Chapter 793: Chapter 793
A streak of emerald Escape Light shot out from the golden thunderbolts, moving rapidly.
"Trying to escape? Do you think you can?"
A golden Sparrowhawk, with its wings spread thousands of feet wide, spoke with an icy voice.
Above its head hovered a huge phantom of a Sparrowhawk, which was its Dharma Nature.
The wings of the Sparrowhawk phantom flapped gently, and a large amount of golden arcs surged over its body.
A deafening peal of thunder came from high above, as a thick silver thunderbolt tore through the sky, striking towards the emerald Escape Light.
A piercing sound of tearing through the air rang out, as a giant yellow fist flashed and shattered the silver thunderbolt.
The Escape Light converged, revealing a tall and thin man in green robes, his face pale and his expression filled with panic.
"Who dares to ruin my plans?"
The golden Sparrowhawk’s tone was filled with anger.
Void Fluctuations started, and a red hand several hundred feet in size materialized out of thin air, slapping down towards the Sparrowhawk.
The golden Sparrowhawk was about to counter when a harsh and piercing screech rang out. It felt an unbearable sharp pain in its sea of consciousness, causing its reaction to slow.
The red hand struck the Sparrowhawk phantom, which cracked extensively, shattered into pieces, and dispersed into specks of Spiritual Light.
The golden Sparrowhawk’s Dharma Nature was broken, and its body trembled.
A flash of red light, and a red tower shimmering with light, inscribed with the words "Qianhuo Tower," appeared above the Sparrowhawk.
The bottom of the Qianhuo Tower emitted a red glow, enveloping the golden Sparrowhawk and sucking it inside.
The Qianhuo Tower shook violently as if the Sparrowhawk was trying to escape its confines.
The Qianhuo Boat approached swiftly from afar. With a single gesture from Chu Buyu’s hand, the tower radiated blinding red light, rapidly shrinking, and flew back into her sleeve.
The man in green robes eyed Shen Long and the others warily.
"My name is Chen Bai. Thank you, fellow Taoists, for your assistance."
The man in green robes expressed his gratitude.
"My surname is Shen. Taoist Friend Chen, you were hunting Monster Beasts in the Red Scale Mountain Range, right? Do you know of any anomalies there, or perhaps something eerie?"
Shen Long got straight to the point.
"I was indeed hunting Monster Beasts and didn’t notice anything unusual, but to the southwest, over a billion miles away, there’s an underground cave that’s a bit strange. Every night, it emits eerie ghostly cries, and it’s said that a Void Refining Ghost Creature lurks there, yet during the day it appears normal. Some Taoists have investigated but found nothing, and I have never ventured there myself. Here is a map, though it’s not necessary. Taoist Friend Shen, it would be better not to go there."
Chen Bai flicked his sleeves, releasing a blue Beast Hide that flew towards Shen Long.
Shen Long scanned it with his Divine Sense, detected no anomalies, caught the Beast Hide, and saw that it was a map with some places marked with words, including one marked with "Ghost Cries."
He asked several questions, and Chen Bai answered them truthfully.
"Thank you, Taoist Friend Chen."
Shen Long expressed his gratitude.
"It was nothing but a simple effort. I have matters to attend to, so I won’t stay any longer. Farewell until we meet again."
After saying this, Chen Bai turned into a streak of green light and left.
Chu Buyu pinched a spell, and the Qianhuo Boat’s red light surged, flying toward the southwest.
In less than half an hour, the Qianhuo Boat came to a halt. Ahead lay a steep black mountain, and at its foot was a sizable cavern.
Shen Chan’s eyes burst with dazzling golden light, and with a frown, he said, "Master, I have detected a Void Refining Ghost Creature inside the cavern. It is adept at concealment, but it cannot hide from me."
"It seems Taoist Friend Chen didn’t lie. Since we’ve encountered a Void Refining Ghost Creature, let’s eradicate it."
Shen Long spoke with a grave voice.
With another spell cast by Chu Buyu, the Qianhuo Boat flew into the cavern, which extended deep underground, its walls covered with moss and lichen.
