Chapter 70: Chapter 70
In the dead of night, the neon lights of the city glinted through the rain, with car lights reflecting off the wet streets, stopping at the entrance of Jing Garden.
Assistant Li stepped out with an umbrella, escorting Fu Yinli out of the back seat and into the courtyard.
As always, once Fu Yinli got home, he headed straight upstairs to take a shower.
In the living room, Housekeeper Zhao gazed at the aloof and distant back, hesitant to speak. It wasn’t until Fu Yinli came downstairs after his shower that he said, "Sir, Miss Su and Miss Zhuang have left. They are at the Shangyu Hotel, under the Shao Family."
Fu Yinli halted his steps and asked indifferently, "When did they leave?"
"Five thirty in the afternoon."
"Got it, you can go rest now."
After speaking, he then walked towards the first-floor bedroom, his expression calm as if he didn’t take Su Lingzhi’s departure to heart.
Housekeeper Zhao averted his gaze, intuitively knowing that things weren’t as simple as they seemed. Based on his understanding of his master, it wouldn’t take more than half an hour for some action to unfold.
When Fu Yinli turned on the light, he saw only neatly folded quilts left on the bed.
He sat on the bed, picked up the half-finished embroidery on the bedside table, glanced at it, put it down, then turned off the light and lay down with the quilt.
Having shared a bed for a week, her scent still lingered on the quilt. Now that she wasn’t there, it felt like something was missing in his heart, an emptiness inside.
As time passed, he still couldn’t sleep, so he slowly opened his eyes, feeling inexplicably irritable.
He then sat up from the bed, took a cigarette from the pack, and lit it.
The glow of the cigarette’s red tip appeared exceptionally bright in the dimness, accentuating his sharp and somber features.
After a cigarette’s time, he got out of bed and called Housekeeper Zhao, "Which room is Zhizhi in?"
Hanging up the phone, Fu Yinli changed his clothes, took the driver, and headed to the Shangyu Hotel.
In the luxurious suite, Zhuang Xiaoxi was awakened in the middle of the night by a persistent doorbell ringing. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ novel·fire.net
With no other choice, she crawled out of bed, squinting her eyes to look through the peephole at the door. Once she saw who it was, she instantly became more alert, looking at the man outside with a face full of bewilderment.
Why... Why is he here in the middle of the night?
Zhuang Xiaoxi hesitated for a moment, frowned, and opened the door.
Wearing pajamas, she didn’t dare open the door too wide, hiding behind it, only revealing half her head, and politely asked, "It’s so late, Mr. Fu, do you need anything?"
Zhuang Xiaoxi forced a smile, "It’s already past two in the morning, of course she’s asleep."
Fu Yinli looked at the blurred shadows inside, his brows furrowed, "Is it convenient to come in? I’m looking for Zhizhi."
"Do you have anything urgent? If not, could you come back in the morning?"
"..." Zhuang Xiaoxi was instantly speechless.
Disturbing a patient in the middle of the night, can’t whatever it is wait until tomorrow...
She frowned, opened the door, and let him in, "She’s in the bedroom on the left."
Fu Yinli stepped inside.
Under the dim nightlight, he found her and without waiting for a reaction, gently scooped her off the bed.
The person, still in slumber, shivered and instinctively opened her eyes.
In the pitch-black darkness, a familiar scent wafted over, followed by his low and gentle voice.
Su Lingzhi frowned, "Why are you here?"
Fu Yinli didn’t answer, carrying her straight out of the room.
Passing by Zhuang Xiaoxi, he softly said, "Sorry for the disturbance."
Zhuang Xiaoxi watched them leave, bewildered, wanting to follow but refraining.
Didn’t he say there was something urgent? Why did he take her away? What’s this all about?
Zhuang Xiaoxi walked to the doorway, puzzled, only to see Fu Yinli carrying her into room 2101 on the same floor.
Realizing something, her face instantly turned dark, puzzled for a long time without reacting.
Fu Yinli placed her on the bed, immediately lying down beside her.
Su Lingzhi got up from the bed, glaring at him coldly.
Confused by his series of actions, she asked, "Did you come all this way just to have me sleep with you?"
"Zhizhi, it’s late. Let’s talk about it tomorrow."
Waking her up in the middle of the night, then putting her here, how is she supposed to sleep?
"You’re satisfied, but how am I supposed to sleep? Fu Yinli, how can you not say a word, burst into my friend’s room in the middle of the night, and take me out to sleep with you? You pervert."
Upon hearing the word ’pervert’, Fu Yinli abruptly opened his eyes, staring at her in silence, a deep gaze.
In the silent confrontation, Su Lingzhi reached for the pillow and threw it at him.
"Fu Yinli, stop playing dead."
"Tired," he muttered in a low voice, devoid of any emotion.
Infuriated, Su Lingzhi’s breaths quivered, having never been left speechless by someone before, feeling helpless against him, just sitting there.
The Fu Yinli she knew was gentlemanly and polite, but now he continuously shattered that impression, how could he be so shameless?
Fu Yinli sighed deeply, sat up, and hugged her, soothingly saying, "Whatever grievances you have with me, let’s talk about them tomorrow, okay?"
Su Lingzhi forcefully pushed him away, pulling all the quilts over herself angrily, turning her back on him.
Fu Yinli helplessly watched her, and after lying down, managed to hug her along with the quilt. Su Lingzhi pushed against him, but he clung tighter; after a few rounds of this, she relented.
Eventually, Su Lingzhi gave in, allowing him to hold her, and within a short while, she could hear his even breathing.
In the midst of prolonged wakefulness, she eventually softened, turning over to share the quilt with him, covering him up.
In his sleep, Fu Yinli’s frown eased, drawing her back into his embrace, sleeping close to her.
However, when Su Lingzhi awoke the next day, he was already gone.
She sat on the bed, feeling down, and as soon as there was movement, someone entered from outside.
"Zhizhi, you’re awake."
"It’s me," replied Zhuang Xiaoxi.
Su Lingzhi furrowed her brows, a mix of emotions in her heart, finally just managing to mutter, "I want to wash up first."
During breakfast, when asked about the events of last night, Zhuang Xiaoxi was speechless. "So there wasn’t anything urgent at all? He just took you away without a word, just to have you sleep with him?"
Helplessly, Su Lingzhi nodded.
"How can there be someone like that... If you’re not with him, does he just not sleep? Does he really see you as necessary for sleep?" Zhuang Xiaoxi frowned deeply.
Except for Fu Yinli’s status, Zhuang Xiaoxi originally thought well of him, but ever since Zhizhi’s incident, her impression of him worsened each time, but given Zhizhi’s current situation, she didn’t want to add to her distress.
Su Lingzhi’s eyes darkened. "Let’s not talk about him anymore, let him do what he wants."
"Okay, where do you want to go today? I’ll take you."
"I want to return to Jing Garden."
