Chapter 7: Chapter 7

I woke up with my body stiffen. I sat up and stretched my body. I took a glance at the clock and said it was 10 PM.

I groaned and stood on my feet. I was still wearing my outfit for the day. I grabbed my toiletries to have shower and brushed my teeth.

I realized that Brian and Ethan didn't wake me for dinner. I guessed Ethan got the message that I was still pissed with my brother. I hadn't seen Brian all day.

After taking the shower and brushed my teeth, I went back to my room and did my math homework. I never liked math. But after some time ago, I felt that I was the idiot because it is was actually easy if I tried it.

When I was in boarding school, I was so eager to learn, especially the subjects I was weak on like math and physics. I remember I got C on my math and physics tests. Since then, everyday, I would read the books and doing the exercises. Slowly, I got A on those subjects.

The homework was easy for me. So, around 15 minutes, I was done. I couldn't sleep anymore and I wasn't in mood for listening to musics or read.

I wanted to watch TV, but I knew that both Ethan and Brian would be there too. I looked at my clock and it was 11 PM. Have they gone to bed?

I decided to check it out myself. I opened my bedroom door and closed it quietly. I headed to the living room like a ninja. I peeked inside, and there was no one. I checked the kitchen too and it was empty. Yessss. They've gone to sleep.

I opened the refrigerator to have some water and grabbed an apple. I was famished but it was fine for me. As long as my tummy had something in it.

As I took a bite on my apple, I headed back to the living room. I sat on the couch and turned the TV on. I turned it on low volume so they wouldn't awake.

I watched the TV until midnight and I still wasn't sleepy. It was 1 AM. I had class tomorrow and I would defenitely be a zombie.

There was nothing interesting in the TV so I turned it off. I sighed and went back to my room, trying to sleep.

That was why I couldn't take a nap, because I would have trouble sleeping at night and woke up late the next day. I grabbed my alarm clock and made sure to set it on.

I stirred my body countless times already. I glanced at my clock and it was 2 AM. Oh, great. I was so gonna be a zombie. But after some time, I drifted to sleep.

I woke up with the loud alarm noise. I barely opened my eyes. I extended my hand to the night stand to grab my alarm and shut it off. Once it was quite, I slept again for a few minutes.

I didn't know how long I'd been sleeping when someone shook me to wake up. I was startled and sat up right away. Then I saw Brian sitting on my bed, grinning.

"Hey, sis. It's 07.00 already. You have class right? " he asked.

My eyes widened in shock. "What? 07.00? Holy shit. I'm late", I got up from the bed and rushed myself to the bathroom. I could hear Brian's chuckle.

See? That was why I shouldn't take a nap. I always ended up being late.

I got out of the shower and went back to my room. Brian wasn't in my room anymore. I quickly grabbed whatever outfit I saw and put my books in the bag. I brushed my hair and went out. I didn't have time to apply mascara.

I glanced at my watch and it was already 07.30. Shit. Before I went out to the door, I heard Brian told me to have breakfast but I said no because I was freaking late.

I almost ran to the campus and collided with some people in the street. I could hear them grumbled and I said sorry.

Luckily the campus wasn't far so I could make it at 07.45. I stopped to gain some air to my lungs.

"Someone's running late today", I heardn Mike's voice behind me. I turned around and saw him grinning.

"What do you want?", I scowled.

"Woah, woah. Someone's not in the mood", he teased and stood in front of me.

"Just leave me alone, Mike", I muttered softly and walked passed him but he managed to catch up.

"No can do, sweety. You promised me a date", he smirked.

"I never said yes", I snapped.

He chuckled. "Alright, how about this, we won't call it as a date, but as friends hanging out."

I glared at him. "And if I still say no?", I challenged.

"You'll say yes, eventually", he winked. "I'll see you later", with that he walked away.

I shook my head and went to my class. Luckily the professor was kind of running late, so I was safe from detention.

After class, Hailey came to me. "Hey, girl", she hugged me.

I chuckled. "You like haven't seen me for ages"

"That what happens if you don't get to sit next to your best friend" she sang. "So, what're we gonna do? Eat? Watching? Or shopping?", her eyes danced when she said the last word.

