Chapter 9: Chapter 9
I looked at the streets of this city which saw me grow, smile, blossom and laugh, I remembered every corner of the streets, the places where I had been, my giggles at unusual places and above all the happiness that I had to live in this city. Now it's time for me to leave everything behind and just focus on the future.
It won't be easy but now that I have nothing to hold me back here I can leave with a light heart. I sighed feeling the driver's gaze through the rearview mirror and stared back.
_ You seem sad... Are you leaving town?
I just nodded before glancing back. I left it all behind and when I say it that's it. Even my laptop and my sim stayed, I don't want to have to explain anything to people from my past so I'm cutting ties in every sense of the word.
I kept my face on the glass until we got to the station. The train to Capital City was due to leave soon so I went to check in my luggage and waited for it to depart. When I speak of my luggage it is only a suitcase containing the few clothes that I had deemed necessary. I waited like this for a few minutes and after that it was time to leave so I got on the train.
My new life was waiting for me at the end of this trip and even if I left quite confident I still had to think about how to find my family at least my mother's because even if she wanted to be reassuring, I can't take the worry away which twists my guts.
The drive to Capital City is four hours so during that time I tried to sleep forcing myself to do so. But despite the fatigue accumulated over the past few days, I couldn't sleep.
I wondered how I was going to find him. Should I just ask to meet the Shield of Rain and who should I do it to? I'm just going to look crazy for sure. I was left tormented by these questions and finally as I held my head in pain, the voice telling me not to worry as I would know the way to them, I was able to doze off a bit. The journey didn't last and finally I arrived as my heart was pounding in my chest. I was so scared of what might happen and when I got off the train, I felt like my body was being hit by electric shocks and my skin was immediately covered in goosebumps.
What was this Intense feeling like just being in this city was waking up every cell in my body. I sighed before walking off.
I had to find my mother's pack before sunset, which was not easy. The city was incredible, different from my hometown in any case but honestly I had never seen such a metropolis. The buildings were impressive, the skyscrapers huge, the city was futuristic like in those science fiction movies and the people, they were so incredible. They all seemed to come from another world, they were so beautiful and classy. So this is where my mom is from? Unbelievable.
I walked in the street seeming to be the bad seed as the people were so well dressed unlike me who only had jeans and sneakers, I was really doing a job there.
I started walking close to the walls and avoiding jostling other passers-by, but even if I did my best not to jostle them, on the contrary, they didn't seem aware of my existence. Everyone walked like an automaton in the street without worrying about what is happening around.
And finally I had a hollow.
Damn I should have kept my phone and blacklisted all my contacts but no I was stupid and decided to leave it behind. How do I now find a place to eat? But worse where will I sleep? It's not fair.
I looked at the passers-by in the street and I sighed, I hope I don't take myself for a tramp there.
I reached out to intercept someone but before I did someone grabbed my hand.
He was a young man my age or a little older, he had piercings on his ears and shit he was like a K-pop idol he was so handsome. I blushed before dismissing my hysterical fan thoughts.
_ Hey, are you new to Capital City?
He was wonderful, even his voice. I stared at him for I don't know how long as he raised his brow bone wondering where that stubbornness was coming from. I picked myself up, finding myself downright stupid, especially since it hadn't even been five hours since I had just broken up with my boyfriend and I was already drooling over another guy.
But what do you want? He is wonderful.
I cleared my throat before smiling like an idiot scratching the back of my head.
_ Sorry... Hmm yes I'm new I just arrived in Capital City and frankly I'm lost. I need to find a place to sleep but for now not a place where I can eat. I'm starving.
He chuckled before shaking his head at my questioning gaze.
_ When I saw you from afar so shy and reserved I didn't think that once you had the chance you would be such a talker.
I blushed in embarrassment but he just shook his head.
_ Don't worry... I find chatterboxes cute.
He winked at me and I blushed, smiling shyly as he took my hand.
_ Go follow me I know a good place for all the needs you listed.
He pulled me and I let myself be led obediently. I know I shouldn't follow strangers but when the stranger is this handsome and sexy I'll let myself go anywhere if it means staying with him a little longer.
My first impression of Capital City was therefore good.
Further up the top floor of a huge skyscraper, a man stared down the street with a cold face as his arms were crossed. He smiled one of the few he did before turning to his assistant.
_ Where are they ?
_ In the master basement
_ Well let's take care of these rats.
The two went to find people who would soon have a very bad time.
