Chapter 114: Chapter 114

It was clear. I had to prove myself but what pisses me off is that I feel like I'm competing for Greg's love when I already have it. It pisses me off, to put myself on so much display. But I can't just sit there and think that it's up to Greg to do all the work.

He must certainly have a lot to do with the pack, potential traitors within it, hunters, mutants, and the threat of my grandfather and his henchmen. Honestly, if I can spare him another worry then I'd gladly do so.

" I completely understand the delicate situation in which I find myself…"

I looked at Greg.

"I can't impose myself this way on people who don't know anything about me. I think it's time for me to show some maturity and do something for the good of the pack. If that's the only thing to allow me to legitimize my position alongside the Alpha then I'm willing to comply."

" But Sophia, think carefully, you don't know what traps these people will set for you. I cannot attest to their honor at this tournament."

I understand Rayan's fear, these people can use not very correct methods to get rid of me but if since this discussion started, Greg hasn't said anything then it's obvious that he doesn't care.

It was nothing. No matter what these people will try to do, he will thwart them.

" Do not worry. I understand that it will be dangerous but I will manage."

" But it's game to the death. I'm sure those old assholes will do anything to get rid of you for good seeing how much you are loved by the Alpha. It's far too dangerous."

Pamela spoke tearfully and I felt my heart tremble with fear.

" But what do you recommend we should do in this case? I don't want to be a burden to my alpha, and I don't want my presence around him to cause trouble with the pack either. A monarch who no longer has the favor of his people may well impose himself on them by force, but in the end, it is the people who will always have the last word. I can't and don't want to put the man I love in a delicate situation so if I have to make a small effort to avoid this kind of difficulty for him, it won't be much if for once, it's my life that I put in play for him…"

Greg squeezed our fingers together, certainly not appreciating that I was talking so casually about my life. But that's how I feel, I can't afford to be a drag on Greg anymore knowing how much he puts himself in danger every day for me.

Elsa smiled before getting up.

" You chose very well, Trent. Your Luna is worthy of you and I understand the confidence you gave, which meant that despite the shenanigans of these assholes, you remained confident in your Luna. Sophia, I'm going to put the endeavor into your training. The tournament will take place in three months but I don't worry, you are strong and even if you have Selena in front of you, she will never make the weight. You're way too strong for this minx."

I chuckled, apparently that bitch isn't favored by Greg's family, poor thing.

" For this purpose, Elsa, I wanted to talk to you about it too. I want to improve my unique abilities. I can't myself explain what is happening to me but I understand that I am different from other lycans. But that doesn't matter, I know I'm a full-fledged lycan and can be of great use to Trent."

Elsa nodded as Rayan stood up, ordering the butler to prepare a room for him and Pamela.

" Good, young people, I will have to leave you."

" Are you going home already? Wouldn't it be better to spend the night here?"

I asked knowing that now with Pamela moving here Rayan will follow, which means Elsa will have to live alone. It makes sense, the Alpha and his Luna represent everything and to please them, the desires of some will be irremediably stifled.

" It's not serious. Rayan has taken advantage of his mom enough, it's time he grew up a bit."

I felt Rayan frown and smile.

"Hm."

He walked upstairs as Pamela went to kiss her stepmother.

" Mom, take care of yourself."

"You too, my angel. And watch over this cursed kid unable to hug his mother."

" Goodbye Mother."

Rayan shouted upstairs as I looked at them a little bewildered at their interaction. It looked like Elsa's daughter was Pamela given Rayan's coldness but Elsa didn't seem too bothered by her son's behavior either. Maybe that's why Pamela told me he's a psycho.

Elsa is gone and now in the bedroom, Greg is lying on the bed watching me change for the night.

" Their relationship intrigues you, doesn't it?"

" Indeed, Rayan seems so distant and…"

" They are two alphas with very strong characters, they oppose each other and as a result, they can't express their real feelings. But they love each other."

" It's not like you and I are not alphas but our love is so tender…"

" As I told you, they are two alphas with rough characters, moreover, it is a mother and her baby. In adulthood, males permanently detach from their mothers and their relationship becomes colder. When we'll have our babies, you will understand."

" Not that. My baby will remain my baby even when very old and decrepit."

Greg smiled before speaking.

" Sorry, honey, but it's our nature. The males will always be cold towards their mothers when they reach adulthood... And will have to make sure not to provoke their father, which means that even if our little one sticks with you, I will have to call him to order."

" But Greg."

" You are mine, not our little one. I don't allow other males around you, even our child. It's instinctive... You're going to feel the same with our daughter."

All of this is a little beyond me, but hey, I'm not used to all these things yet, so if Greg says it, it must be true. Individuals in the canine breed in documentaries are very territorial so I can imagine a bit.

I lay down next to Greg and quickly fell asleep.

For her part, Elsa arrived in front of her mansion deciding to take a walk in the gardens. The house will seem a bit empty to her but she also needs that to rethink her life. Luna is what matters the most so she will silence her loneliness.

She lit a cigarette thinking about the people she lost, her sister, her omega.

She sighed, it's been ten years since he died, and even though their relationship had been imposed on her because he was her soul mate, she had learned to love him, he was like a breath of fresh air in her life. His candor, his sweetness, his love, she ended up loving him and forgetting his first love.

Those were tough days but they got through them, despite her pushing him away, he insisted and finally, they had their lovely Rayan, since his death she feels drained. But lately even more because she had to deal with him again. Her first love...

" I knew you were there."

She got scared before turning to see the man who had barely touched her thoughts.

"Tom? But what are you doing there? If Rayan was there? Stop, you know we can't do this and…"

Tom kissed her, shutting her up. She tried to push him away but her mind was clouded by the gentleness of his kiss. They separated and Tom spoke.

" When I had to give up on you because I was not your predestined partner as a beta, I accepted this decision, however unfair. For more than 28 years, I had to watch you from a distance leading your life by his side. I've always loved you. You can know that. Even after his death I kept my distance but I can't take it anymore Elsa... I want you more than anything."

Elsa pursed her lips.

" We can't do that."

" Nothing prevents us from doing so."

" Rayan will not be happy."

" He is an adult and you have been alone for too long. I kept waiting for you, are you going to continue ignoring me, Elsa?"

Elsa gulped as she shook her head. It was madness but this temptation was too strong. Tom smiled before carrying her away behind a nearby bush.

"Tom…"

" Making love to you has always been what I dreamed of all my life. Let me love you tonight for every night I've wanted for the past 28 years."

Elsa gulped before nodding as Tom proceeded to undress her.