"I just need to sleep. I felt like a zombie", I admitted.

"Oh, okay. Let me guess. You napped yesterday?", she grinned.

"You know me so well", I smirked.

"Of course, silly. You're my bitch", she laughed. I rolled my eyes.

"Anyway, how's everything with Mike?", her eyes demanding.

I sighed. "I saw him this morning. But I was in no mood. I was kind of rude to him". I regretted it actually because he was trying to be nice.

"For Christ sakes, Linda. He's nice and hot. If I were single right now, I would be freak", Hailey blurted.

"I know, it's just.. I'm not really ready to have a boy in my life, you know. Especially when I live with my brother and his annoying friend"

Her eyes widened. "You have another guy that live with you? How come I don't know this?", she demanded.

Damn, I forgot to tell her.

"Sorry, I forgot to tell you, really", I defended. "He's my brother's bestfriend for like forever. He used to hang in our house before the divorce"

"Wow, you never mentioned him before"

"I know". When I got to boarding school, I always avoided the topic about my family or my old school. Because it was hurt to mention your past when the reason you moved was your own family.

"So, what do you think I should do with Mike?", I asked avoided Ethan topic.

She then back to our early topic. "Of course you should say yes to the date. Just give him chance, Lin. I know you're not use to date or having serious relationship. But we're in college now. Time for a change. You can't be like you used to be in high school forever. Who knows. Maybe he's great and will accept you for an amazing person you are", she said with dear.

I gave her a genuine smile and hugged her. "Thanks, Hailey. I don't know what I'd do without you". Hailey was always there for me whenever I needed her and she knew exactly what I should do and I was never been grateful that I met her.

She hugged me back. "Anything for you, sweetie"

Later, we pulled back and I bid her farewell. It was just 12 Pm when I got home. Like usual, Ethan was in living room watching TV.

He seemed didn't realize my presence. I headed to the kitchen to make myself a sandwich. I didn't have dinner and breakfast so I was starving.

I was finishing my last bite of sandwich when he entered th kitchen. He seemed surprised to see me.

"You're home", he said surprised.

"What? You don't like me being here? ", too rude.

He seemed taken back. "Uh, no. It's early. You don't usually come home at this hour"

"Don't worry. If you're having your girlfriend around, just pretend I'm not here", I said as I got up to wash the plate. Why did I sound jealous?

He chuckled. "Well, unfortunately, I don't have a girlfriend"

I turned around and faced him with confused look. He didn't have a girlfriend? How could somebody as hot as him didn't have girlfriend? Wait, did I just said hot? Damn my brain.

"You looked surprised", he said in amusement.

"I-I'm just surprised that you don't have one considering your age.", I turned away, avoiding his gaze.

"Yeah, Brian making fun of me because of that too. God, he beats me up in that field", he chuckled.

"He has a girlfriend?", I asked, surprised. How could I didn't know about it?

"Yeah. You didn't know?"

I shook my head.

"Her name is Kira. She's attorney too. They met when they worked a case together", he explained. "She's great and I've never seen Brian this happy", he smiled.

I was glad that he was happy. He finally found someone he truly loved. After everything he's been through, he deserved that happiness.

"I'm glad too", I said breaking the silence. He gave me the gorgeous smile that I'd never seen in a long time. It reminded me when I used to have a crush on him. But I fast recovered from his charm and excused myself to my room.

After closing the door behind me, I was still standing leaning against the door. I kept replaying his smile to me. It made my heart melt again like 5 years ago. Oh, gosh. What was going on with me.

Still standing there, my phone buzzed. I opened it and there was a text from Mike.

Hey, didn't see you after class. Are you OK?

I groaned. What was he, my boyfriend? I replied to him.

Just want to be home early.

I pressed send and he quickly replied.

Oh, OK. Just making sure you're alright. I'll see you tomorrow ;)

I rolled my eyes, didn't reply to him anymore. I put my phone on my desk and changed my outfit. After that, I took a 15 minute nap. Before I drifted to sleep, I set the alarm clock so I wouldn't overslept like the day before. The last thing I knew, after setting the clock, I drifted into a deep sleep.