Shen Long flicked his sleeve, and Shen Jiu emerged from the Spirit Beast Bracelet, turning into a streak of blue light and diving straight into the depths of the earth.
Before long, the underground resounded with an ear-splitting explosion, faintly tinged with the chilling cries of a ghost.
"Second brother has engaged in a fight with the Ghost Creature, and the Ghost Creature is no match for him,"
Shen Jiu flew back from underground and said, "Master, it has been hiding here all along, deliberately luring Cultivators over to ambush and kill Soul Transformation Cultivators and Void Refining Cultivators. Whenever they arrive, it either hides or flees far away."
"Come back for now! Let’s go take a look elsewhere. The Thunder Continent is vast; we’ll find it slowly,"
Shen Jiu transformed into a streak of blue light and flew back into the Spirit Beast Bracelet.
Chu Buyu changed his spell, and the Qianhuo Boat flew back the way it came.
After leaving the cave, the Qianhuo Boat soared into the high skies, with Shen Chan responsible for scouting the surroundings.
At Qingmei Marketplace, within Qingmei Garden.
Ye Yuntao and Wu Bin sat in a cyan Stone Pavilion, conversing about something.
"Taoist Friend Shangguan sent me a message, saying that he has traced the movements of those two elders from the Qingmei Business Alliance. They left the marketplace following two Unity Cultivators,"
"Brother Yuntao, do you know the origins of those two Unity Cultivators?"
Ye Yuntao took out two portraits and handed them to Wu Bin, saying, "This is their information; one of them belongs to the Witch Clan."
Wu Bin opened the portraits to see a man and a woman, with text descriptions beside them.
"Fairy Xuanbing! Blood Witch True Monarch!"
Wu Bin’s brow furrowed tightly; both of these individuals were at the Unity Middle Stage with formidable strength.
"Taoist Friend Ye, could you persuade the Shangguan Family to look into where these two have appeared or the places they frequent?"
Wu Bin asked politely.
"That’s simply too difficult to investigate, the challenge is too great. Considering the vast expanse of the Thunder Continent, it’s virtually impossible to pinpoint where two Unity Cultivators have shown up unless you can convince all power factions to assist,"
Ye Yuntao said with a frown.
The Shangguan Family isn’t the strongest force of the Human Clan on the Thunder Continent, and moreover, searching for the whereabouts of two Unity Cultivators is a matter that could offend others. Angering the wrong party could mean making enemies of two Unity Cultivators for no valid reason, a loss greater than the gain.
Wu Bin’s brow remained tightly knitted; he knew his request was indeed excessive. It was impossible to have all factions assist; the Qingmei Business Alliance didn’t have such influence.
"Taoist Friend Wu, there might be a way to find the whereabouts of these two,"
"The Eight Directions Tower! Money can make ghosts grind the mill. It all depends on how many Spirit Stones you’re willing to spend. To have the Eight Directions Tower look into the whereabouts of two Unity Cultivators, you’ll have to settle the fee with top-grade Spirit Stones,"
Ye Yuntao said, his brow creased.
Wu Bin pondered for a moment before saying, "Taoist Friend Ye, is there an Eight Directions Tower branch within Qingmei Marketplace?"
"No, but there’s a branch in Qixuan Marketplace. If you’re interested, you can go there. Whether you can find out where these two have gone depends on how many top-grade Spirit Stones you put forth,"
Ye Yuntao said with a meaningful look.
The Eight Directions Tower specializes in selling all kinds of information, at a high price.
"Thank you, Taoist Friend Ye. I will make a personal visit to Qixuan Marketplace!"
Wu Bin said gratefully, his gaze resolute.
If the Unity Cultivators from the Qingmei Business Alliance were killed by Evil Cultivators, that would still be manageable. The fear was that they were marked by a particular faction.
If it was the former, the Cultivators of the Qingmei Business Alliance could take it as a warning and be more cautious in the future. If it was the latter, the Qingmei Business Alliance would either have to eliminate that faction or find a way to make that faction no longer target them. Otherwise, the Cultivators from the Qingmei Business Alliance wouldn’t be able to conduct their business properly.
