

This setting, however, was even more relaxed than the previous one.

Pei Xu took out his phone, "Let’s add on WeChat first, send me your email."

"Okay, President Pei."

Noticing how quickly she changed the form of address, the atmosphere shifted slightly, introducing a line called the "superior-subordinate" boundary.

Pei Xu glanced at her, saying, "You can still call me Brother Pei Xu, it sounds more intimate."

"Does everyone at the company call you that?"

"Then I’ll just call you President Pei like everyone else."

Pei Xu remained gentle, "As you wish."

Adding on WeChat, Su Lingzhi labeled the contact as "President Pei" and immediately sent him her email.

"I’ll send you the contract once I get back. Once everything is finalized, we’ll sign it offline."

"I have some errands this afternoon, so I’ll leave first. Safe travels tomorrow, see you on October 8th."

Su Lingzhi politely smiled and said, "Take care, President Pei." Fınd the newest release on novelfire.net

"Okay." Pei Xu turned around, a slight smile tugging at his lips, its meaning unclear.

After dinner, she said goodbye to her grandparents.

Her grandmother suddenly called her back, handing her a bag, "I almost forgot, I made rice wine fish this afternoon, I’ve cooled it down and packed it up. Remember to put it in the fridge once you get to England, and try to finish it within a week after opening. There’s also the autumn pear paste I made earlier, along with the date paste cakes you like."

"Grandma, you’re so good to me." Su Lingzhi said, taking the items and hugging her with a sense of gratitude.

Granny Du patted her back, "After your graduation ceremony, come back early. Don’t stay away too long. If you don’t want to return to the Su Family, come back to grandma’s, this is your home too."

"Okay." Su Lingzhi stood up straight, looking at the two of them, "Well then, grandpa and grandma, I’ll head home now."

"Alright, off you go."

After leaving, carrying the items, she exited the alley, her eyes involuntarily stinging with emotion.

In the past, these things did not affect her much, but after finding out she wasn’t part of the Su Family, not their biological granddaughter, the love they gave her, which wasn’t originally hers, became incredibly precious and strong.

"Miss." Housekeeper Zhao’s voice called out ahead.

Su Lingzhi looked up to see him, her eyes glittering like stars under the streetlight, "Uncle Zhao?"

Housekeeper Zhao hurried over to help her with the items, "Sir asked me to wait here, afraid you wouldn’t be able to get a cab."

Unbeknownst to her, on the way back to Jing Garden, four bodyguard cars followed quietly behind.
